Dearest Friends,

Obama's campaign inspired me to be more giving: During the campaign, made my first donation ever to help a political candidate and it really inspired me to action in ways I haven't experienced before. That said, here's the shameless plug with an immediate opportunity to transform the spirit of change into tangible action. Chicago based media-arts organization Beyondmedia Education is having our annual fundraising gala, Viva Beyondmedia! this coming Saturday, on November 15th, 2008.

Funds raised will help us continue our programs for under-served and under-represented women, youth and communities to tell their stories, connect their stories to the world around us, and organize for social justice through the creation and distribution of media arts. If you care about women's voices being heard, I urge you to join me.

I hope you can attend our gala and show your support for change. If you're out of town, or otherwise can't make it - please consider buying an absentee ticket or making a donation. Every little bit helps. I think that this year's election showed us the power of people's individual donations--no matter what the amount. You can also buy a raffle ticket online or in person - 1/$5, 5/$20. The prize is two FIRST CLASS tickets to anywhere in the continental US. (To the inauguration perhaps?)
