Current mood: hungover
OK... so, I know I've been very lame here in the MySpace universe. Hard to get ahold of, crotchety, etc. BUT this, among many things in my life, will change. So, let's talk about some of the new stuff... I just got back from a month in Europe with the Stolen Sweets -- check the constantly updated blog on the Sweet's site for my stories about our trip. I'm writing a bunch of new material for another solo record that I'll be recording with Ezra Holbrook here in Portland. Most of the material will debut at the string of Monday Night Happy Hours I'll be playing May-June at the Alberta Street Public House. My jazz ensemble, the PK3, will also be releasing an album of original tunes and some standards/gypsy material. I'll post a link when it's available. Aside from that, I hang out with my dog Willy the Shrimp a lot, work on my house and try to practice and play as much as I can. Drop me line if you want -- Pete

Heya, Just a head's up that on Wed. 2/9 Willamette Week here in Portland will be publishing a story about my musical exploits in conjunction with a week long series beginning the following Monday which will be featured in their online music publication whose name eludes me at the moment -- there's a long interview + song clips etc. Hope you enjoy it. Pete

Hey Folks, Instead of my rather lame attempts at writing not-too-funny blogs about food, etc., I thought I'd just give an update on my musical news. I'm primarily playing with the Stolen Sweets these days. The band has a MySpace account under that name which you can check out for photos, news, mp3's. I'm also playing quite a bit with the Pete Krebs Trio, featuring David Langenes on guitar and Keith Brush on string bass. I'll continue to post an UPDATED (I swear) gig list for both bands. The Trio has some regular weekly and monthly gigs that we'd love to see you at. The music is a mix of classic jazz and gypsy swing, with a little Bob Wills thrown in for good measure. We are often joined by special guests like Sam Henry, Farnell Newton and James Mason, and the band gives me an opportunity to do the crooner thing a bit more and makes me feel like Bing Crosby sometimes. The Trio will be cutting an E.P. sometime in the next few months, and I'll post some tracks once we do. In other news, I recently played rhythm guitar on a few tunes from the latest Pearl Django recording, as of yet still untitled. For those unfamiliar with the band, they're the best known U.S. gypsy jazz band around, and have been going strong for many years. It was an honor to lend a hand on the recording. I'll be performing live with them March 7-10 at varoius venues in Bend, Oregon as well as helping out with some of the musical workshops they'll be offering. Their website is at www.pearldjango.com. Thanks to all who send such nice comments to me -- I'm always glad to hear from you. Feel free to contact me here for booking inquiries or if you're interested in guitar lessons. Pete

I have a high metabolism. This usually pans out in a few different way -- gluttony, obsession, dizzyness. I'm one of those people who can eat whatever they want, whenever they want and usually appear untouched. All my clothes from 15 years ago still fit. I have a healthy obssession with certain types of food which I know are unhealthy for me to eat. My devotion to certain types of food is almost canine -- Bar-B-Que, fish and chips, avocados, cheese, BurgerVille. I know, I know. The list is short but supplies an endless amount of fascination to me. I crave this stuff like an alky craves a glass of something strong at 8AM. I keep on trying to do something about it, convinced that my love will result in yet another statistic. I go running. Eat nothing but rice, raw fish and greens for days at a time. But I always come back. It could be worse.
