Thank you so much to all who bought a raffle ticket at my Birthday Party, we raised £75.00 for Maggs Day Centre for the Homeless.

I was thrilled to hand over the money to the centre yesterday, this time of year must be really hard with the prospect of winter coming.  I can't imagine not having a home or a bed to sleep in.

Thanks again,
best wishes,

‘Obsession’ by BECKY ROSE (featuring WEAK13)

Two of the Britain’s rising music stars, singer/songwriter ‘Becky Rose’ and underground rock artist ‘Nick J.Townsend’ (aka ‘WEAK13’), combine their talents to give the world the song ‘OBSESSION’.
>
> The song was written by Becky Rose and a demo was released on to the internet early in 2009. Nick J.Townsend immediately wanted to do a cover as soon as he heard the track and asked Becky Rose for permission to add his interpretation of the song and work side by side with her in a studio.
>
> The song is reminiscent of some of the great rock opera songs such as ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ by QUEEN and ‘Poison’ by ALICE COOPER. ‘OBSESSION’ pays homage to some of the great film soundtracks such as ‘THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW’ and ‘TOMMY’ with a fun professional approach to guitar work, atmospheric piano, haunting melody and passionate storyline vocals.
>
> ‘Obsession’ was recorded in Stourbridge England in one day by live recording engineer and producer ‘Crazy Mule’. All the drums were performed by session drummer Ben Newey and were recorded simultaneously with Becky Rose playing piano. Guitars and Bass were added after and performed by Nick J.Townsend. The powerful seductive operatic vocals of Becky Rose make the song into a musical whilst the background vocals provided by Nick give the song that ‘Beauty and the Beast’ feel. The guitar work is possibly some of Townsend’s most experimental to date with a touch of inspiration from guitarist Davey Johnston (Elton John band).
>
> This teamwork from Becky Rose and Nick J.Townsend has now opened the doors again for musical experimentation.
>
> “Possibly one of the best duets in the last 10 years”
> – Bridge Radio
>
> “BECKY ROSE has so much energy and passion”
> – Ryan’s Gig Guide
>
> “Best pairing I’ve ever heard, it’s like KATE BUSH working with KORN”
> – BasementSound Radio

Today I went to record my track 'Obsession' with Nick J Townsend and his lovely friends Ben (a fantastic drummer) and Crazy Mule (a fantastic engineer).

These guys made me feel so welcome and at home (even though I was 2 hours late for the recording as our car had broken down :() and I had a great time putting my vocals down and listening to what is going to be a great version of my song.  I got loads of excellent tips and an invaluable insight into the recording process, without using any computer software.  Crazy Mule is very passionate about using 'real' instruments and 'real live' sounds which makes the recording unique.

The best thing about the day for me was getting to know these lovely guys who I know will always be great friends of mine.

I can't wait for the finished version of Obsession, it's going to be great!

Thanks so much guys <3

Best wishes,
Becky Rose xxx

I am really happy to say that I've now joined the band 'Mudball'.  These guys are really talented musicans and I feel honoured that they have asked me to join them.  I will be performing with them at some of the gigs they already have lined up and hopefully at other gigs in the near future.

I will carry on with writing/arranging and performing as Becky Rose and adding new songs to my profile but it will be great to perform in an already well established band too.

I hope you can get along to one of Mudball's gigs and see what we're all about :)

For the past couple of weeks I've been getting together with the Band Mudball to sing some backing vocals with them at the Worcester Music Festival, BBC Friday Sessions Introducing Stage at The Marr's Bar, Worcester on Friday 21st August.

The tracks we are performing are Day Glows, The End, My Secret Style, Witches and Scooby to Chew.  The tracks are awesome and I've really enjoyed singing in a band and leaving my keyboard behind for a change.

The guys in the Band, Nick, Richard and Dave are some of the nicest guys I've ever met and I appreciate them asking me to join their band for this special night. They've made me feel welcome, at home and totally relaxed about performing with them.

