Mark Holmes has proven to be one of the key producers on MUM since the launch of the label.

Mark's profile is growing at an incredible rate, and deservedly so. Scoring two No.1's in the DJ Mag Dancefloor Destroyers chart this year, plus of course his rock solid remix for Rulers Of The Deep 'Last Survivor' which also hit the No.1 spot - there's no mistaking that the Mark Holmes sound is on point.

His work has caught the attention of labels such as
Killawatt, Baroque, Sci+Tech, Craft, Azuli, 54 Music, Slave who have/about to have releases and remixes from Mark along with his long term studio partners OD Muzique and Ticker.

Every now and again we move outside of our circle in Manchester to sign an artist that's made an impression on us, like Rulers Of The Deep and Cylon for example.

This time we've taken a detour to one of our favourite cities, Berlin, where we discovered future techno hero Squoid. Although a newcomer to the scene and having only had a couple of releases under his belt, Squoid already has the support of luminaries such as Dubfire, Tomcraft, Fergie to name a few!
We think we'll be hearing alot more from this Berlin based producer in 2010, and we're very pleased to bring you this very accomplished early work - the Danuor EP.

OHM Review - Dean Facer
MUM is certainly firing releases out thick and fast, this being release number 20 already, but the man behind the label, Jonathan Waller has certainly kept the quality very high indeed. This release from Berlin based Squoid is as strong as all the others. Deep, driving, uncompromising squelchy techno from the city with certainly the best techno scene. Infectious and innovative, a must have EP!!

Kean Top
Another hectic month behind us, following on from ADE and with the release of the fantastic Rulers Of The Deep album 'Untitled Secret' on Digital, CD and the release of the classic ROTD 'Last Surivor' on 12" Vinyl...

But we're not slowing down!

In fact we're turning up the heat for the winter months ahead starting right now, with the long awaited debut ep on MUM from Tempered DJ's. We've seen some top notch collaborations and blinding remixes from Tempered this year. Their recent remix of H2 'The Bus To Mexico City' has picked up huge support including from Eddie Haliwell and their amazing re-work of  Age Of Love has started a bit of a revival being hammered by everyone since the summer from Lucien Foort to Carl Cox who has been playing this at Space, Ibiza as well as on his radio show..

So here it is - entitled 'Kean's Changed' the EP delivers in true Tempered style - We believe some of their finest work to date!

Mexico 40

Once again, we're very excited about our next release !! - this time it's from Manchester duo and Sankeys residents H2, who've been making quite a name for themselves. The very large release 'Clocks' on Love Minus Zero earlier this year established them as a dj/production outfit to keep a close eye on, and with remix projects forthcoming for D Ramirez & Popof, plus their earlier collaboration with Mark Holmes 'Lazerbeams' on MUM this has been quite a year for H2.

When we heard this - the Mexico City EP we snapped it up immediately and the whole MUM crew loved the originals so much they all got involved - hence a Grade A slammin package for you to enjoy!

First of all a big thank you to all our supporters. Our current release by Curious George & The Agent 'Flying EP' has hit Top 10 on Juno, Trackitdown, DJdownload, DJShop.DE, DJtunes and Top 100 on Beatport!

Our last Promo - Rulers Of The Deep - Last Survivor has entered the Cool Cuts Chart, and has been made Record Of The Week on Xpressbeats ahead of it's official release.

We are very pleased to bring you another exciting project from Mark Holmes & Lewis Keykay with 'The Bone Yard EP'.
Both are residents at Sankeys in Manchester and Lewis Keykay is also head honcho at the successful Moov imprint making him a very busy and respected player on the scene. Mark Holmes is no slouch either having just released his mammoth '& Friends' EP on MUM and together with studio partners OD Muzique has also seen releases and forthcoming remixes on labels including Azuli,  Killawatt, Craft, Sci+Tech, Baroque... On 4 October Mark was a guest on Kiss FM Australia we're he delivered a 1 hour mix for the DMH Discovery Show - http://dancemusichub.com/?..redirectTo=http://..dancemusichub.com/catalog/dj/..dmh-discovery-radio/

