----------------- Bulletin Message ----------------- From: EX G.I. Joe Date: Oct 22, 2008 3:08 AM OUR FOOD IS CONTAMINATED, LOOK UP THE DANGEROUS WEIRD SOUNDING CHEMICALS IN THE FOOD YOU EAT AND THEN STOP EATING/DRINKING THEM!!!!!!!PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS, REPOST, COMMENT OR MESSAGE ME WITH MORE DANGEROUS INGREDIENTS!!!Coca-Cola, Diet Pepsi, Sprite, Oasis, Dr Pepper Sodium Benzoate - Sodium benzoate is a preservative. It is bacteriostatic and fungistatic under acidic conditions. It is used most prevalently in acidic foods such as salad dressings (vinegar), carbonated drinks (carbonic acid), jams and fruit juices (citric acid), pickles (vinegar), and condiments. It is also found in alcohol-based mouthwash and silver polish. It can also be found in cough syrups like Robitussin.[1] Sodium benzoate is declared on a product label as 'sodium benzoate' or E211. For those who can taste the chemical, it tends to be perceived as sweet, sour, salty, or sometimes bitter. It is also used in fireworks as a fuel in whistle mix, a powder which imparts a whistling noise when compressed into a tube and ignited. In combination with ascorbic acid (vitamin C, E300), sodium benzoate and potassium benzoate may form benzene[7], a known carcinogen. Professor Peter Piper of the University of Sheffield claims that sodium benzoate by itself can damage and inactivate vital parts of DNA in a cell's mitochondria. Mitochondria consume oxygen to generate ATP, the body's energy currency. If they are damaged due to disease, the cell malfunctions and may enter apoptosis. There are many illnesses now tied to DNA damage, including Parkinson's and other neurodegenerative diseases, but above all, the aging process in general. Research published in 2007 for the UK's Food Standards Agency suggests that sodium benzoate (E211) is linked to hyperactive behaviour and decreased intelligence in children. According to the report, a high consumption of sodium benzoate is associated with a reduction in IQ of close to 5.5 points. [13] On 6 September 2007, the British Food Standards Agency issued revised advice on certain artificial food additives, including sodium benzoate People who suffer from asthma, or who have recurrent urticaria, may be sensitive to sodium benzoate and have allergic reactions. Sodium benzoate and tartrazine exacerbate the condition in between 10 and 40 percent of patients with chronic urticaria, and possibly a higher proportion still of aspirin sensitive individuals. Looking around on the net, I came across these. 12 Dangerous Food Additives: The Dirty Dozen Food Additives You Really Need to be Aware Of by www. SixWise. comIn the United States, more than 3,000 substances can be added to foods for the purpose of preservation, coloring, texture, increasing flavor and more. While each of these substances is legal to use (at least here in the States), whether or not they are all something you want to be consuming is another story all together. The food colorings that make candy pretty colors have been linked to cancer and tumors of the brain, thyroid, adrenal gland and kidney in animal studies. With any processed food you run the risk of coming across additives, and reading through ingredient labels can be like trying to decode a puzzle. Of course, eating largely fresh, whole foods is the best way to stay away from unsavory additives, but, assuming you do include some processed foods in your diet, the following additives are ones you surely want to stay away from. Look for them on ingredient labels and if one turns up, take a pass. If you want to know more about the effects of food additives on your brain, check out this FREE 300+-page e-book " Neurotoxicity: Identifying and Controlling Poisons of the Nervous System. " Some food additives are neurotoxic, which means they're capable of altering the normal activity of the nervous system -- and even killing neurons. Symptoms include: * Limb weakness or numbness * Loss of memory, vision, and intellect * Headache * Cognitive and behavioral problems * Sexual dysfunction Propyl GallateThis preservative, used to prevent fats and oils from spoiling, might cause cancer. It's used in vegetable oil, meat products, potato sticks, chicken soup base and chewing gum, and is often used with BHA and BHT (see below). BHA and BHTButylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) and butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) are used similarly to propyl gallate -- to keep fats and oils from going rancid. Used commonly in cereals, chewing gum, vegetable oil and potato chips (and also in some food packaging to preserve freshness), these additives have been found by some studies to cause cancer in rats. If a brand you commonly buy uses these additives, look for a different variety, as not all manufacturers use these preservatives. Potassium BromateThis additive is used in breads and rolls to increase the volume and produce a fine crumb structure. Although most bromate breaks down into bromide, which is harmless, the bromate that does remain causes cancer in animals. Bromate has