Friday night is going to be awesome, after performing with Mudball I will be performing 3 of my own songs, Obsession, Noises and The Dress In My Wardrobe.  I have to say I've loved every minute of my time spent with Mudball and I'll miss them when Friday is over. You never know though they may ask me back again sometime if I'm lucky :).

Come along on Friday if you can, there are other great bands performing too (Che, Anna Rice, Sideways Glance, The Humdrum Express, The Capital and Richard Clarke) so it's going be a night to remember.

The World needs to know about Mudball!

Best wishes,
Becky Rose x

Hello to everyone all over the world! I'm Becky Rose, I'm 17 and from Worcester, England, and this is my official Myspace page. Here you can listen to my tracks, download my EP (below), watch my YouTube highlights, see my photographs and then some!

If you're more interested in seeing my performances live, follow the link below:
www.youtube.com/beckyrosemusic

I'm a singer/songwriter, I play the keyboard and I arrange my own songs. Due to being unsigned I rely on myself to create songs that sound as close to studio quality as possible.

I never thought I would be in this business. Always the nerd at high school, I figured I would pursue a career in journalism or teaching. My sister was always considered the one who would work with music in the future. When I was about four, my sister was given a basic keyboard, but she was always more interested in playing one the most beautiful instruments to listen to- the violin. So I took to the keyboard, and from that point onwards I found a hobby that I would stick with to this day.

I hated the idea of keyboard lessons, as I didn't like the idea of being told what to do as opposed to using my own imagination. I began playing little tunes that I heard on the TV in my earlier days. TV theme tunes such as "Dallas", "Neighbours" and "Knots Landing" came into my repertoire around the age of five, solely 'cause my mum would watch those programmes on a regular basis.  Since then I have loved playing my own interpretations of soundtracks such as "Pirates Of The Caribbean". Only in the last year or so have I properly composed my own keyboard pieces.

I didn't really think about singing as a hobby, but I do recall enjoying the sound of my voice at an early age. In assemblies I would try and sing as tunefully and loud as I possibly could (I remember how delighted I was when my primary school teacher gave me a gold star for my enthusiasm during an assembly). I very much enjoyed acting, and still do- I used to love getting lead roles in school plays, and especially enjoyed singing in them.

In my high school days (not that long ago) I focused my attention on academics, particularly English. I decided against taking Music as a GCSE course because I thought of music as a hobby, not a career option. I did however enjoy the attention I received from sneaking into the music room and blitzing a tune on the grand piano (this regular visit led to me being banned from the music department). Instead I looked to Art and Drama as my options, in the hope that if anything I would work in television and film, either as an actress, journalist or set designer. As you can tell, my ambitions for the future were somewhat foggy.

As high school drew to a close, my fresh experience of love and heartbreak became central in my life. In a typically teenaged way, I thought nothing would lift my spirits, I felt "so alone" ("Silly Little Boy") and thought I would be forever "caught up in a vortex of solitude" ("Noises"). Summer '08 ensued and I was at a loss as to what I would be doing next.

Meanwhile, Dad was at a business visit in Tewkesbury, meeting with a fellow worker and friend. Seeing as my dad is a music enthusiast, music was bound to become a conversation starter between him and his friend. The friend brought up that he was in a band, and wanted someone to cover one of their songs in a unique way. Specifically, he was after a female singer/keyboardist around the age of sixteen... perfect.

So over the summer holidays I worked on this song and after a few tries and helpful tips from Dad's friend, the lead singer of the band listened to the cover... and he loved it. It wasn't until afterwards that I realised I was among around thirty other girls trying out for this opportunity. I met with the band members and the lead singer told me I had the package for being a "star" and advised me to start gigging.

The idea of gigging petrified me. Sure I can act, but sing on my own? Sing and play keyboard at the same time on my own in front of people? It seemed impossible!

I hoped the night would never happen. I really hoped September 5th would always be in the future. But it soon arrived. I would be performing at the Spread Eagle in Hereford. I chose two songs: "Samson" (with a keyboard instrumental at the beginning to calm my nerves), and my own song, "Silly Little Boy". To my relief both songs were well-recieved by a very supportive audience... and then they asked for an encore! So I chose to do a song I heard on a Gamecube game called "Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles". I felt a buzz that I'd never felt before. The audience were lovely. One man even asked for a photo and an autograph. I was elated. I knew this would be a night I would be proud of forever... but I also knew that this was only the beginning.

