Oscar G returns to Club Space
by Fabian Collins
Saturdays belong to space and Oscar G has cemented that fact! Club Space, located in Downtown Miami, is known for its excessive, over-the-top atmosphere set to the pulsating rhythms of House, Techno and Trance music and Oscar G has just taken that status to a near frenzy level.
It was on one of these decadent Saturday nights that I visited the club to experience Miamis very own House deejay. The vibe of non pretentious partiers often absent in the night clubs South Beach counterparts was intact and began with the usual dance tracks from just about 11 30 p.m. till 1 a.m. when the legend himself, Oscar G showed up, and literally broke the house down!
Oscar took his willing audience through a mix of popular dance tracks and then decided to throw a few classics that sent everyone into hysterics. With remixes to classics such as, Sweet Dreams, Betty Davis Eyes and Pump up the Jam Oscar G did what many deejays often fall short of he engaged the crowd and we loved him for it. The club was literally lapping the spins, chanting in unison to the memorable 80s classics and as if not to be out done Oscar decided to bring two fantastic staples to the mix with a flare that is only indicative of Miami!
At just around 2 a.m., and I have to make a point of this because what was done was pure brilliance, Oscar G took Crystal Waters, the Queen of House (everyone knows how much I adore this woman) classic Gypsy Woman and set it to the throbbing beat of another classic, C & C Music Factorys Boricua Bonanza ! It was pure genius and a marriage was made in Heaven! The Afro-Latino track mixed with the House anthem was almost too much for the crowd to take with everyone dancing feverishly as Oscar G continued belting out song after song mesmerizing all who stood in his wake.
To close the over-the-top performance Oscar G played the dance theme that was made famous in the first Blade installment starring Wesley Snipes, Blood Rave (Blood Bath Mix) and like a good physician who has the ability to give just enough morphine to induce euphoria and not death to his patient, Oscar G ushered in the Sunday morning special at Club Space.
The nights performance did two things: it reiterated Club Spaces well deserved claim that it owns Saturday nights and showed us that Oscar G is here to stay!
