well, really, it isn't, but we do love them both.

our show at blue in portland was great! the food was good and the people were nice. i got to see a lot of old friends and also make some new ones! this trip was a great idea, there's no other way i would have gotten to catch up with so many of my friends! we stayed in portland with old roommate, mikey v, and old friend, jessy. coop went to hang out with his friend, scott, who drove from VT! i didn't lay down until the sun came up. what a night!

we then drove to the capital of vermont. so pretty. i can't really describe it, its too pretty. we drove through the white mountains and arrived at the gig in enough time to explore a bit and have something to drink. the people we met in vermont have been some of the nicest folks i've ever come across. at set break this girl, who we'll come to know as sara, recognized coop from johnson city and invited us to come and stay at her house. thanks sara! she lived in a super cool old farm house in the middle of nowhere that had a steam bath and a trampoline!

whew... there's too much to tell everything thats happened in the last few days.

last night we stayed at the Governor's Inn in rochester NH, and we also played there! again, the people were great and we had a fabulous time! we got to sleep in, and relax most of the day before we headed to portsmouth NH for a radio show. i tell you, thats the longest radio show i've ever played on. we hung out with doug for his entire program... which was about 2 hours long!

after that we went and had some delicious food and perused the awesome record store across the street and got a few selections.

now we're in MA at old time dave's house playing with all the novelty items he found at the dump and in the recesses of his parent's house. pretty cool. he has this thing called an omnichord... its a weird electronic all in one kinda instrument. and an electric back massager from the 50's that essentially just vibrates your back until you're numb all over.

ok, i tried to get it all in, and i'll try to write more frequently next time!

stay thirsty, my friends,

Oh man! Oh man! oh man!  We like Boston!

Coop and I arrived in the Boston airport at around 12am the night before last (layovers in Phoenix and Newark respectively.  eww.) and promptly headed to a warehouse in Allston where our new friend, Mitchell, lives.  There we picked into the wee(ish) hours of the morning.

We hopped on the T yesterday and headed for downtown Boston.  We visited a graveyard or two, ate some hotdogs and saw some seals.  Pretty great.

We went back to our friend, Laura's apartment and got warmed and dressed up and walked over to the Cantab Lounge.  WHAT A TIME!!!!!!!  the Dixie Butterhounds opened with some great old time music, and we took the stage at 10.  We had a riot!  The crowd was rowdy and enthusiastic, the beer was cold, and the tunes were fast.  We even had the cowriter of "Toil and Shame" up to sing the song she penned with Ashleigh, and man can Keppie Coutts sing.  We had a great time picking and eating pizza afterwards.

We're about to get in the car and head up to Portland, Maine.  We're playing at a club called Blue tonight.

Remember that you can follow us on Twitter, where we are updating all the time with comments and photos!

see you down the line!

Good news! We got our stickers in the mail yesterday! They look really good and we can't wait for everyone to see them and to have one of their very own!

We also had a great time on Sunday at Adam's. The crowd was small, but enthusiastic, and it was awesome.

We just finished playing at the Fiddlin Pig, and had a great time as usual. We always love playing there, its just like home to us now, and it was good to see our friend, Felicia, back behind the bar again!

In other news, we're all getting super excited about our New England tour! Matt and I will be leaving on Thursday, so we can hang out in Maine for a while. Grace will be taking a trip to Nashville and then to Michigan to visit her family. Coop will be taking off for Colorado, where he'll be competing in the Guitar Competition at Rocky Grass. If you'll be there, be sure to cheer him on!

The CD's should be here soon!

Hope to see you soon!

we are almost done with our very first recording. right now, coop is madly mixing (everything is sounding great, by the way). grace is widdling away at the album design. it is looking pretty awesome thus far. matt is cooking up a storm while everyone runs back and forth to the car to hear the mixes. meanwhile, ruby and lefty are lounging on the floor while lump is tripping everyone in the kitchen.

we can't wait to let you all hear the new recordings!

hello everyone!

we just got home from south carolina. we played at smiley's to an awesome crowd and had a great time as always. its good to be seeing some familiar faces at our shows! oh, and dehlia low was there too. we enjoyed hearing them, as always. thanks to everyone who came and hung out with us!

we stayed the night in greenville with our friend, nate, who just so happens to be one of the best photographers around and in addition to that, he's a cool guy. thanks for the sleepover, nate!

after we left nate's house, we headed to traveler's rest to play at one of our favorite bbq's, the huntin camp. we played some tunes and had some delicious food before we took off, once more to play a party just outside of asheville.

after setting up all the sound, sound checking, then moving everything (because we were misinformed as to the band's placement), we got started, and it promptly started raining. so then, we packed everything up, put it back in the car and proceeded to play acoustically on the deck. once we were settled we had a great time! it was nice to just sit around and pick some tunes we haven't played in forever, or never!

finally, let me tell you about our recording... we're actually working on a recording... we're really excited! coop has been our live in engineer, in addition to playing guitar... and even a few funny dobro tracks! some of the tunes to be included on this release are... henry tracy, row by row, i'll get it myself, toil and shame, so many others... we'll try and keep you updated!

whew, i'm becoming the queen of long blogs...

no silly fact today, so come to an upcoming show for more bad jokes...

see ya!

well, we're back in town after a good little string of gigs.

we started off with a wedding on saturday where they had us on a stage in the middle of all the guests. it was a little weird at first, but we just decided that we'd just turn around periodically and face a different direction... which was pretty easy to do since we weren't using the sound.

after the wedding, coop, matt, ruby and i headed straight to johnson city, to catch some of the blue plumb festival. there were tons of people there, and we got there in just enough time to see a few bands and run into our friend jason. here's how that conversation went:

ashleigh: "hey, that guy looks like jason."
matt: "yeah, he kinda does."
then we moved closer.
matt: "i think that is jason..."
guy from acoustic syndicate, motioning towards said jason-look-alike: "jason flournoy!"

on sunday morning we were joined by grace and we all went and spent the day at the river before heading to sonny's marinia to play for the tired and sunburned crowd at the bar.

monday morning we picked up the uhaul trailer and headed to richmond virginia. i guess we didn't realize just how far it was from johnson city to richmond, but we made it alive, and played for one of the best monday night crowds yet! we'll gladly go back there again. i guess people in richmond know how to do a monday night properly.

we had planned on driving back to johnson city that night, but ended up staying in charolettesville at a hotel. thanks mrs and mr cooper!

then, finally, we returned to johnson city, returned the u haul and headed straight for the coffee shop, coop and grace's old stomping grounds, where we played a pretty mellow little set for the nice folks there.

whew... long blog. i'll leave now. check out the picture that our new friend in richmond drew of us... its in the silver dagger live album.

see ya!