So now I'm nearly 18. My personality and appearance have changed greatly. Before I was an insecure, shy and sensitive tomboy. These days, I am far more confident, self-assured and use my quirky dress-sense to my advantage- I like to be noticed now. I'm more ambitious, and not just about my music. I find myself talking to people who I would have considered way out of my league one year ago. I also find myself trying to sneak into nightclubs (I only succeeded for so long... that is where my noticeable image works against me). I have learnt to appreciate being different in many ways.

A blessing and a curse in my personality has become more evident to me- perfectionism. It makes overcoming nerves more of a struggle- as I hate making mistakes. However, without perfectionism, I don't think my music would be as it is these days.

I have now ventured outside of Worcester. I've gigged in areas further afield such as Hereford, Birmingham, and Manchester, and by the end of Summer '09 I will have performed in London. I've featured in a fair few small festivals. My music has been played on several radio stations, including Tom Robinson's BBC 6 Music Introducing. I've done radio interviews with Youthcomm Radio, Basement Sound Radio and BBC Hereford and Worcester's Friday Sessions.

I've worked with a band, which I enjoyed thoroughly, as it meant I could move around and sing as opposed to sitting behind a keyboard.

I've made many fantastic friends through music, and know so many talented artists. I have them to thank for giving me the encouragement to chase the dream. I also wish I could thank every audience member who listened to my performances and appreciated it. I'm delighted that this site has had so many hits too- it makes me feel reassured that people from all over the world are interested in what I do. Above all, I have my mum and dad to thank. They've been with me on this "musical journey" from the very beginning, taken me to every gig or event necessary, helped me keep on track with everything inside and outside of my musical life, encouraged me to keep going regardless of circumstances, and helped document the experience as much as possible. It really makes me feel lucky.

So hopefully I will have made progress in the next year and the years to come. I would love to think that music will be my career for life. So long as I don't stop dreaming, maybe I'll get the break I've always wanted. If I don't, no one can say that I didn't try.

That Old Routine

.. ..

Ba ba la ba da badam

Ba ba la ba da badam doo,

Bada bada doo doo

Ba ba la ba da badam

Ba la ba la ba da badam doo,

Bada bada doo doo

.. ..

Oh____________....

Oh____________....

.. ..

You’re so unpredictable,

How could you have picked a girl quite like me?

You’re so unreliable,

It’s un justifiable quite frankly.

.. ..

I like you very much but I ain’t no victim

Of the treat them mean keep them keen routine.

.. ..

If I ask you nicely

To describe your personality you won’t lie,

You’d say your,

Arrogant, the best ever, unique, cool but altogether a decent guy.

.. ..

I like you very much but I ain’t no victim

Of the treat them mean keep them keen routine.

.. ..

Go on get it on with

Every girl you meet,

Just don’t expect me to umm

Save your seat,

I ain’t no beaten puppy,

I ain’t no ready meal,

I ain’t no fast food drive thru,

And I ain’t no fifth wheel.

.. ..

You are such a hedonist,

I can’t get in your head and it’s just too much,

But you’re damn attractive,

And I am so reactive with just one touch.

.. ..

I like you very much but I ain’t no victim

Of the treat them mean keep them keen routine,

I like you very much but I ain’t no victim

Of the treat them mean keep them keen routine.

.. ..

Ba ba la ba da badam

Ba ba la ba da badam doo,

Bada bada doo doo

Ba ba la ba da badam

Ba la ba la ba da badam doo,

Bada bada doo doo

.. ..

I like you very much but I ain’t no victim,

I like you very much but I ain’t no victim,

I like you very much but I ain’t no victim

Of the treat them mean keep them keen routine.

.. ..

Go on kill your liver,

If it kills your strife,

Just don’t expect me to umm

Live your life,

I ain’t no simple sweetheart,

I ain’t no midnight snack,

I ain’t no fashion item,

That you can take straight back.

