Current mood: savage
EE gang is recruiting horn players. You will be jumped in!
This gang will be your new family and as such you will be expected to practice regularly and drop (seemingly) more important things (like work, school, your grandma's funeral...) to play shows, practice, and hang out.
We are NOT looking for someone to punch in and practice and/or play shows then punch out! Gang members will be expected to attend evil empire sponsored dances, socials, sock hops, parties, halo tournaments, skate sessions, and bare knuckle boxing events.
If you are interested please send us your contact info, instrument, how long you've been playing, any recordings or things to note, location, availability, bra size....ect
-Dave

As some of you have noticed at shows we have had a variable number of people playing with us. If you can remember back in October of 2005 Ben (our lead singer) decided that it was time for him to leave to Washington and join Americorps. He has been working at a school putting together after school programs etc...
...and besides for a couple visits back we've been writing new songs and playing shows without him. We've had some great shows with the help from the crowd singing. Also Crackhead (from Agents of Change) has been singing with us and I've been singing some songs too.
...so the new songs we've posted reflects where we're at right now. We have about a dozen new songs that we haven't recorded yet and aren't completely finished. Some have lyrics written by Ben and some are instrumental. Evil Empire is not just a band - we're all friends and we all love to make music. We are going to continue to do so. I hope you all keep listening. I'll post some of the demos soon.
...and please let us know what you think.

If you recall we played a bunch of shows this past summer. We'd like to thank everyone how helped us out with shows and places to stay.
Click on the venue to see pictures
7/22/06 - Woodstock, IL @ The White House (MIA: Ben) Ben wasn't back from Washington yet so we played the show without him. It turned out pretty good me (Johnny) and Brandon we planning on singing the songs but we didn't need to, for almost every song someone jumped on the mic and helped out. Thanks to: Trike, Alleyway Sex and everyone else at The White House that night who helped sing our songs.
8/06/06 - Lemont, IL @ Stage 83 (MIA: Katie)
8/10/06 - Cleveland, OH @ The Church (MIA: Mikey and Katie) Our first out of state show ever. It was with The Mad Conductor. We played 2nd (and sounded pretty bad after driving all day). It was fun. Thanks to: Manda who set up the show and helped us out with gas money.
8/11/06 - Roseville, MI @ The My Space Internet Cafe (MIA: Mikey and Katie) This show was a disaster and it was fun as hell. We opened for Chinese Happy and 4 hardcore bands. They hated us - in the middle of our 3rd song the PA was turned off. We then went on to play one more song with Ben in the crowd singing to people. We were then threatened with violence and forced to leave the building. Thanks to: Chinese Happy for giving us a place to stay 2 nights in a row.
8/13/06 - Lemont, IL @ Stage 83 (Full Band) It was a show with a lot of bands and no fans.
8/13/06 - Chicago, IL @ The Waiting Room (Full Band) After the show in Lemont we drove right to this show. We actually opened the show but it was not a big deal. It was a lot of fun - we played with: Trike, '72 Dolphins, NSP and The Mad Conductor. Thanks to: Chicago Punk Shows Collective for running an all ages venue.
8/14/06 - Inverness, IL @ Alison's Basement (MIA: Curtis and Katie) Another show with The Mad Conductor - it turned out to be fun. Mikey ended up playing on the celling and making a few holes. Thanks to: Alison's Parents and everyone who came to the show.
8/18/06 St. Cloud, MN @ The Playaz Lounge (tour w/ Trike) (MIA: Curtis, Katie and Mikey) Thanks to: The Playaz Lounge, Dan-O and his mom for feeding us and letting all 9 of us sleep at your house, Bill Cosby Murder Project, and the other bands that played
8/19/06 Hartford, WI @ The Underground Saloon (tour w/ Trike) (MIA: Curtis, Katie and Mikey) This place was a little bar - we were all worried it wasn't going to go very well but it turned out to be really fun. sorry for it being 21+ Thanks to: Living Dred for the good time and letting us crash at your place.
8/20/06 Manitowoc, WI @ Kenny B's (tour w/ Trike) (MIA: Curtis, Katie and Mikey) Another bar, this time it was all ages. There was a crack house next door and some really funny arguments happened. Ben walked around town to mail a postcard and was interrogated by the police because he was taking pictures of the dam. He was apparently a threat to Homeland Security. Thanks to: Living Dred again for getting us these two shows.
8/25/06 Champaign, IL @ Greg and Amanda's Basement (MIA: Katie) The McKinley didn't work out but the show was even better because it was a house show - we all had a really good time. Thanks to: Chinese Happy for coming, Alleyway Sex, Greg and Amanda for letting us play your basement, and everyone there for making it the best show of the tour.

