In what is set to become an annual tradition, Norway’s “anti” Label, Misantrof, has, for the second year, released a tongue-in-cheek “anti” Christmas compilation. Like all Misantrof releases the 11-track “Holy Fucking ANTIChristmas Volume II” is available for free download, together with cover art and information about the bands involved, at http://antichristmas09.misantrof.net
CARPATHIAN FOREST bassist Daniel Vrangsinn, who founded Misantrof in 2007 and heads the multi-faceted organisation, prefers to call it an Anti Label, because he originally set it up as a reaction to all the greed and exploitation that bands suffer at the hands of the music industry. “It’s the same with Christmas,” explains Vrangsinn, “Regardless of your religious beliefs, Christmas has now become what is probably the most exploitative time of the year, when people are guilted into spending ridiculous amounts of money they can’t afford, on things they don’t need. So we thought we’d kill two birds with one stone by releasing an album that costs you nothing to get hold of, and at the same time takes a dig at the absurdity that has now become Christmas. All the bands volunteered their time to write and record for free, even paying their studio costs, and if that’s not the real spirit of Christmas, then what is? Let’s just call it a reality check on Christmas, made for pure enjoyment and cost-free self-indulgence”.
The two final tracks on the compilation are included as a tribute to EIRIK SKRANGLE, musician, friend and supporter of Misantrof, who died recently. Track listing as follows:
01. PROFANE PRAYER – Who Gives A Fuck? 02. PLAAG – Christmas Time 03. PÅL POTET – Eg Trur 04. VRANGSINN – A Song About Nothing At All (Mad Happy Melody) 05. EXETHERIS – Don’t Give Me The Christmas Blues 06. THE SMALL PENIS SYNDROMES – Penis Is My Friend 07. 26z – A Cold Warmth 08. THRONE OF MALEDICTION – Black Friday 09. RH- - Lamb Song 10. VRANGLE – There Is No Flaming Arrows (Painting the Whore) 11. EIRIK SKRANGLE - Avgaarde
Misantrof recently joined forces with Danish horror filmmaker KIM SØNDERHOLM, to make his film “The Horror Vault 1” available for free download. Early 2010 will see the release of VRANGSINN’s own movie/multimedia project “Phobia” which was recently debuted at an art gallery exhibition in Norway, and Misantrof will make its first foray into Vinyl, with the release of TOXIC DEATH’s “Happy Fukking Holocaust” in a gatefold collectors edition. More information about Misantrof and free downloads of all its releases can be found at www.misantrof.net

DANIEL VRANGSINN, bass player with Norwegian Black Metal legends CARPATHIAN FOREST, producer, and founder of the Misantrof AntiLabel, will debut his new album “Phobia” at the "Do What Thou Wilt Shall Be The Key To The World", art exhibition that will open at the Kurant Art Gallery, in Tromsø, Norway, on Friday 13 November. The exhibition features eight national and international artists from satanic/occult/black metal backgrounds, whose art deals with the darker aspects of life, and who are consequently often perceived as “extreme”. The exhibition will comprise traditional mediums such as paintings and sculptures, alongside pieces of video art, into which category VRANGSINN’S “Phobia” fits, as each song on the album can either be listened to as a straightforward music track, or watched as a video. This will be the first time “Phobia” is shown in its entirety, and it is planned to project the video onto a wall outside the gallery, or even a snow bank, conditions permitting. As its name suggests, the album is an exploration of phobias through the use of video, music, lyrics, art, and photography, and includes collaborations with artists from various disciplines. Commenting on this departure from the realms of music, VRANGSINN said, “I have always seen art as having no boundaries, and with “Phobia” I was trying to do something that although it has music as its core, it also encompasses other mediums. I was surprised when I was asked if I was interested in having some of my work featured in this exhibition, because I hadn’t at that point really considered anything similar, but it absolutely fits into my idea of making art limitless, so I jumped at the chance. I doubt if many albums have been previewed as an actual exhibit and it seemed like the ideal situation in which to debut “Phobia”, as it is so much more than a straightforward musical project. “Phobia” is also a tribute to the late EIRIK SKRANGLE, an extraordinarily original musician and human being, with whom I have worked closely over the years on many projects, including “Phobia” and who would have relished the idea of seeing his work shown in this way”. “Phobia” is due to be released on the Misantrof AntiLabel later this year, and will be available for free download in keeping with Misantrof’s policies. The "Do What Thou Wilt Shall Be The Key To The World" exhibition, can be seen at theKurant Art Gallery, Søndre Tollbodgate 17, 9008 Tromsø, Norway, from Friday 13 November, and will run for 2 weeks. Negotiations are currently under way to take the exhibition to other galleries throughout Europe. Artists taking part as follows: Sandro Gronchi (Italy) Pietro Riparbelli (Italy) Milovan Novakovic (Montenegro) Karen Nikgol (Norway/Iran) Daniel Vrangsinn (Norway) Espen Lomsdalen (Norway) Karl Edvin Endresen (Norway) Sindre Foss Skancke (Norway) More information about VRANGSINN can be found on his MySpace page at http://www.myspace.com/officialvrangsinn Below you can see a video of VRANGSINN testing some audio and visual ideas for a track on “Phobia” in his own, inimitable way. Carpathian Forest's Daniel Vrangsinn talks in-depth about his Misantrof "anti" label. Find out about the philosophy behind it, the criteria used for band selection, and how, for once, bands get all the benefits for themselves, rather than the label.
You can also check out all the bands, and find out how to download the material for free, because that's what Misantrof is all about - free and legal access to music.

Probably the member of CARPATHIAN FOREST who is the most active on the music scene is bass player Vrangsinn. Aside from his work with CF and NATTEFROST, he has a shed load of other projects, which we'll tell you about as things happen. He also heads up the Misantrof AntiRecords label, and is a producer for bands such as NATTEFROST, DEATHCULT etc. Today he is in the studio where he is producing the new album from punk/thrashers TOXIC DEATH, and they will be laying down the vocals. You can check out the band at www.myspace.com/toxikdeathVrangsinn himself is at www.myspace.com/officialvrangsinn, and if you don't know his own work, you will be VERY surprised at how different and unusual it is.

CARPATHIAN FOREST is not just a band, it's also a group of individuals, each with their own talents, and each with their own projects, and we are planning to tell you more about what each member does outside of CF, and keep you updated with any news relating to them.
We are actually starting with ex-member Tchort, whose band BLOOD RED THRONE has this week released their new album "Souls of Damnation" in Europe. It will see its US release on the 30th June. Tchort, as some of you know, ran this page until he left the band, and built it up to what it is now.

When he's one of the dozens of fakes on MySpace and elsewhere pretending to be NATTEFROST! We've even had someone getting bands to send music.
So please be careful when someone says they are NATTEFROST because 99.9999% of the time you can be sure it's NOT. He is rarely on the internet and never uses MSN or any other form of Instant Messaging.
So just to be certain, the pages below are the ONLY pages anywhere that are run by NATTEFROST and his management, and no other pages claiming to be NATTEFROST or CARPATHIAN FOREST (yep, there are lots of those too) have any contact with him whatsoever: MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/nattefrostmanagement Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/pages/NATTEFROST/116058035276 ReverbNation: http://www.reverbnation.com/nattefrostmanagement Engangsgrill (run together with Indie Recordings): http://www.myspace.com/engangsgrill
This page of course is run by VRANGSINN himself, together with Nattefrost's manager, so if you are sending us messages, you're getting through to the real deal!
If you think you might have been conned by any fakes please let us know.
