Hello,

We're recording at Chem19 studios in Hamilton, early November with Paul Savage. We're looking for a rich (and preferably naive) entrepreneur to release the as yet untitled songs.

You might even break even.

It'll be the musical equivilant to 'A Shot At Glory' and you can watch over us like Robert Duvall.

Hello,

the Grace records staff are busy preparing the 7" vinyls for release at the end of the month. 1000 records to stamp, fold, wash, dry and put away. It's repetitive and unrewarding. This is apt. The nature of 'pop' music  is repetitive and (generally) unrewarding. Listen to Mark E Smith.

Forthcoming live dates (see app section): It took Suicide months of touring to come up with the perfect pre-gig stimulant. Something imbibed a certain time before playing that elevates the experience to "freaky shit" (their words). You take 120 mls of it, straight, precisely 25 mins before performing*. When you play football, you let the ball do the work. Similarly, make alcohol work for you. A muddled football analogy. Not gonna give away the Suicide/stopstarts secret though. Have a guess, put in the groundwork...put in the groundwork...put in the groundwork...

Contrary to the last post, our new single is a double A-side consisting of the following songs:

A. Diamondless

AA. Mentor

Diamondless will be the first ever pure pop single that Grace Records have had the temerity to release.

New Year's Eve was spent watching an increasingly emaciated Jackie Bird on the BBC. Still, she's a model professional, similar to our Dougie Donnelly (a consumate professional).

Our next AA single will be two songs: 'Mentor' and 'Neebor'. 'Mentor' is inspired by two people: Walter Yetnikoff,  the legendary manager of Michael Jackson and other 70s'/80's lumineries and, less glamourously, Vladimar Romanov, the current chairman, manager, dictator and tea lady of scottish soccerball team Heart of Midlothian. Neebor is inspired (I use the word loosely) by some of our mates.

If Grace Records are true to their word, the songs will be out in March. Murphy's law dictates the praise we receive for these works will be posthumous.

Genuine thanks to Grace records and everyone who has supported  us in 2006. Stopstarts do not support Hearts FC.

The launch party for the next hot single 'Short Breaks/Don't Speed, Louise' will take place at the Halt Bar, in the west end (Glasgow) on Sat 11th November at 9pm. Free entry. All welcome. M

"This particularly launch party entails celebrating the release of something deemed to be of cultural significance to all those involved before it is deleted without trace, thereafter erased from all mainstream memory." Grace Records

Father time dictates the pace. For the SS he's allocated a very slow rhumba that uses only the most elementary of percussion instruments. We could be here all night...When the Prick eventually decides to speed things up a little, we'll be ready. Right now though, we're just bouncing athletically on our toes, limbering up.

Saw Stuart Grace play some tunes at the Barfly the other night. What presence! What dexterity on the decks! Punctuated only by a few (forgivable) silences when the 7" refused to play ball. Great night.

The new single Short Breaks / Don't Speed, Louise will be out on October 28th on Grace Records.

The single will be limited across 7" and CD and will be in all good record shops being a properly distributed single an' all.

Being on 'Sabbatical' (see previous post) should allow one to become involved in passions other than music. But plans to take up karate, play the stock exchange or become a volunteer at the local seal sanctuary go awry in the face of the familiar: namely writing new tunes. 'The girl can't help it' as they say.

The forthcoming double A-side 'Short Breaks'/'Don't Speed, Louise' will be out in the summer. 500 copies will be on 7" Vinyl with a further 500 copies available on the more accessible format of Compact Disc. Modesty prevents me from telling you how good both tracks are. Keep on checking the Grace Records website and their Myspace site for release info on us as well as The Fury et. al. And if you're gonna put the single on Ebay at least give 5% your profit to the seals. It'll ease my conscience. M

The single is now on release in a few shops that you may live 100s of miles from. Never mind, we'll stick up the full versions on myspace soon. We'll also get the other new tracks on as teaser tracks. 30 seconds is yer lot ( Ear-teasing bitches that we are).

The next single will be out in a few months if things go to plan. As usual, the highly efficient Stuart at Grace Records is your man for queries etc. He and Lesley get thru a hell of a lot of work and we're very much obliged.
