This November, Brad can be seen among the deleted scenes in J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek".  He was interviewed about the role back in September (which ended up on the cutting room floor due to time) on Collider.com (be warned of spoilers below).

http://www.collider.com/entertainment/news/article.asp/aid/9161/tcid/1

Even if you're not a "Trekkie", this is a highly entertaining film.  Check it out on November 17th.

I wanted to share with you all what we're doing and for Roadies, where this campaign is going.  This is something I felt very strongly about, and wanted to help.   For me it's been a two month challenge to be sure to find a way to make this happen.  But I can finally say we're joining ABC in pulling together something I thought would never come to fruition.

Drumsticks will be sent for February 23rd to Stephen McPherson, now President of ABC Entertainment Group (which merges ABC Entertainment and ABC Studios into one unit) and Anne Sweeney, President of the Disney-ABC Television Group, to be donated to schools and music programs along with a note (as before) along the lines of "We want the band back together".  An inquiry has been put into place for the drumsticks we've set in the past to Stephen, Anne, and Mark (now the senior advisor to the Office of the Co-Chairman), whether they were previously donated or not.  If they haven't been, they will be added to what we're sending later this month.

This moves it away from campaigning for "October Road" and focuses on bringing the art form of music to those who don't have the tools or budget they need for musical instruments.

http://abc.go.com/primetime/octoberroad/index?pn=mb&cat=41338&tid=477429

And Roadies, you'll notice we are still writing letters and postcards (separately) to respond to the continous high demand for a return to television.  If you haven't already, don't forget to pre-order a copy of The Complete Second Season.

Update 1/06: The first seven episodes have return to the ABC.com full-episode player.

http://abc.go.com/player/index?pn=index&show=143825&season=143824

Please click on the link above and let's get viewership for LOM's return on Wednesday, January 28th.

Update: I just logged into the Inner Circle, and this will be of particular interest to "Life on Mars" fans.

Join us for a live Executive Session on Thursday, December 18th at 3 pm PT/6 pm ET where we will be joined by Charlie Bowyer, Executive Creative Director of On-Air Promos, Drama and Movies. Charlie oversees all the promos for ABC's hit dramas, including LOST, PRIVATE PRACTICE, and LIFE ON MARS.

This is your opportunity to chat one-on-one with Charlie, and ask him YOUR questions about the ABC marketing campaigns you currently see on TV. He'll provide insight into the day-to-day workings of a network Marketing & Promotion department. And you can ask him what's in store from your favorite ABC dramas!

Join us for the live Session Thursday, December 18th at 3pm PT/6pm ET.

Be sure to save the date, Charlie and the ABC team are looking forward to chatting with you!

I hope many of you will be able to attend and it's free to join. Also, under "Discussions", you'll find a topic for the series.

I've been enjoying Scott Rosenberg, Josh Appelbaum, André Nemec, and Jonathan Murphy's new ABC series "Life on Mars". It takes elements of "Lost" and "October Road" and mixes it in with a '70s cop show and "homage" to the original "Life on Mars".

Let everyone you know to tune into "Life on Mars" by sending these e-cards:

http://abc.go.com/primetime/lifeonmars/index?pn=cards

First, Bryan, congratulations for getting your pilot picked up.  Sorry for the lateness in this as I just found out about it yesterday.  And I also apologize for missing the opportunity in getting my own word out on the fact that both you and Lindy Booth are in "Nobel Son".  Once a DVD release is known however, I'll plug it for all its worth as I haven't seen it myself.

According to The Hollywood Reporter "How to Make It in America" has been given an eight-episode order.  I don't know when production will start yet.  They are right now deciding rather to pick up several other series.  So we need to move quickly on this.

Because of "Life on Mars", this series is back in the spotlight.  It's possible something could be worked out where both series could be shot after production finishes on one (of course it would mean a longer wait for another season of "October Road", but I'm willing to bet most here would be there to subscribe, if you aren't already, to support Bryan's two shows).  This would also mean an increase in viewership for HBO and a great marketing opportunity for them.

Make sure to mention "Beautiful Girls" and Bryan's new series they've just picked up when you e-mail them.

I also received a letter in the mail from one of the show's past sponsors yesterday, so I'll update you when I have more.

Thanks Roadies!

Update: Here's the number to call (copied from their website):

You may contact HBO's Consumer Affairs Department at 212-512-1208 Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM Eastern Time.

Update 12/27: Please send all letters to HBO at the following address:

HBO Consumer Affairs
1100 Avenue of the Americas
New York, NY 10036

Update 12/31: You'll want to also point out when you write and call HBO that Bo Mitchell ("Doodie") has a series coming up on February 15th - "Eastbound & Down".  I looked it up on IMDB, and the premise shares an eerie similarity to "October Road".

