back from the uk, back home now.
the tour was a blast for us in many ways. we had a lot of good shows - but more important we experienced what it means to be part of the d.i.y. community! when we stood with our grounded van in a place called ashford, between the beefeater pub and the "yellow fisherman"-fish and ships, we knew, that a lot of people doin a lot of phonecalls to help us out. in the end it worked out pretty well. but seriously, without the help of daniel, george (and all the great people in brighton) or whisky-rich our gear would still be anywhere on the island.

bands touring the uk and europe - do a weightcheck with your van!!!! overweight can cause you serious trouble!

so thanx a lot daniel, george, mikey, hammers, fall of efrafa, all people at the brighton house, pat and molly, pats grandma, mick, matt, the other matt, ruth, henry, kef, whisky rich, battle of wolf 359, algernon cadwallader and teenage coolkids (those bands helped us lot - later they had the same overweight-problem), all bands we played with, all people who gave us a place to sleep and of course everyone who tried to help us in any way!

so whats coming next?! the last shows we play this year will be stuttgart and lustenau (austria). we are now writing new songs and will enter the studio together with jack in the end of december. new records will come out next year!

hello there. well everythings a bit quiet the last weeks. we all decided to have a little break this month. but while the jetlag-knight and our drummer are doin lazy vacation trips, me and sam are bored to death. good to see that at least daniel is doin some essential work for us in the u.k., check out our tourdates, we have some minor changes and still some dates left. get in touch with us or daniel (the hammers-dude, which is an awesome band btw!). sam is working on new designs for shirts and i have bought a new bass...interesting eeh? ouh, this is important. there will be limited tape-version from our record. it will be out on gaffas del rigor (the name...there is a logic in it). only 66 will be made, if you know gaffas del rigor tapes you what you should expect - check out: http://www.myspace.com/gafasdelrigorcassettes.

Bei Glasses sind Dioptrien und Dezibel das Gleiche

Schlimmer als der Mythos des Comebacks ist eigentlich nur der Mythos der Supergroup. Mitglieder von Bands, die irgendwann mal aus irgendeinem Grund Geltungscredits eingesammelt haben, um sich anschließend untereinander zu zerstreiten und aufzulösen und eine oder einen Sparkassenangestellte/n zu heiraten oder eine Kombination aus allem, finden in anderer Konstellation zueinander und klingen wie ein Haufen abgetakelter Versager, die ihrer Jugend hinterherrennen. Glasses sind glücklicherweise das genaue Gegenteil davon. Sie setzen sich aus Leuten von The 244GL, Trainwreck, Perth Express und The F.A. zusammen und sie schaffen es tatsächlich, das Beste ihrer alten Bands in die neue zu übertragen und aus der Mischung ein Monster zu kneten, das sogar einer Armee aus Entombed, Tragedy und From Ashes Rise für fünf Minuten den Hintern versohlen könnte. Sie klauen ihre Artwork-Ideen bei Ümlaut, die ihre Artwork-Ideen wiederum wie jede zweite Band im Crust- und D-Beat-Sektor bei Motörhead klauen und sie sind allesamt auf die eine oder andere Art sehbehindert. Ohne hier maßlos übertreiben zu wollen, aber wann gab es so was schon mal?

Vice: Wie kommt es, dass ihr jetzt zusammen als Glasses unterwegs seid? Habt ihr zu viel Langeweile neben euren anderen Bands?
Benni (Bass): Mit meiner anderen Band passiert gerade nicht so viel, Perth Express gibt es nicht mehr, Sam ist auch gerade ohne Band, es ist eigentlich nur Marc, der mit Trainwreck zweigleisig fährt.
Rocko (Drums): Marc fragte mich, ob wir nicht mal was zusammen auf die Beine stellen könnten, dann haben wir überlegt, wer als Bassist in Frage kommt, dadurch war dann Benni mit dabei.
Sam (Vocals): Ich kannte am Anfang eigentlich nur Rocko, er hat mich gefragt, ob ich Bock habe, in einer neuen Band zu singen.

Wie hat er dich überzeugt?
Rocko: Ich hab gesagt: Mach mal, das wird geil.
Sam: Ja, so einfach war das. Ich war mir am Anfang nicht so sicher, kannte die Leute ja nicht. Es gab ja am Anfang auch noch einen Nebenbuhler. Aber ich ging dann zu der ersten Probe und das hat den Jungs auch schon gereicht.
Benni: Eine Probe angesungen und dabei. Fertig.
Marc (Gitarre): Die Konkurrenz direkt ausgestochen, ohne dass sie je da war.