been banned throughout the world, except for in the United States and Japan. In California, a cancer warning would likely be required if it were used, which is why it is rarely used in that state. Monosodium glutamate (MSG)MSG is used as a flavor enhancer in many packaged foods, including soups, salad dressings, sausages, hot dogs, canned tuna, potato chips and many more. According to Dr. Russell Blaylock, an author and neurosurgeon, there is a link between sudden cardiac death, particularly in athletes, and excitotoxic damage caused by food additives like MSG and artificial sweeteners. Excitotoxins are, according to Dr. Blaylock, "A group of excitatory amino acids that can cause sensitive neurons to die. " Many consumers have also personally experienced the ill effects of MSG, which leave them with a headache, nausea or vomiting after eating MSG-containing foods. To find out more about the side effects associated with MSG, as well as a complete list of which foods contain it, see our past article MSG: If it's Safe: Why do They Disguise it on the Labels? Aspartame (Equal, NutraSweet)This artificial sweetener is found in Equal and NutraSweet, along with products that contain them (diet sodas and other low-cal and diet foods). This sweetener has been found to cause brain tumors in rats as far back as the 1970s, however a more recent study in 2005 found that even small doses increase the incidence of lymphomas and leukemia in rats, along with brain tumors. People who are sensitive to aspartame may also suffer from headaches, dizziness and hallucinations after consuming it. Acesulfame-KAcesulfame-K is an artificial sweetener that's about 200 times sweeter than sugar. It's used in baked goods, chewing gum, gelatin desserts and soft drinks. Two rat studies have found that this substance may cause cancer, and other studies to reliably prove this additive's safety have not been conducted. Acesulfame-K also breaks down into acetoacetamide, which has been found to affect the thyroid in rats, rabbits and dogs. OlestraOlestra is a fat substitute used in crackers and potato chips, marketed under the brand name Olean. This synthetic fat is not absorbed by the body (instead it goes right through it), so it can cause diarrhea, loose stools, abdominal cramps and flatulence, along with other effects. Further, olestra reduces the body's ability to absorb beneficial fat-soluble nutrients, including lycopene, lutein and beta-carotene. Sodium Nitrite (Sodium Nitrate)Like diet soda? The aspartame that's used to sweeten it increases lymphomas, leukemia and brain tumors in rats -- even in small doses. Sodium nitrite (or sodium nitrate) is used as a preservative, coloring and flavoring in bacon, ham, hot dogs, luncheon meats, corned beef, smoked fish and other processed meats. These additives can lead to the formation of cancer-causing chemicals called nitrosamines. Some studies have found a link between consuming cured meats and nitrite and cancer in humans. Hydrogenated Vegetable OilThe process used to make hydrogenated vegetable oil (or partially hydrogenated vegetable oil) creates trans fats, which promote heart disease and diabetes. The Institute of Medicine has advised that consumers should eat as little trans fat as possible. You should avoid anything with these ingredients on the label, which includes some margarine, vegetable shortening, crackers, cookies, baked goods, salad dressings, bread and more. It's used because it reduces cost and increases the shelf life and flavor stability of foods. Blue 1 and Blue 2Blue 1, used to color candy, beverages and baked goods, may cause cancer. Blue 2, found in pet food, candy and beverages, has caused brain tumors in mice. Red 3This food coloring is used in cherries (in fruit cocktails), baked goods and candy. It causes thyroid tumors in rats, and may cause them in humans as well. Yellow 6As the third most often used food coloring, yellow 6 is found in many products, including backed goods, candy, gelatin and sausages. It has been found to cause adrenal gland and kidney tumors, and contains small amounts of many carcinogens. 'Secretive' Chemicals Being Hidden in Food Under 'Artificial Flavors' LabelYou Thought MSG Was Bad? At least they admit that it's in there... well, mostly. Have you picked up a can of soup lately and noticed that the sodium levels are lower? Seen a label that said, "No MSG"? How about realizing that there is less sugar on the label of your favorite ice cream? Believe it or not, this is cause for concern. This article has been especially hard to compose. "Why?", you may ask. There is simply not much information to be found on the subject. It has taken weeks of internet research to uncover the smidgeon of information that has been acquired. A relatively young company, Senomyx, may be responsible for the sodium and sugar levels falling in your favorite grocery store item. How are they doing this without affecting the taste? The truth is, they may be putting chemicals into your food right now without you even realizing it and without telling you. And guess what? They don't have to. Senomyx has