Summer is almost upon us and Arcattack is heating it up around the
world! We are pleased to announce the first appearances of the summer
season.
First, we will be performing Thursday June 18th in New York City for
The Most Interesting Man in the World! Dos Equis has invited us out
to the Big Apple to entertain as only Arcattack can.
Second, we will be at MetroCon! June 19th - 21st
with our main performance Saturday night. We are very excited about
this show.
Third, and perhaps the most interesting of our summer stops; Arcattack
is heading to Abu Dhabi! We will be engaged in a mission of education
and entertainment in perhaps the most technologically advanced
infrastructure on the planet. Arcattack will be performing two to
three times daily, an educational set on the background, development,
and use of our musical Tesla coils. We will be engaged there from July
1st through August 16th!
Then Arcattack flies into Amsterdam to kick off a whirlwind European
tour! We will be hosting various dates and locations in the Netherlands and who knows where else?! Keep track on our Myspace
page for listings of shows in Europe. We will be returning to the US
around the 1st of September, just in time for our final stop in our
whirlwind summer tour.
Dragoncon!!!
Arcattack will be performing once again for the Mad Scientist Ball!

Current mood: accomplished
Last night we did the initial testing on the new Faraday suit! Some really drastic improvements in this model. It is lighter in weight, more flexible, tougher (more resistant to wear and damage during use), and I think more streamlined in appearance. Just a couple more decorative tweaks to do tonight and we will be ready to go for the VEX Robotics Championships!
I took more pics of the boots and will upload them as soon as we get done re-formatting my hard drive.

Okay, getting ready to do the next installment to the Faraday Prototype 2 project. Working on the boots now. Went to a local hardware store and Hobby Lobby and got some supplies. So far I got some metal snips, metal hole punches, some thin sheet aluminum (very flexible), some 19 gauge galvanized wire, some more work gloves, and a ball-peen hammer. Also got a couple of sheets of posterboard in order to figure out the template of how to shape the metal around the boots. Later on, we will make the soles of the boots out of stronger metal. For now, however, while I am figuring out what shape the metal needs to be in, I am going to work with something that bends easily with some pliers. This stuff has some sharp edges after it gets cut, so I will need to develop a rolling technique to fold the metal in. The boots are going to be of three parts: the first part is the boot itself. I am looking into a pair of boots that have a zipper on the inside, such as jungle boots. For now, however, I am going to use my New Rocks. New Rock Boots (Spain) The second part will be the metal sole, toe, and heel cuffs to anchor the chainmail to. The third part will be the chainmail itself. I have found a wonderful vendor in Canada that is helping me out with some custom chainmail for this project! I have been shopping around for a suitable vendor for about 5 months now and finally I have found someone willing to go the extra effort to work on this particular project for a reasonable cost. I prefer to use local (non-corporate) vendors whenever I can, especially ones that are active in thier local communities. Ringlord for sure fits this bill.

Parsec here, and I am pleased to announce the completion of the top part of Faraday Prototype 2. Took me most of the weekend, pretty tedious work. However I am pretty patient at repetitive tasks. Seems my crappy short term memory is good for something! I uploaded some pics of this weekend's work in the Faraday photo album. Looks like when the pants come in the mail we will be ready to go to test! I am pretty excited!

Current mood: blissful
Got some new photos up of Prototype 2 Faraday suit, which is coming along swimmingly! Attached gloves to sleeves and affixed wire mesh to face mask. I am very excited about the new helmet. The plastic face shield is still up for debate. I think I can float the screen without the plastic facemask piece, but I like the stability it brings. Air movement would be better without the face mask and every once in awhile I fog it up, but overall I like the safety of having the shield there for when I am working with fire and other props. The helmet is very lightweight plastic and provides a very handy barrier, keeping the metal away from my skin and stopping my hair from poking through. Got a nice pair of pants made of chainmail en route to replace the screen construction from Prototype 1. I did not like how the seams turned out last time and the material was prone to puncture. The chainmail will be a bit heavier, but sturdier. Things are flowing nicely, should have the helmet done and attached by tomorrow and that will mean safety testing as soon as the pants get here in the mail!