Was ist die wichtigste Erfindung der Menschheitsgeschichte?
Marc: Gitarre.
Sam: Waffen.
Benni: Und schnelle Autos.

Bezieht sich euer Bandname eigentlich auf die Tatsache, dass in der Band ein paar Hardcorepunkopas zusammenkommen, deren Augen langsam schwach werden?
Benni: So ungefähr. Aber eigentlich hatte die Idee eine Freundin von uns.
Marc: Blöderweise stand der Bandname schon, bevor Sam dazukam. Sie ist ja die Einzige, die keine Brille trägt.
Sam: Ich habe das Konzept über den Haufen geworfen. Ich bin aber auch sehbehindert. Ich bin übersichtig.

Was bedeutet das denn?
Sam: Das bedeutet, dass ich in den Sehtests auch die ganz kleingedruckten Sachen erkennen kann, bei denen andere Leute mit normaler Sehkraft aufgeben. Ich sehe auf der Autobahn zum Beispiel die Schilder als Erste. Ich kann weiter und schärfer sehen als der Durchschnitt. Mittlerweile kann ich damit nicht mehr so angeben, weil wir ein Navi haben, aber früher war das immer ganz praktisch.

Vielleicht hättest du Scharfschützin werden sollen, gerade bei deiner Affinität zu Waffen.
Sam: Das ist Plan B, falls das hier nicht funktionieren sollte.

what a great weekend! it was absolutely great to play fluff fest, even it was an early start for us on sunday. we were stunned how many people decided to get up this early coming to see us - thankyou very very much. we've met a lot of old and new friends and had a great time and saw a lot of great bands. there was only one big drawback - those assholes stealing stuff from other peoples tents. a lot of people there actually saving money for having just 3 nice days - and we are not talking about people with big bankaccounts (in most cases anyway). even worse, violenting the privacy of other people by stealing stuff while there are sleeping in their tents is quite unbelievable. still - it was great festival, great burgers and a lot of nice people. thanks to ralph, jenny and claude spending the whole weekend with us, helping us with everything. and by the way, hugs to graf orlock and ghostlimb. we played some shows with them the last months, hung out and had a great time. really hope to see all of you soon! we're now doin holidays and are back on the road (and in our practiseroom off course - new stuff is already in work) in september. i'm really lookin forward to our uk-tour in october.

back from trashfest - and it was amazing (even thow one of us suffered a very heavy "jetlag" one moring and this not the TW-dude). we missed seeing raming speed, stuck in traffic, came too late but saw a shitload of great bands. hey, if you are one of those bloody idiots, unaible to use a simple doorhandle in the middle of the night in a room packed with sleeping people, please get in touch with us. anyways thanx to theun and all the folks at trashfest giving us this cool festival.

okay, keine frage - mir reviews angeben is oberpeinlich. beim folgenden muss ich mal eine ausnahme machen. wer's liest wird wissen warum und genauso herzlich lachen wie wir.

und in sachen ( meist ) mittelschnellen, düsteren, ultra-intensiven post-hardcores mit sicherheit das beste , was dieser tage aus deutschland kommt. die produktion ist so dampfwalzig, dass das auch ein herr brannon nicht besser hinbekommen hätte. frontmann sam, von dem übrigens auch das artwork der einseitig bespielten 12" ( auf der b seite gibts etching ) stammt, hat eine bedrohliche, kehlig-rauhe stimme, die verzweiflung und wut ausstrahlt, dass dagegen jeffrey eaton von modern life is war beinahe mädchenhaft klingt. ein mächtig beeindruckendes album, das in meiner gunst derzeit gleichauf mit dem von defeater liegt." ( 9 )

UK-Tour!!!!
dudes and dudettes - were happy to made our first longer trip outside germany to the u.k. in october! we cant wait for it - and we will come together with November 13th from hannover. our friend daniel is helping us with booking the tour - if you are interested drop us a line and we will give you daniels contact since he has the best overview regarding the routing. so if you want to have us idiots - let us know :)
the dates are between oct. 2th and oct. 11th - but we expect the last day in the u.k. will be the 10th.

the ghostrider-shirt is available again - same story with our 12", the 2nd press arrived here two weeks ago.

it just sucks to be back home, sitting at work after having an awesome week on tour! it just sucks! anyway, we had great days on the road, we met lots of old and new friends and had great shows. so thankyou to everyone involved - we really appriciate it! d.i.y.-sucks? no way!!! it is still way better than all this guestlist-hardcore-business idiocy!
