Hey family,

There is an online petition to get Arista to release the too-long-awaited album "Kamaal The Abstract."
This project is really special to me- it was my first time working (as a backup vocalist) with the inspirational and bananas-talented Q-Tip. It was also my introduction to some of the tightest musicians on the planet, future greats like Kiki Hawkins, Kelvin Sholar, Chris Sholar, Joshua David, Jonathan Blake, Aisha Morris (Stevie Wonderful's daughter), Sylvia Gordon (Kudu) and countless others who participated, gave imput, or simply chilled in the studio, adding positive energy to the experience. Even the late great Weldon Irvine (who wrote Nina Simone's "To Be Young, Gifted and Black") came through and blessed a few sessions with his light aura.

It's a truly beautiful record, and the fact that several years later people still crave its official release speaks volumes about its powerful influence (Andre 3000 was so inspired by "Kamaal The Abstract" that he took courage and made his own jazzy, boundary-stretching album "The Love Below")