contracted with Kraft, Nestle, Coca Cola, Campbell Soup to put a chemical in foods that masks bitter flavors by turning off bitter flavor receptors on the tongue and enhancing salty and sweet flavors. This would allow the companies to tout claims such as "less sugar" or "lower sodium" by reducing the actual sugar and/or salt by approximately half, but the foods will retain the same level of sweetness or saltiness when they touch the tongue by fooling your brain. All of the companies, although admitting the exclusive contracting rights, decline to identify which foods and beverages the chemical additives have been or will be added to. These chemical compounds are not required to be listed separately on food labels. On the contrary, they will be lobbed under the umbrella of "artificial flavors" which is already found on most food labels. The foods that seem to be most in jeopardy of an insurrection of these new chemicals: soups, juices (fruit and vegetable), ice cream, and sauces. "We are helping companies clean up their labels," said Kent Snyder, chief executive of Senomyx. Mark Zoller, Senomyx's chief scientist, says that his company has used the human genome sequence and identified hundreds of taste receptors. Senomyx's chemical compounds enhance those receptors to heighten the taste of salt or sugar. Under this premise, they go on to claim that their newly added chemicals are completely safe because they will be used in tiny quantities of less than one part per million whereas artificial sweeteners are used in 200-500 parts per million. This fact alone allows them to forgo the rigorous FDA approval process when introducing new food additives into the marketplace. Attaining the status of GRAS (generally recognized as safe) from the Flavor and Extract Manufacturers Association for their most advanced product that replaces MSG, took this fledgling company less than an 18 month time frame by introducing a safety study of rats conducted for 3 months. Executive Director of the Center for Science in the Public Interest, Michael Jacobson, commended Senomyx's strides to reduce MSG, salt, and sugar but warned against introducing a new chemical additive into the food supply without strenuous testing. "A three-month study is completely inadequate," he said. "What you want is at least a two-year study on several species of animals. " After pouring a total of 30 million dollars into research and development, the companies that have invested into Senomyx's products have been secretive, to say the least, about their involvement within the company. Some, like Kraft, have declined to divulge any specifics regarding their relationship with Senomyx but instead stated that Kraft was committed "to reducing the sugar and salt levels in many products. " Nestle and Coca Cola declined to comment. I think silence says it all. The mainstream media is engaged in what we Americans call “bald
faced lies” about swine flu. It seems to be true with this issue more
than any other, and it became apparent to me recently when a colleague
of mine — a nationally-syndicated newspaper columnist — told me their
column on natural defenses for swine flu was rejected by newspapers all
across the country. Many newspapers refused to run the column and,
instead, ran an ad for “free vaccine clinics” in the same space.

The media is so deeply in bed with the culture of vaccinations that they will do almost anything to keep the public misinformed. |

The media, it seems, is so deeply in bed with the culture of
vaccinations that they will do almost anything to keep the public
misinformed. And that includes lying about swine flu vaccines.
Lie #1 – There are no adjuvants used in the vaccines
I was recently being interviewed by a major U.S. news network when
the reporter interviewing me came up with this humdinger: There are no adjuvants being used in the swine flu vaccines, he said!
I assured him that adjuvants were, indeed, a crucial part of the
vaccine recipe, and they were being widely used by drug companies to
“stretch” the vaccine supply. It’s no secret. But he insisted he had
been directly told by a drug company rep that no adjuvants were being
used at all. And he believed them! So everything being published by
this large news network about swine flu vaccines now assumes there are
no adjuvants in the vaccines at all.
Lie #2 – The swine flu is more dangerous than seasonal flu
This lie is finally starting to unravel. I admit that in the early days of this pandemic,
even I was concerned this could be a global killer. But after observing
the very mild impact the virus was having on people in the real world,
it became obvious that this was a mild flu, no more dangerous than a
seasonal flu.
The MSM, however, continues to promote H1N1
swine flu as being super dangerous, driving fear into the minds of
people and encouraging them to rush out and get a vaccine shot for a
flu that’s really no more likely to kill them than the regular winter
sniffles. Sure, the virus could still mutate into something far worse,
but if it does that, the current vaccine could be rendered obsolete
anyway!