.. ..

I ain’t your lover baby,

Not until you know,

That you can’t treat a woman

Like she’s just for show.

.. ..

I know I like a challenge,

And Hell- I like you too,

And if the feeling’s mutual

There’s just one thing to do.

.. ..

Get over your troubles honey,

Before you trouble me,

Then when you’re feeling better,

Think of me and forget her,

Then we can get together,

You won’t mess with me.

.. ..

Ba ba la ba da badam

Ba ba la ba da badam doo,

Bada bada doo doo

.. ..

I like you very much but I ain’t no victim,

I like you very much but I ain’t no victim,

I like you very much but I ain’t no victim

Of the treat them mean keep them keen routine.

Noises

.. ..

Nobody can tell me I’m wrong,

I feel like I’ve lived here too long,

I am caught up in a vortex of solitude,

But I’m strong.

.. ..

You’re nothing to me you are small,

When you see the light you will fall,

I am in charge of my body you have no say,

No say at all.

.. ..

Oh I’m sick and tired of these voices, noises,

Lack of freedom of choices, noises,

Oh I’m sick and tired of these voices, noises,

Lack of freedom of choices, noises.

.. ..

You think with the change of your tone,

That I will cave in on my own,

I am too savvy to drop at your scheming ways,

Save your breath don’t you moan.

.. ..

I will fight it you will fail,

I’m the winner,

You are nothing you are wilting,

I will glow,

When your number is up,

Don’t expect me to be there give up,

‘Cause you weren’t there when I needed you,

I don’t want you no more.

.. ..

Oh I’m sick and tired of these voices, noises,

Lack of freedom of choices, noises,

Oh I’m sick and tired of these voices, noises,

Lack of freedom of choices, noises,

Oh I’m sick and tired,

Sick and tired.

.. ..

Please stop shouting ,

I can’t sleep,

Please stop screaming ,

I can’t sleep,

Why are you fighting?

I can’t sleep,

Why are you fighting?

.. ..

I can’t cope,

I can’t cope,

I can’t cope,

I have lost hope,

I can’t cope,

I can’t cope,

I can’t breathe,

Stop your shouting please.

.. ..

Oh I’m sick and tired of these voices, noises,

Lack of freedom of choices, noises.

Oh I’m sick and tired of these voices, noises,

Lack of freedom of choices, noises.

Oh I’m sick and tired of these voices, noises,

Lack of freedom of choices, noises.

Oh I’m sick and tired of these voices, noises,

Lack of freedom of choices, noises.

Oh I’m sick and tired,

Sick and tired,

Sick and tired.

Obsession

.. ..

Something takes my breath when you’re around,

Something screams your name when you’re around,

Something lifts me high and I have never felt this way before,

You are something more.

.. ..

Everything around me disappears,

Everything that hurt me disappears,

Everything is right I feel so right and it is down to you,

You are something new.

.. ..

This passion can scold,

I’m caught in the fire,

One look from you fills me with desire.

.. ..

I can’t help that I’m in lust with you,

I’ll take any chance for heated romance,

Obsession.

I should say no but I can’t let go

Of this sensation I feel,

The power’s immense,

The passion’s intense,

Obsession.

.. ..

Maybe someday we could fall in love,

Maybe lust alone is what I love,

Maybe someday you will turn away and I will be alone,

Which I can’t condone.

.. ..

I want nothing more,

Than what I already feel,

How can someone like you be so real?

.. ..

I can’t help that I’m in lust with you,

I’ll take any chance for heated romance,

Obsession.

I should say no but I can’t let go

Of this sensation I feel,

The power’s immense,

The passion’s intense,

Obsession.

.. ..

And I’m doing what I can,

But I’m falling for the man,

And there’s nowhere to turn,

And I can’t take this any longer,

The pain is getting stronger,

And there’s nowhere else to go,

I’m addicted to you.

.. ..

I can’t help that I’m in lust with you,

I’ll take any chance for heated romance,

Obsession.

I should say no but I can’t let go

Of this sensation I feel,

The power’s immense,

The passion’s intense,

Obsession.

