Hello people.

At one point or another, you may have noticed that my 'top friend' is a person called "Stone Throwers". It is in fact not a person, but a group of persons. A street team if you will. Now before you go getting all like "Um deleted!", hear me out as I have a competition to announce...

Stone Throwers (the Laura street team) has been a dormant beast. But with my new album due for release in February, they are about to fire the engine up again.

And so, I now introduce the...

"When The Guitar Case Falls Apart (And It Will)" Competition!!!

Background...
I've lovingly been covering my guitar case "Casey" in stickers and lugging him around since 2001. He has accompanied me to every single show and recording session I've ever been a part of. I love him. But he has fallen apart and I can no longer keep him together with gaffa tape and occy straps. I need to replace him.

Here's Casey and I in happier times...
..

And here's the sad state Casey is in now...
..
I'm in serious mourning. Casey is pretty dead.

Anyway, rather than chuck him out, I've decided to fill him with fun stuff & give him to the most hard-working Stone Thrower.

The Casey Prize Pack will go out in February once the new album is out. Casey will be filled with:

-All of my releases on cd: "It Makes A Crunchy Noise" EP, "Magical Washing Machine" single, "Laura Imbruglia" album, "When It All Falls Apart" PROMO single (not available to buy ANYWHERE) & "The Lighter Side Of.." (new album due out in February!).

-"The Lighter Side Of..." on limited edition VINYL!

-A poster or 2. Maybe 3. Different ones, of course.

-A 1-off dvd of my best karaoke adventures, as seen on www.youtube.com/lauraimbruglia (this is clearly the most priceless prize in the pack).

-A double-pass to one of my shows

-A set list

-1 or 2 Laura t-shirts

-A personalised note from me to you.

In order to be in the running to win the Casey Prize Pack you need to join my street team. Just click on the Stone Throwers page and add them as a friend. Easy.

Next up...

Basically you just need to go crazy online, by promoting my upcoming show at Spectrum along with my FREE download of "When It All Falls Apart". Just copy and paste the following link onto as many Myspace pages, HTML allowed forums and various music related websites. Keep track of your work by sending a message to the Stone Throwers with all the links to your work!

Link: ( take out the *** before posting the link)

Click on this poster to be taken to a FREE download of Laura's new single!!!

The most ingenious/hard-working Stone Thrower wins the prize pack.

RIP Casey.

So, JJJ has added my new song "When It All Falls Apart" to spot rotation. This means- every now and then the DJs get a 'spot' in their programme and they can choose from a list of 'spot' songs to play. So it could be good or it could be completely ignored.

For those of you who live outside Australia and don't know who JJJ are, they're Australia's biggest 'alternative' (I use the term loosely) radio station. Their coverage is massive and you really need them behind your music to get exposed to wider Australia. So if I can get played a bit more on their station, a lot of people would hear it and maybe when I play shows in Timbucktoo, people like Greggo and Bazza here might know who I am and come to the gig.

..

And call me crazy, but I think this would be a good thing. Playing to no one is shit and those guys look like they know how to have fun.

So I need you to request the song. Even if you live in another country. Please?

You can just copy & paste this:

Laura Imbruglia "When It All Falls Apart"

It'll take you 2 seconds. Please? I love you long time.

Greggo and Bazza thank you in advance. I'll let you know if this experiment works.

Kind regards, Laura

Hey y'all,

I have some fairly exciting news for you.

We're taking my 1st preview track from my new album to radio this week. The track is called "When It All Falls Apart (And It Will)" and it's on my page if ya wanna listen to it.
To drum up general public interest/euphoria/epidemics n shit, I have also made it FREE to download from my website- click here...

So maybe you want to take advantage of that, I dunno.

Oh, and I just joined twitter because my manager made me. Follow me if you're into that stuff. Stupid technology. It's dumb. I remember life before the internet. When I was a kid I could rollerskate round in circles on the driveway for hours and be entertained. Ahhh, those were the days.

I also have a headline show coming up in December. I'll be playing with a band and supported by super fine bands The Laurels & Wifey.

And I'm gonna wrangle some special Sydney musical guests to help me out on some tunes too! You can buy tickets RIGHT NOW from here!

Check out the poster art, drawn by Christian from Talons...

..

Hope to see ya there, I do.

Hello friends.