Some of this release has already had early support from the likes of Mark Knight, Sonny Wharton, Rulers Of The Deep.
Plod as some of you will recognised was previously released on the Mark Holmes & Friends EP as 'The Plod'. The reaction on this was so huge we thought we'd re-promote it on this EP with a very tasty remix from DJ Meri of ROTD under his Cylon guise. If you already have the original Plod in your bag, check this new version as it's been given a mighty boost & ReMastered for this release!
Boneyard has also already proven itself as a vinyl only release on MUM and charted high on Juno's Tech House vinyl sales chart. Opus is another slice of magic from the talented duo and has already had big support and airplay from Rosie Romero.

You cannot help but love those spaced out sounds and deep voice destruction warnings. Recalling the ‘War of the Worlds’ as a sequel type affair adds loads of really interesting input. Leggz & Femmi B remix is almost knocking atr the commercial door…No that’s not quite right… It’s blowing those doors away. Eights and stabbing keyboards to the fore, and a supporting spook to ensure we all get away safely. Who could ignore the instructions? All it really needs to say is ‘Get you’re a** on that dancefloor and shake something…’ Superb.

Flying EP 40

oh yes - here it is... the eagerly anticipated follow up to the 'Serious EP' from Curious George & The Agent.

Having made a considerable impression this year with a strong set of releases behind them and a string of solid remixes including the hugely successful Rosie Romero & Beatmode 'Tungesti', DJ Meri pres Cylon 'Sekvoia' which resided for over a month in the DJ Mag and Beatport Charts, not to mention their remix of 'Chase The Sun' which has exploded across the globe gaining support from the underground and beyond!

So, now the boys have taken off, this, their new project is simply entitled 'Flying EP'.

Four rock solid tracks in their unique style, tried and tested in their sets at clubs and festivals including Area 51 and Creamfields to huge reactions which has lead to compilation licensing requests ahead of release!

Here we have some strange excursions, but they do take you away on a journey, imagining all sorts of adventures from wild train rides through densely packed forest and rock regions, to the inevitable pleasures of the outer sides along Patpong. ‘De Cuerda’ has a nicely paced rhythm to it, and ‘Don’t you’ will set you on a trail towards the dance floor.

Manchester Underground Music (MUM)

MUM014 - Nik Feral - Two Lovers - Promo Only

Unfortunately Summer is drawing to a close - but it's not over until the fat lady sings, or in this case not until Nik Feral starts strumming his spanish guitar!

A rising star on the Manchester scene resident at the infamous 'Smugglers Run' Boat Parties and regularly djing at Minimal Market in Cheltenham, Nik has releases on labels including Monu Digital and his rather large 'Geben Es An Der Zeit' on Mad Hatter.

Although influenced by names such as Ritchie Hawtin, Luciano, Adam Bayer and Ricardo Villalobos, Nik is determined to bring a definite edge to the existing scene…

“Techno can get a bit of a bad rap” says Nik, “Because a lot of what people hear is dark and serious it can turn them off. I want to show another side to the genre and get people tapped into the more melodic vibe, stuff that you just can’t help dancing to.”

With "Two Lovers" Nik manages just that - the original version being a tough minimal affair, and then that quirky spanish guitar introduces a hypnotic edge and catches you off guard on the break to great effect.

Jus Phil delivers a masterful mix, delving into his vast experience of clubland with gigs across Europe, Sankeys, Ministry and (for the triva fans) dating back to his uncle running the door at the legendary Hacienda.

Label favourites Tempered DJs join the fiesta and drop a solid techy slice true to form.

Some Feedback:

DJ Meri (Rulers Of The Deep) "Perfect package! Original is cool, Jus Phil brings nice techy edge and Tempered DJ's known quality sound is my favorite at the moment!"

Neil Quigley "Nice modern summer grooves on the original, cheers"

Sergio Matina "Tempered DJs Remix is really groovy... play & support it..."

DJ Dove  "The Jus Phil remix is very solid"

Peter McGill "Tempered dj's mix. 5/5"