Lie #3 – Vaccines protect you from swine flu
This is the biggest lie of all, and the media pushes it hard.
Getting a vaccine, they insist, will protect you from the swine flu.
But it’s just flat-out false. Even if the vaccine produces antibodies,
that’s not the same thing as real-world immunity from a live virus,
especially if the virus mutates (as they often do).
As I pointed out in a recent article, statistically speaking the average American is 40 times more likely to be struck by lightning than to have their life saved by a swine flu vaccine. ( http://www.naturalnews.com/026955_s…)
Lie #4 – Vaccines are safe
And how would any journalists actually know this? None of the
vaccines have been subjected to real-world testing for any meaningful
duration. The “safety” of these vaccines is nothing more than wishful
thinking.
The MSM also doesn’t want you to know what’s in the vaccines. Some
vaccines are made from viral fragments grown in diseased African
monkeys. If that sounds incredible, read the true story here: http://www.naturalnews.com/026779_s…
Lie #5 – The vaccine isn’t mandatory
You hear this lie all the time: The swine flu vaccine
shot is voluntary, they say. But it’s not true if you’re an employee at
a place where vaccines are being mandated. Millions of Americans are
now being told by their employers that if they don’t get vaccine shots,
they will be effectively fired from their jobs. It’s especially true
with health care workers, day care employees and school teachers.
Lie #6 – Getting a vaccine shot is a good bet on your health
In reality, a vaccine shot is far more likely to harm you than help
you. According to one viral expert, the actual mortality rate of the
swine flu virus is estimated to be as low as .007 percent ( http://www.reuters.com/article/heal…). That means H1N1 swine flu kills less than one person in 100,000. Even if the vaccine works, let’s say, 10 percent of the time, you’d have to vaccine one million people to prevent one death from swine flu.
And in vaccinating one million people, you would inevitably harm or
kill several people, simply from the vaccine side effects! Your net
risk of death is increased by getting a swine flu vaccine.
Lie #7 – The vaccine isn’t made with “attenuated live virus”
When the swine flu vaccines were first being announced several
months ago, they were described as being made with “attenuated live
virus.” This was directly mentioned in CDC documents, among other
places.
This term apparently freaked out the American news consumer, and it
has since been all but erased from any discussion about vaccines. Now,
journalists will actually argue with you and insist the vaccines
contain no attenuated live viruses whatsoever.
Except they’re wrong. The vaccines are, indeed, made with
“attenuated live viruses.” That’s how you make a vaccine: You take live
viruses, then you weaken them (”attenuate”) and inject them into people.
Lie #8 – Wash, wash, wash your hands (to avoid exposure)
This idea of washing your hands a hundred times a day is all based on the assumption that you can avoid exposure
to the swine flu virus. But that’s impractical. The virus is now so
widespread that virtually everyone is certain to be exposed to it
through the air if not other means. This whole idea of avoiding
exposure to the swine flu virus is nonsense. The conversation should
shift to ways to survive exposure via a healthy immune system.
Of course, hand washing is a very good idea in a hospital
setting. Recent news reveals that doctors are too busy to wash their
own hands, resulting in the rampant spread of superbugs throughout most
large hospitals in first world nations.
Lie #9 – Children are more vulnerable to swine flu than adults
This is just a flat-out lie, but it makes for good vaccine sales.
Vaccines are right now being targeted primarily to schoolchildren.
But the truth is that swine flu is extremely mild in children. “It’s
mildest in kids,” says Dr Marc Lipsitch of Harvard University. “That’s
one of the really good pieces of news in this pandemic.” Reuters
actually had the guts to report this story, but most of the larger media outlets are still reporting that children are the most vulnerable.
Lie #10 – There is nothing else you can do beyond a vaccine and Tamiflu
This is where the media lies by omission. The mainstream media
absolutely refuses to print just about any story that talks about using
vitamin D, anti-viral herbs or natural remedies to protect yourself
from swine flu. In the MSM, there are two options and only two:
Vaccines and Tamiflu. That’s it. No other options exist in their
fictional reality.
Why is the mainstream media so afraid to print the truth these days?
Why can’t reporting on swine flu see the light of day… literally, with
a mention of sunlight and vitamin D? Apparently, Big Pharma has such a
tight grip on mainstream newspapers that no true story on swine flu can ever make it past the editor’s desk.
