Year Long Disaster, have begun recording their second full-length album with Grammy award winning producer Nick Raskulinecz in Los Angeles, CA at Sound City studios. The new album, titled, Black Magic: All Mysteries Revealed, is set for release in early 2010.Daniel says that with Black Magic “there is a thread that runs through it that is quite strong, but not necessarily a theme or concept” and describes his lyrics for the new songs as “traversing schizophrenia interspersed with graveyard seductions, Pontius Pilate, girl-on-girl grinding, six foot tall cats with pistols, at least four songs about the sensuality of blood, two songs concern turning over a car and riddling it with bullet holes while screaming random obscenities at the top of my lungs to every passing motorist, allusions to 24 hour breakfasts, ancient sexual rites of the Celtic goddess Agrona, the lust of Count Drakul, sausage, egg, and cheese sandwiches, observations of a bloated man standing before a jukebox and of course, a song just about wondering how my clothes got soaking wet, covered in kerosene and why I was in a storeroom behind a riverfront Waffle House in Mississippi with a broken lock on the back door, desperate to find a hacksaw to free my shackled legs.”About Nick. He is a Knoxville, Tennessee native, who is well versed in the savage dialect of the South, which should aid him in his duty of helping to tie that lyrical onslaught together. Perhaps best known as the producer of the Foo Fighters albums, One By One (2002, Grammy Award for “Best Rock Album” 2004) and In Your Honor (2005), Raskulinecz has also worked with and produced albums from Alice in Chains, Coheed and Cambria, Velvet Revolver, Shadows Fall, Superdrag, Rush, and Trivium, among others.Photo Gallery at www.yearlongdisaster.com

We here at The Year Long Disaster are pleased to announce we will be supportng rock legends The Cult on their Love tour in Los Angeles and SF on Aug 22 and 23 respectively. We are also extremely pleased to announce the three of us will be attacking each other's personal musical tastes like Saber Toothed Tigers digging their fangs into the flank of a stunned Wooly Mammoth, bringing it to the ground as it howls and thrashes in pain every night for 4 weeks starting Aug 26th at Sound City Studios in LA as we begin officially recording our sophomore effort "Black Magic; All Mysteries Revealed."

And for those in the know, Don't Deliver Us From Evil, complete reprise...

SECRET FILES OF THE YEAR LONG DISASTER is dedicated to all those stories that must remain undercover, out of sight, and just under the radar. They are tales of greed and deception, of war-torn eras riddled with the thousand sins of glory under pressure. They are stories of caffeine fueled by writers who never got a degree in English and think that they are writing gibberish.

These are the secret files of the YEAR LONG DISASTER.

Tonight's mission folder contains the never before told story of how Matt Maiellaro, co-creator of Aqua Teen Hunger Force, crossed paths with the Year Long Disaster. The following is not meant for the feint of heart, and was transcribed by a lowly Year Long Disasterite who shortly after recording the conversation disappeared for weeks before his body was found floating in the Ganges River. Fortunately for our audience, he managed to send "copies" of Maiellaro's response via "E-MAIL". Goddamn, the 21st Century is a crazy time to be alive in.

Maiellaro:

I was contacted by YLD through a friend of Rich. Turned out Rich
and the gang were huge Adult Swim fans and were looking to do a music video
that was something other than them (yld) playing the song in an abandoned
warehouse. So, I pitched Rich the idea of me shooting them playing the song in
an abandoned warehouse. They hated the idea and I lost the job
immediately.

Rich fedexed dead rats to my home with a note saying "rot in hell
you stupid animation producer." Then I had this brainstorm, what if I did a
completely animated video that involved the band morphing into robots and
battling this brain creature from space. I sent it to Rich and he responded with
"No, we want to do a video with us playing in an abandoned warehouse."
Arguments and law-suits ensued, but YLD was no match for my boatload of
lawyers and after a bout of Chinese Water Torture, YLD robotically succumbed to
my awesome idea.

I was initially on-the-fence about making the video until I heard
the song "Leda Atomica" I really dug the music and it reminded me of the
song I wrote two years ago called "Leda Atomica" which utilized the same-
exact chords and lyrics. Then I happened to be in the Los Angeles area
taking important movie meetings regarding my script, " Leda Atomica, The
Song" and I got to hook up with YLD at Rich's house and discuss the lawsuit
which they were throwing my way. I was so impressed with their demeanor that
I stood up, pulled out a copy of my screenplay and original song "Leda
Atomica" on CD and burned them in front of everyone's eyes. Rich and Daniel
jumped back from the flames but I stood everlastingly close to the heat. And
with bare palms I raised to the sky, I exclaimed "Alright goddamnit, I'll do
your effing video!" And from here on out, every great idea and song I write belongs to
YLD.

-END OF TRANSCRIPTION-

Year Long Disaster continues to remain in good standing with Mr. Maiellaro and on his behalf wishes you to contribute to the Official Matt Maiellaro fund which is unofficially sponsored by buying anything that has Space Ghost and/or Aqua Teen Hunger Force characters printed on it, (unless of course it is the original Hanna Barbera Space Ghost in which case Mr. Maiellaro's lawyers advise him against expecting a dime) or the packaging in which it comes.

So, we're feeling no pain this weekend- Friday's show only cemented our belief in the liberal usage of robots and/or radioactive insects as effective means for a good time. As such, we're feeling crazy enough to show you some of the creative ideas WHICH DID NOT work into our pantheon of good marketing material. Vote for your favorite, or send us your own admissions- and maybe JUST MAYBE... we'll buy you a case of beer for making us laugh.

Tomorrow's blog will feature our video, which debuts on ADULTSWIM.com sometime during the day. Tune in then, Space Cadets!

Sincerely,
The Disaster-at-large

Wow- so where to begin... last night was pure insanity! Ears are still ringing, and I think there's a big crater left where the Viper Room once was. I think we speak for everyone when we say an excellent time was had by all. Thanks to our special guests Billy Duffy of The Cult, Totimoshi, our peeps at Volcom Entertainment and especially Matt Maiellaro and his brand of wizardry- for not only rocking the house (BLACK MAGIC!!) but for birthing unto the world what has absolutely got to be one of the coolest things we have ever seen: our very own animated video! We're gonna post many more pictures and details as the weekend closes out- but in the meantime here are some quick snapshots from our video for LEDA ATOMICA, which debuts on adultswim.com this Monday! (Links and posted video soon to follow)

Thank you Los Angeles, and YLD fans-at-large- RAWWWWWWWWWK

Yes, that's right, we will own in 2008. We're not sure exactly what we will own, but a house would be nice...though we don't think the LA housing market has cooled enough to where someone would be willing to let us pay a mortgage in unused drink tickets and Volcom socks.

Also, since this is a UK publication, thought we'd let you know we'll be back in the UK in January with Viking Skull...
