When we all found out that the Sixers blew the last four games of the regular season and as a result had to play the number 2 seeded Detroit Pistons in the first round of the playoffs, we all thought the same thing: "...maybe next year, boys." I bet that no one, not even the most loyal Sixer fans, would've expected Game 1 to turn out the way it did. Andre Miller and the boys pulled off a huge upset against the Eastern Conference's second best team, holding the Pistons to only 35 points in the entire 2nd half.
Although Philly had beaten Detroit the last two times they met in regular season action, a first-round meeting with the Pistons seemed like an automatic death wish for Mo and the kids. Seeing as though the team managed to prove many of us wrong by making it to the playoffs this season, their win against Detroit just adds one more thing to the list. This upset in Detroit can mean one of two things. Either the Sixers' confidence and momentum are through the roof and they are in the heads of the Pistons or the Pistons are just going to demolish Philly in the next four games out of anger... maybe a little bit of both. Let's see how things turn out Wednesday night for game 2. See you then.
