Show Time: Thursday February 8, 2007 - 9:00 PM
Venue Name: SF BLUEGRASS & OLD TIME FESTIVAL/"Old-Time Show"/The Mercury Dimes/Flat Mountain Girls/Jeff Kazor & Lisa Berman
Address: 3101 Shattuck Ave
City: Berkeley
State: California
Country: US
Zip Code: 94701
Cost: $10.00
Description: ***The Mercury Dimes - Rollicking twin fiddles and bright country harmonies define the Mercury Dimes, a band of veteran musicians that emerged amid the late-20th-century explosion of acoustic old-time and bluegrass music in San Francisco. The Mercury Dimes were originally conceived as a touring band, and have traveled as far away as France to perform their seductive mix of Appalachian fiddle tunes, old-time ballads, and country blues. ***Flat Mountain Girls - The Flat Mountain Girls are a high-energy old-time string band based in Portland, Oregon. The Flats are known for tight, raw three-part harmonies, powerful fiddling, and performances that explode with irrepressible glee and bawdy humor. ***Jeff Kazor & Lisa Berman - from the band The Crooked Jades, this duo will catch your attention with powerful lyrics and deeply moving vocals.

FIFTH ANNUAL MURDER BALLADS BASH featuring:The Moanin' Dove/Salane and Friends/The Happy Clams/The Wenches/Joni Davis/Loretta Lynch/Karry Walker and Myles Boisen/Harlan Hollander/The Pinks
3101 Shattuck Ave.
City: Berkeley
State: California
Country: US
Zip Code: 94701
Cost: $8.00

Just like in previous years, each band will perform songs of misery, murder and despair, and each will write an original murder ballad just for this occasion, and you will "hear it here first"! Piano driven ballads with soulful vocals, deliciously delivered by Joni Davis... Siren folk metal quartet the Pinks (otherwise known as Pink Sabbath)... Salane and Friends - a one woman accordion-centric show... Screamin' guitar licks from Harlan Hollander...Murderous garage rock from The Happy Clams... Twangy tales of wickedness sung in three part harmony by Loretta Lynch... Myles Boisen and Karry Walker - specializing in suicide songs! The Wenches - brand new duo born out of a night of heavy drinking between a Pickin' Trick and a Loretta Lynch-ette... this band is too new for cyberspace! Freaky rock & roll from The Moanin' Dove... Ladies and gentlemen, bring your broken hearts, your costumes, your lovers and ex lovers and future ex lovers.

Sorry folks, we can't even keep up with our regular email account, so unfortunately we won't respond to booking inquiries sent here....
Wednesday, January 25, 2006
Howdy - lots more of these to come, and here's a few for now, in no particular order:

Before requesting about a particular date, check the calendar that we've posted here to see if it's available! We will rarely have the time to call back just to tell you that a date is not available. It's not cause we're aloof, cranky or not interested (...although, we CAN be all of those things sometimes!), it's just cause there is simply not enough time to return every call!

When corresponding via email, it's really helpful if you put your name in the "from" part of your email, rather than using generic labels like "info" or "booking".

Those are just a few things that come to mind today...like we said, more tips coming so please stay tuned.