It was with extreme sadness and dismay that I learnt on Monday night that The Hopetoun Hotel had closed down.
The Hoey (as it is affectionately referred to by Sydney-siders) was the host to every goddamn launch show I've ever done in Sydney. My e.p. & albums launches, single launches. That's where I play!! And all my friends too!!
I had 2 consecutive headline shows booked for December and have had to condense them into 1 night at another venue. It's not the same!!! Naturally, there are tons of other bands in the same position.

As a Sydney musician and regular live gig-goer, it's pretty much a massive kick in the gut and a stab in the heart too. There's no other venue that ticks all the boxes- location, size, beer price, sound system and general Cheers (where everybody knows your name) kinda vibe. Put simply- I'm devastated.

Apparently there are a lot of issues that need to be fixed in order to make the venue comply to licensing standards and trading needs to cease while these changes are made.
But there seems to be a feeling of dread that it just may never open again.

Everyone's getting behind The Hoey to try and save it. You could join this facebook group:

Save The Hopetoun on Facebook

Can a facebook group pack any punch? I don't know, but it has amassed over 9,000 members in 3 days. That's how beloved the place is.

If anything great happens or any kind of "Save The Hoey" donation bank accounts pop up, I'll be sure to keep y'all updated.

This is a very sad time.

Laura x

Hello. This is what I do now. I sing karaoke. It's pretty much my favourite hobby in the whole wide world.

So, now I present to you...

Laura's Karaoke Adventures!!
Episode 1- Meatloaf

Yeah, it's blurry, I know. I'm working on figuring out how to fix it. There are so many options when saving a streaming video file. The mind boggles.

If you would like to see more of these, visit my videos and subscribe. Alternatively (or as well as), you could subscribe to my youtube channel (www.youtube.com/lauraimbruglia) as I'll be posting more karaoke adventures as time goes on. Msg me your requests and if I feel like singing them I will.

Hey gang,

So it's looking like my album will actually come out early next year with a single or 2 to come out before that. There is lots of planning and behind-the-scenes bureaucratic red tape annoying shit that means you can't just record and album and chuck it out there. Apparently. Don't look at me, I just do as I'm told. I'm the artiste. So to pass the time, I will be posting videos. The 1st one is us recording the album....

The Lighter Side Of...shenanigans

Coming soon...Laura's karaoke adventures!
A fantastic new series where I get drunk and sing other people's songs at my favourite karaoke haunts. Message me your requests if you fancy...

Hey!!! The powers that be have said I could put some new songs up for you to listen to. So I put 4 up. They cover some of the musical area that's on my album but there is more area which you will hear when said album is released. Plenty more area. Like, another 9 songs more area.

I hope you like 'em. I'm really friggin' excited to have something new out there and some new songs to play live. Hopefully I'll be doing some more shows soon and when my new band is ready to start playing shows, we will get rockin' like Dokken. Or Darkthrone. Or Dark Tranquillity. Or Dream Theater. Or Duran Duran.

Anyway, just to fill you in on these tracks...

1. Pauly- This is about my best friend Paul and was written, demo-d and emailed to him in the space of 2 hours to shut him up as he was complaining that I hadn't ever written a song for him. He's a sarcastic smart arse. This will probably be the 1st single.

2. Wouldn't Be Surprised- This song features Nick Huggins (producer) on lap steel & bass and all these songs feature Robbie Avenaim on the drum stool (and of course on the drum skins also. And the cymbals too).

3. Terrible Disease- I've had this song 1/2 finished since before the last album. I was listening to a lot of Cheap Trick when I wrote it and feel that it grew out of a power pop bubble I was in. I'm really happy with the way it turned out...but I didn't really think about how crazy I would look trying to re-create the ending for live performances. The rehearsals have been interesting. Oh dear.

4. When It All Falls Apart- Featuring the rad lead guitar work of Mr Davey Lane (You Am I/The Pictures). Check out the solo. What a legend.

I'll be doing the upcoming FBI Benefit gig with help from a full band! Check out the photo all the FBI fundraising musos posed in on the weekend...the guy next to me (on my left) is pretty fucking awesome.

Welly well well. I have come to the end of my recording blog.
Yesterday was spent doing my last bunch of vocals & harmonies and playing a bit more guitar. And body percussion.

I'm going to listen to what we've done over the weekend and make sure everything's ready to go for mixing. Monday will be our last day to tie everything up before we start mixing. Hooray!

It's been super-fun.

Look out for the album later this year, I reckon it will sound groovy. Once we've mastered this puppy, I'll put a song or 2 up on myspace for your ears.

Kind regards, Laura I.