Killing stories, deceiving the public
It must really be depressing to work for the mainstream media. Even
the reporters I know can’t stand it. The truth, they admit, rarely
makes it into print.
Over the last few years, I’ve had a couple of job offers from large
media outlets. They want to pay me a six-figure salary and stick me
behind a desk where they can control what I report. Needless to say, I
routinely reject those offers. If I can’t write the truth like I do
here on NaturalNews.com, there’s no point writing at all. In too many
ways, the mainstream media has become little more than a corporate
mouthpiece, whoring itself out to the highest bidder / advertiser.
It’s no fault of the frontline reporters who actually work there.
For the most part, they agree with what I’m saying. It’s the fault of
the profit-oriented corporate mindset where news is about selling
newspapers rather than actually informing the public.
Important news stories get killed every day in the newsrooms across America.
They get killed not because they are poorly investigated or poorly
written, but because they upset advertisers and corporate string
pullers who shape the news and reject any stories that threaten their
own financial interests.
Here in 2009, the distorted reporting on the swine flu vaccine has
been one of the greatest media frauds ever perpetrated. The media has
in every way contributed to the widespread ignorance of the American
people on the subject of vitamin D and natural immune-boosting defenses
that could reduce swine flu fatalities. Rather than informing readers,
the MSM has made it a point to keep the people stupid, and in doing so,
the media has failed its only mission and betrayed the very audience is
claims to serve.

- Time Is Running Out -
From Ron Paul 9-25-8 -
..tr> - Dear Friends,
-
- Whenever a Great Bipartisan Consensus is announced, and a compliant media assures everyone that the wondrous actions of our wise leaders are being taken for our own good, you can know with absolute certainty that disaster is about to strike.
-
- The events of the past week are no exception.
-
- The bailout package that is about to be rammed down Congress' throat is not just economically foolish. It is downright sinister. It makes a mockery of our Constitution, which our leaders should never again bother pretending is still in effect. It promises the American people a never-ending nightmare of ever-greater debt liabilities they will have to shoulder. Two weeks ago, financial analyst Jim Rogers said the bailout of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac made America more communist than China! "This is welfare for the rich," he said. "This is socialism for the rich. It's bailing out the financiers, the banks, the Wall Streeters."
-
- That describes the current bailout package to a T. And we're being told it's unavoidable.
-
- The claim that the market caused all this is so staggeringly foolish that only politicians and the media could pretend to believe it. But that has become the conventional wisdom, with the desired result that those responsible for the credit bubble and its predictable consequences - predictable, that is, to those who understand sound, Austrian economics - are being let off the hook. The Federal Reserve System is actually positioning itself as the savior, rather than the culprit, in this mess!
-
- * The Treasury Secretary is authorized to purchase up to $700 billion in mortgage-related assets at any one time. That means $700 billion is only the very beginning of what will hit us.
-
- * Financial institutions are "designated as financial agents of the Government." This is the New Deal to end all New Deals.
-
- * Then there's this: "Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency." Translation: the Secretary can buy up whatever junk debt he wants to, burden the American people with it, and be subject to no one in the process.
-
- There goes your country.
-
- Even some so-called free-market economists are calling all this "sadly necessary." Sad, yes. Necessary? Don't make me laugh.
-
- Our one-party system is complicit in yet another crime against the American people. The two major party candidates for president themselves initially indicated their strong support for bailouts of this kind - another example of the big choice we're supposedly presented with this November: yes or yes. Now, with a backlash brewing, they're not quite sure what their views are. A sad display, really.
-
- Although the present bailout package is almost certainly not the end of the political atrocities we'll witness in connection with the crisis, time is short. Congress may vote as soon as tomorrow. With a Rasmussen poll finding support for the bailout at an anemic seven percent, some members of Congress are afraid to vote for it. Call them! Let them hear from you! Tell them you will never vote for anyone who supports this atrocity.
-
- The issue boils down to this: do we care about freedom? Do we care about responsibility and accountability? Do we care that our government and media have been bought and paid for? Do we care that average Americans are about to be looted in order to subsidize the fattest of cats on Wall Street and in government? Do we care?
-
- When the chips are down, will we stand up and fight, even if it means standing up against every stripe of fashionable opinion in politics and the media?
-
- Times like these have a way of telling us what kind of a people we are, and what kind of country we shall be.