Due to our responsibility to our fans as well as The Mad Conductor fans (some of which are the same people, whom I dont want to feel that they have to choose sides.) I feel as though some clarification is needed in the situation regarding EE and The Mad Conductor. I feel that Chris (The Mad Conductor) misinterpreted the attitude of the band as ignorant and disrespectful. None of which we are. Our antics are for entertainment purposes and do not always represent the thoughts or feelings of the band.
1). The Microphone in Cleveland.
During our show in Cleveland a microphone (or mic chord) was left broken after our set. This mic was in no way in perfect working condition when we received it we played the first and second songs while the mic continually cut in and out. Ben (Vox) does perform and while doing so spins the mic on the chord something which hes performed many times with no mic failure. After asking for assistance regarding the broken mic Ben spoke with the owner and explained how he didnt know how it was broken due to the fact of its previous working condition and the treatment to the mic wasnt something which should have resulted in failure. A situation I feel we shouldnt have to defend, its a live show and equipment will get broken eventually. However I dont feel its fair to say that the microphones failure was all due to Bens actions hence Ben saying he wasnt sure how it was broken
2). Show Canceled In Detroit
Each band who played the show in Cleveland received $50 (A deserving 50). We took the money with great appreciation and moved on to our next show in Detroit. Chris (The Mad Conductor) felt, having no place to stay, they needed an extra $50 to pay for a hotel something which the venue couldnt give. The following day we were notified that due to money restraints Chris (The Mad Conductor) could not allow us to play the first show we had in Detroit. I understand the situation and we greatly appreciate his honesty in the situation considering he could have easily invented a fictional scenario that resulted in us not being able to play. He also felt that since we had two shows in Detroit we could have made the money back. The bulletin on myspace was posted prior to our speaking and we felt it necessary to tell people why we couldnt play. This was premature and I apologize for that. This in my opinion is a non issue. I spoke with Chris in IL and explained how the band felt and how I felt that it was lame and he explained himself. Beef squashed.
3). Holes In Alisons Ceiling.
Evil Empire prides its self on its live show and our ability to entertain. Sometimes in that process things get broken or damaged. Our percussion player (Mikey) often plays percussion on what is around him. During our set in Inverness IL our percussion player used Alisons Ceiling as percussion and ended up put a few knocks in her ceiling something which no one planned. Unfortunately its the risk taken while having bands play in your home. I apologize if something was broken beyond repair. We do appreciate being given a place to play and do take responsibility for our actions. If the damage is severe enough to require repair I will pay for the damages. At the time I felt they werent significant and wasnt approached by anyone in regards to it.
While on the road a lot of mishaps, canceled shows, and broken equipment happen and is expected. Under normal circumstances I wouldnt feel its necessary to explain our selves or the situations, but it seems some people via myspace feel that this is some sort of beef to have sides chosen and fights carried out. The Mad Conductor and Evil Empire have settled our disagreements. I do not want this to be more than it is because of our amazing invention the internet. Evil Empire and The Mad Conductor will play shows in the future. Lets move on and keep making music
Peace, Love, Empathy,
-Dave EE Clan