I can’t help that I’m in lust with you,

I’ll take any chance for heated romance,

Obsession.

I should say no but I can’t let go

Of this sensation I feel,

The power’s immense,

The passion’s intense,

Obsession.

.. ..

I’m addicted to you.

Lets Get Fun

.. ..

I’m setting my status to single honey,

I’m setting my status to single honey,

But you are to blame for this notion honey,

But you are to blame for this notion honey.

.. ..

Can’t you see I’m not the same as before?

Can’t you tell that I don’t love you anymore?

.. ..

You’re a brother to me not a boyfriend honey,

You’re a brother to me not a boyfriend honey,

You’re insensitive- vain- more so than me honey,

You’re insensitive- vain- more so that me honey.

.. ..

Can’t you see that I’m no good for you?

I don’t like the way you treat me like you do,
And it ain’t rocket science- this ain’t gonna work,

Things could have been better if you weren’t a jerk.

.. ..

I want fun I want fun

I want fun I want fun

We are done we are done

We are done we are done

Lets get fun lets get fun

Lets get fun lets get fun

We are done we are done

We are done.

.. ..

Can’t you see that I am moving on?

What’s the point of staying when the love is gone?

Can’t you see I’m not the same as before?

Can’ you tell that I don’t love you anymore?

Can’t you see that I’m no good for you?

I don’t like the way you treat me like you do,

And it ain’t rocket science- we ain’t gonna work,

Things could have been better if you weren’t a jerk.

The Dress In My Wardrobe

.. ..

Should I call you ask what’s wrong?

I wanna know it’s been so long,

Maybe now you might have changed,

Then again I have my doubts.

.. ..

Should I cry or should I fight

Over such a wasted night?

Maybe now you might return,

I’ve always been an optimist.

.. ..

You stood me up,

You let me down,

I feel like the dress in my wardrobe,

I bought that dress,

Just for you,

But it never left my wardrobe.

.. ..

Am I being paranoid?

You’re a thought I can’t avoid,

Time won’t make me change my mind,

Even though I know it should.

.. ..

Your life revolves around yourself,

This desire destroys my health,

Somehow I see past your flaws,

I’ve always been an optimist.

.. ..

You stood me up,

You let me down,

I feel like the dress in my wardrobe,

I bought that dress,

Just for you,

But it never left my wardrobe.

.. ..

That’s enough!

I’ve gotta be myself,

Be tough,

No more of this desire for you,

I miss you,

I miss you,

I feel like the dress in my wardrobe,

I feel like the dress in my wardrobe,

I feel like the dress in my wardrobe,

I feel like the dress in my wardrobe,

Hung up in the dark like the dress in my wardrobe,

I love you.

.. ..

You stood me up,

You let me down,

I feel like the dress in my wardrobe,

I bought that dress,

Just for you,

But it never leaves my wardrobe.

You stood me up,

You let me down,

I feel like the dress in my wardrobe,

I bought that dress,

Just for you,

But it never leaves my wardrobe.

.. ..

I love you.

Motorway

.. ..

Motorway, motorway,

Light light light burning bright orange light on the motorway,

Motorway, motorway,

Light light light burning bright orange light on the motorway,

While we glide in the night,

Caravans crawl through the crisp air of fall that we breathe away,

On the motorway.

.. ..

Motorway, motorway,

One two three maybe four cars or more on the motorway,

Motorway, motorway,

One two three maybe four cars or more on the motorway,

While we glide in the night,

Caravans crawl through the crisp air of fall that we breathe away,

On the motorway.

.. ..

Over the horizon grows a glow that burns my eyes and it has shook the floor,

Metal insects take the plot of road and then next thing you know,

There’re hundreds more,

Soon the colours of the sunlight fill the landscape to which we are drawn,

Here comes the dawn.

.. ..

Motorway, motorway,

Clouds roll by in the sky as we fly on the motorway,

Motorway, motorway,

Clouds roll by in the sky as we fly on the motorway,

While we glide in the night,

Full of grace as we race,

While we glide in the night,

Caravans crawl through the crisp air of fall that we breath away,

On the motorway.