-
- In liberty,
-
- Ron Paul

Treasury Pulled $700 billion price tag out of Thin AirFrom GoergeWashingtonblogspot Treasury Pulled the Number Out of Thin Air You know the $700 billion price tag of the proposed bailout? Treasury pulled that number out of thin air.. As Forbes writes: In fact, some of the most basic details, including the $700 billion figure Treasury would use to buy up bad debt, are fuzzy.. "It's not based on any particular data point," a Treasury spokeswoman told Forbes.com Tuesday. "We just wanted to choose a really large number." Forbes.com ***Exclusive spycam video of Treasury meeting*** *********************************************************************************** from- The WhiteRose Resistance-click to add as a friend Paulson Bailout Plan a Historic Swindle Paulson Bailout Plan a Historic Swindle
September 19, 2008 Financial-market wise guys, who had been seized with fear, are suddenly drunk with hope. They are rallying explosively because they think they have successfully stampeded Washington into accepting the Wall Street Journal solution to the crisis: dump it all on the taxpayers. That is the meaning of the massive bailout Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson has shopped around Congress. It would relieve the major banks and investment firms of their mountainous rotten assets and make the public swallow their losses--many hundreds of billions, maybe much more. What's not to like if you are a financial titan threatened with extinction? If Wall Street gets away with this, it will represent an historic swindle of the American public--all sugar for the villains, lasting pain and damage for the victims. My advice to Washington politicians: Stop, take a deep breath and examine what you are being told to do by so-called "responsible opinion." If this deal succeeds, I predict it will become a transforming event in American politics--exposing the deep deformities in our democracy and launching a tidal wave of righteous anger and popular rebellion. As I have been saying for several months, this crisis has the potential to bring down one or both political parties, take your choice.. Christopher Whalen of Institutional Risk Analytics, a brave conservative critic, put it plainly: "The joyous reception from Congressional Democrats to Paulson's latest massive bailout proposal smells an awful lot like yet another corporatist lovefest between Washington's one-party government and the Sell Side investment banks.." A kindred critic, Josh Rosner of Graham Fisher in New York, defined the sponsors of this stampede to action: "Let us be clear, it is not citizen groups, private investors, equity investors or institutional investors broadly who are calling for this government purchase fund. It is almost exclusively being lobbied for by precisely those institutions that believed they were 'smarter than the rest of us,' institutions who need to get those assets off their balance sheet at an inflated value lest they be at risk of large losses or worse.." Let me be clear. The scandal is not that government is acting. The scandal is that government is not acting forcefully enough--using its ultimate emergency powers to take full control of the financial system and impose order on banks, firms and markets. Stop the music, so to speak, instead of allowing individual financiers and traders to take opportunistic moves to save themselves at the expense of the system. The step-by-step rescues that the Federal Reserve and Treasury have executed to date have failed utterly to reverse the flight of investors and banks worldwide from lending or buying in doubtful times. There is no obvious reason to assume this bailout proposal will change their minds, though it will certainly feel good to the financial houses that get to dump their bad paper on the government.. A serious intervention in which Washington takes charge would, first, require a new central authority to supervise the financial institutions and compel them to support the government's actions to stabilize the system. Government can apply killer leverage to the financial players: accept our objectives and follow our instructions or you are left on your own--cut off from government lending spigots and ineligible for any direct assistance. If they decline to cooperate, the money guys are stuck with their own mess. If they resist the government's orders to keep lending to the real economy of producers and consumers, banks and brokers will be effectively isolated, therefore doomed.. Only with these conditions, and some others, should the federal government be willing to take ownership--temporarily--of the rotten financial assets that are dragging down funds, banks and brokerages. Paulson and the Federal Reserve are trying to replay the bailout approach used in the 1980s for the savings and loan crisis, but this situation is utterly different. The failed S&Ls held real assets--property, houses, shopping centers--that could be readily resold by the Resolution Trust Corporation at bargain prices. This crisis involves ethereal financial instruments of unknowable value--not just the notorious mortgage securities but various derivative contracts and other esoteric deals that may be virtually worthless.. Despite what the pols in Washington think, the RTC bailout was also a Wall Street scandal. Many of the financial firms that had financed the S&L industry's reckless lending got to buy back the same properties for pennies from the RTC--profiting on the upside, then again on the downside. Guess who picked up the tab? I suspect Wall Street is envisioning a similar