You'll notice that "Broken Windows" was recently added to my Friend Space.  Please add the MySpace page for his indie to your own.  Not only will you be supporting him and "Broken Windows" (and the rest of the cast and crew), but it will help draw more attention back to "October Road".  Thanks.

Update: "Broken Windows" will be released to DVD on February 24, 2009.  You can pre-order a copy on Amazon.com now.

Update 12/25: Jonathan's other independent film, "Ready or Not", will be released to DVD one month later, on March 24.  Ironically, there is once again a character named "Chris" - though here, it isn't played by Jonathan but by actor Christian Oliver.

The trailer for "Ready or Not" can be found on the official website:

If you missed Warren in last night's premiere of the channel's latest holiday movie, they'll be re-airing it three more times this month and on New Year's Day.

I only caught the second half, but this is something the whole family will want to check out.

Enjoy the holidays Roadies!  And for those affected by the ice storm here in the Northeast, you're in my thoughts.

Update: Last call for drumsticks to be sent!  There's a small window of time left before Christmas, so if you can find some and mail them within the next couple of days, that would be great.  If you have already done so for the December 15th target date, you're all set.

Got drumsticks?  What to see "the band back together"?  Please send drumsticks to ABC executives Stephen McPherson (President of ABC Primetime and a fellow fan), Anne Sweeney (President of the Disney-ABC Television Group and Stephen's and Mark's boss), and/or Mark Pedowitz (President of ABC Studios which produced "October Road" and who helped along with Mr. McPherson and Mr. Tortorici, President of GroupM Entertainment, to get financing to bring this series on the air) to arrive on the target date of Monday, December 15th.  Send with it a note along the lines of "We want the band back together".

Stephen McPherson, President
ABC Studios
500 South Buena Vista St.
Burbank, CA 91521-4551

Anne Sweeney, President
Disney-ABC Television Group
3800 W. Alameda Ave., Room 504
Burbank, CA 91505-4300

Mark Pedowitz, President
ABC Studios
500 South Buena Vista St.
Burbank, CA 91521-4551

You can check department stores like Wal-Mart, K-Mart, toy stores or try a thrift store for drumsticks.  Also check with friends or someone in the family.

If you're new to this campaign, here's a quick update: for the past two months we have sent tennis rackets to Stephen, Anne, and added Mark to our November target.  Some Roadies also sent drumsticks (if they had already sent tennis rackets or as an addition) and tons of leaves.  So for December, we're focusing on Ikey's favorite instrument of choice: drumsticks.

"Friday Night Lights" fans sent footballs to NBC, "Jericho" fans sent nuts, while "Roswell" fans (life myself) sent bottles of Tabasco sauce to The WB and UPN.  This all resulted in their shows being resurrected (along with heavy letter writing, phone calls, and e-mails, though in "Roswell's" case, twice on two separate networks).  So drop by Wal-Mart or various outlets and pick up those drumsticks, keep advertising, keeping writing (don't forget to put some leaves in the envelopes and if you're also sending postcards, send one of your small town or hometown and find one with an autumn theme), and let's get a third season for "October Road"!

Special thanks to ORsweetsteph for including the name of this campaign with her tennis racket in October.

The NBC/DirecTV deal for "Friday Night Lights" could open doors for other "high-quality but low-rated series" in this Los Angeles Times article dated October 1, 2008.

While I've e-mailed a number of entities that could help us (including DirecTV), now fans are writing to the sponsors again that placed ads for the March 10th two-hour finale.

Verizon (3 ads), Target (2 ads), Citicards (2 ads), Geico (2 ads), Mazda (2 ads), Toyota (2 ads)

The rest here just had one ad: Tide, AT&T, Wendy's, Red Lobster, Clorox, Tresseme, Draft, Carnival Ships, Home Depot, Dove, Gatorade, McDonalds, Windex, Neosporin, Ocean Spray, KIA, Revlon, Quaker, Dominos, Oreos, Red Bull, Ziplock, Abreva, Victoria's Secret, Ford, Claritin, Pedigree

Special thanks go to Octroadfan for reposting the list on the OR ABC.com board.

Ocean Spray is being targeted as the "official" sponsor for a third season.  Please especially write to them and express your love for "October Road".

When contacting Ocean Spray, make sure to select "Company Information" under "Please select the area that best fits your message."

As you might remember, "cranberry" was the pet name both Owen and Alison called each other.  Also, "cranberry" was referenced by Detective Ray Carling in the pilot episode of "Life on Mars" and the company was a sponsor for the following week's episode.

Update: Please sign this petition and let your friends, co-workers, etc. know about it.
