BAND TO PERFORM ON NATIONAL TV PROGRAM ON FRI 23rd JAN....

Skerryvore are to perform live on GMTV this Friday morning as part of the launch for Homecoming Scotland 2009. The exact time of performance is TBC but the band will be joining 100 school kids in ..Dumfries.. at ..6.30am.. (gulp!) on Friday morning to start the weekend celebrations. The early start will obviously mean no beers for the Skerries after Thursday’s sell-out gig at Celtic connections to ensure the boys are fresh for their appearance on GMTV!   J....

Just to confirm that the Celtic Connections gig at Oran Mor on the 22nd January is completely sold out. The demand for tickets has been incredible and apologies to those who were unable to make it along, we will hopefully catch you at another gig later in 2009. Skerryvore will be joined by a host of special guests for the show on Thursday including Blazin Fiddle’s Allan Henderson, Norrie macIver, Paul McLaughlin and the infamous brass section- The Horn Supremacy! The gig will also see the first ever performance of the track written & performed for BBC Alba’s A’ Gharaids series.  ....

SKERRYVORE WINTER TOUR 2008/09!!

It is that time of year again for Skerryvore to hit the road and embark on another jam packed tour to really heat up the festive season. 2008 has been a fantastic year for the band with highlights including debut performances in the USA and also a return trip to Italy to perform at the BustoFolk Festival near Milan. So, the band are delighted to round off the year in style by performing at the Oban Hogmanay Street Party again this year – an event that looks to be even bigger and better than last year with an expected crowd of 8000 joining the party with Skerryvore, the Red Hot Chilli Pipers,Oban Homecoming Gaelic Choir, World Champion Piper Angus McColl & Oban High School Pipe Band, and reforming exclusively for the event - 1980’s band The Works.

January 1^st will see Skerryvore kick off the Year of Homecoming Scotland with a blast as they release their own version of Dougie MacLean’s classic, ‘Caledonia’. After performing an arrangement of the song during their tour of the USA in September they received a huge number of requests to have their version recorded, in particular from MSP Jim Mather. The track will see the launch of Skerryvore on iTunes and will be available from the 1^st of January 2009 – literally minutes after they have performed it live to see in the Bells at the Oban Hogmanay Street Party. Then join the band on the 1^st of Jan for a New Year’s shindig at the Nevis Centre, Fort William where Skerryvore will hold the official launch party of ‘Caledonia’.

Skerryvore are headlining what will be a fantastic night of Celtic Rock & Songs ca from bands from Scotland, Ireland and London. This is the 1st event of what could turn into a whole UK Tour of 'Hoolies' so don't miss your chance to be part of the opening night! Skerryvore will be joined by 4 other bands including Glasgow-Irish band The Wakes and, all the way from London - The BibleCode Sundays!
