more and more young people are tattooing their bodies and face today. But tattoos aren't a modern practice. Native of New Zeland are just one example of how this is an ancient practice.

The native people of New Zeland (Maroi) are world famous fot their tattooing. Tha Maori worked mainly n the face(moko lol) and buttocks (bottom part). They used their same wood carving technique and applied it to tattooing. But when the europeans arrived in the 17000s, they brought metal to these islands. So, the Maori used this metal and started a more conventional world. You can see it not just in photographies, but on the skin.



But what is unusual about the Maori tattooing? what they did with the tattooed chiefs. they preserved the heads of their tattoed chiefs after death. these heads stayed with the family and were an honoured possession. so, these heads had sentimental value. but things changed when the europeans began to visit new zeland. museums and collectors wanted these tattooed heads as curiosities. the Maor didn't wnat to give their heads chief's heads. the museums of europe were stocked with specimens of barbaric face-culture. this was a commercial enterprise, and a monetary traffic.

do people tattoo their bodie today dor some spiritual reason or just becuase they find it beautiful?

...well, you are right, but the tattoos began to do for the sailors who made it as a symbol after it was almost compulsory, was part of his uniform. and the question should be ...

tattoo people for spiritual reasons, it finds that it is an art and why is let, or simply because it is beautiful? :B