bonanza--the chance to harvest new profit from their own fraud and criminal irresponsibility.. If government acts responsibly, it will impose some other conditions on any broad rescue for the bankers. First, take due bills from any financial firms that get to hand off their spoiled assets, that is, a hard contract that repays government from any future profits once the crisis is over. Second, when the politicians get around to reforming financial regulations and dismantling the gimmicks and "too big to fail" institutions, Wall Street firms must be prohibited from exercising their usual manipulations of the political system. Call off their lobbyists, bar them from the bribery disguised as campaign contributions. Any contact or conversations between the assisted bankers and financial houses with government agencies or elected politicians must be promptly reported to the public, just as regulated industries are required to do when they call on government regulars.. More important, if the taxpayers are compelled to refinance the villains in this drama, then Americans at large are entitled to equivalent treatment in their crisis. That means the suspension of home foreclosures and personal bankruptcies for debt-soaked families during the duration of this crisis. The debtors will not escape injury and loss--their situation is too dire--but they deserve equal protection from government, the chance to work out things gradually over some years on reasonable terms.. The government, meanwhile, may have to create another emergency agency, something like the New Deal, that lends directly to the real economy--businesses, solvent banks, buyers and sellers in consumer markets. We don't know how much damage has been done to economic growth or how long the cold spell will last, but I don't trust the bankers in the meantime to provide investment capital and credit. If necessary, Washington has to fill that role, too.. Finally, the crisis is global, obviously, and requires concerted global action. Robert A. Johnson, a veteran of global finance now working with the Campaign for America's Future, suggests that our global trading partners may recognize the need for self-interested cooperation and can negotiate temporary--maybe permanent--reforms to balance the trading system and keep it functioning, while leading nations work to put the global financial system back in business.. The agenda is staggering. The United States is ill equipped to deal with it smartly, not to mention wisely. We have a brain-dead lame duck in the White House. The two presidential candidates are trapped by events, trying to say something relevant without getting blamed for the disaster. The people should make themselves heard in Washington, even if only to share their outrage.. I am only one man, but I am a representation, as all of you are, regardless of your race/color/creed of the human spirit, I am blasted by the responsibility I have, I am humbled by the knowledge that I have accrued, I do not have the words or the intellect, as primitive and weak as I am, to somehow reach out to your human soul, and attempt to activate the spirit of the universe that is in all of our souls. I stand before you, blunted, bludgeoned, weakened, I have been programmed by the society, by the peer pressure, by the lust and needs implanted in me, I grew up in Portland, Oregon drinking sodium fluoridated water, all of the scientific studies show that my IQ has been reduced by at least 20 points. The shadow of who I would have been calls out from the grave, the shadow of who you would have been calls out from the soul that is humanity. Your families are being broken up, your children are being trained to commit suicide, our world is in crisis, everything is parasitic, every fulcrum, every bench mark, every root of wholesomeness is under assault, because our enemy eventually seeks to destroy all that is pure, all that is beautiful, all that is strong. But from the grave that is humanity I call out and I say to the elite, what a great mischief you have wrought, what a great dark wickedness you have created, what a blight you are on a beautiful species that had so much promise. I look into the eyes of the elite, the windows into their souls and I see weak, decadent people who revel in the raw exercise of power, they enjoy murdering the innocent child, they revel in killing the widow, they revel in dumbing down the tiny green shoots that are children that would grow into mighty oak trees. Everything they are is anathema, everything they are is counter balance against the spirit of the universe, everything they are is a fraud against life, and a crime against life, that every fiber of my soul cries out against. It is a great pain to me, to see their work, it savages the core of my soul, to witness the innocence degraded, pulled down, bludgeoned, destroyed, burned, decimated, annihilated, kindled to flames, that only sparkle in the eye of the psychopath. We are at the crossroads, we are entering a dangerous time in the development of our species. The least you can do is investigate, the minimum that is expected of you as a sentient being is to question your reality. The minimum is that you realize you are in a box, you are being controlled, you are being fed, and you are having buttons in your mind pushed and controlled. You talk about raw will, the raw will it takes to have the studies of the 1920s and the 1930s where they knew that sodium fluoride and its derivatives caused bone fractures, cancer, destruction of the kidneys, hypothalamus pituitary but mostly brain tissue and IQ damage…and | | | |
