Well kids...here we are Live! The videos span over a couple years, and
the quality varies (performance and sound alike... ;)) but they're fun to watch none-the-less! You should come out and see us...it's much better in person, I swear!

(I've been wanting to post these for a while but only now
figured out how to do it.)

Thanks to Brandon Zwagster and Chris Bathgate
for these tasty little morsels:

"Gathering" at The Fire in Philly:

"Summer. Lull." at Dominies Hoek in NYC:

..

"Surprise" at The Creek and the Cave in NYC:

..

And the completely old school MPLS II (including coffee grinder) at Crazy Wisdom...(I think I was 12...a little tipsy...and a couple got engaged during this song):

..

Thanks for listening...see you soon!!!

Current mood:Freakin’ Grateful.
Hello.

After such a wonderful couple months of shows
i think it's necessary to send out some gratitude
to the people who make all of it possible.

Firstly: Thanks to Brandon Z. for the amazing
couple of shows we played in NYC (check out the
photos!)in early December. I cannot say enough
about how much this guy does for us...and on top
of it all he's the best cheerleader of Michigan music there is.

Secondly: Also, thank you to Brandon and 826 Michigan and
the Corner Brewery for another amazing festival. We
were lucky enough to get our picture in the Ann Arbor
News for this one! Mittenfest was even more wonderful to
play this year than last, and all for a great cause. I was
honored to be a part of it.

Thirdly: Thanks to everyone who made it out
(and there were a LOT of you) to our first show at
The Ark. Thanks to Chad Williams for putting up
those damn flyers, and for taking some pictures! Thanks
to Laure Lee for her beautiful photos as well! It
was a complete success pulling in almost 200 folks!
I want to thank Orpheum Bell yet again for inviting me
to share the stage with them. It meant a lot to me to be
on that stage where I've seen many of my heroes play.

Um...Fourthly?: We also just played an amazingly fun show
at The Elbow Room in Ypsi last saturday. Thanks to
all who came out to this one, too. What a blast! Andy
and his endless bottles of whiskey... and his Easter
Bunny costume...Delta 88 reunited with Matt jones for
the night and rocked the house...and Chris Bathgate's
set was fantastic as usual.
So fun I'm lucky I survived it, really.

We were also featured this month on the MichiganFolkLive
podcast. Not a whole lot of info about us there, but MPLS II
was the featured song by me. Pretty cool.

So...now it's back into the studio to finish the record.
We're pretty much in mixing mode now.
The Christmas deadline fell by the wayside due to illness,
the NYC/Philly tour, and the holidays themselves. But we're
getting back on track now. I'm shooting for an April release party.
Keep your eyes and ears open. I'll try to update more
frequently.

Thanks again to everyone for your support.
And thanks to my band for being so fucking
fun to play with!

Until next time...

A poem by R. Brautigan...

Fuck Me Like Fried Potatoes

Fuck me like fried potatoes
on the most beautifully hungry morning
of my god-damn life.

Now that's poetry. Although the one he wrote about the 2 guys getting out of the car is a close second...and the big dipper poem is right up there too...

Ohhhh.

Houghton saved my life in many small ways this past weekend. I'm going to try to keep this as short as possible though...so here it is in outline-ish form...in no particular order...at all.

I. I am not the easiest person to deal with. I am (sometimes) a control freak/semi-scared of new things/cynical and suspicious asshole. Knowing this my closest friends still allowed me to travel along with them in a mini van from south to northern most point (almost) in MI for 4-ish days sharing food, beds, thoughts, beers, and whatever else. This in and of itself amazes me...but there is more.

II. We leave thurs. night at 11pm and get to elk rapids 4am...Carols Cabin on grand traverse bay...wtf? I wake up, roll over and see this...

This is when my doubts about going north at the end of february start to fade...
Here's the morning crew:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting matt took these pics

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingMaria loves folgers and a great book inthe morning...

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingWake up Carol!!

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingI feel a lot better than I look...

Carol took us to an amazing breakfast place...and then...

III. Drive across the bridge and across the UP and it takes a bit longer than we expected...it was our first time going so far...Then we get to Houghton and catch the last act of the first night of Keewanawesomefest. And catch up with Kevin and Brandon...

IV. SO many freakin' snow mobiles...many sculptures...great after party...live music there too...then sleep at the Grizzly house with Grizz, Pat and Andy...Very nice folks...SO NICE! A sleeping bag, a cot, coffee as soon as my eyes opened and pancakes to boot. We let Andy eat the ones with nuts...don't ask.

V. FREE PASTIES (thanks Meg!!) Kevin thought of everything. Even got us a hotel for the second night...practiced a bit somewhere in there...argued with matt...napped...had a beer...then...

VI. Great bands all across the board! Played the most amazing show I have ever had the honor of being a part of. I'll never forget the most respectful audience I have ever witnessed at any show...whether I was playing or not. Packed room. AMAZING sound. I mean fucking amazing! I can't say enough here...but in the name of "outline form" I'll stop now.

VII. Then there was Perkins cardboard food factory afterwards...I skipped the party this night...i was soooo exhausted! I hear there were men doing shots off of eachothers stomachs....too bad i missed it...up the next day for breakfast with friends...then headed toward home.

VIII. Then this...

These are pre-blizzard conditions.  Once it was dark the real-blizzard conditions hit us. We had to stop in manistique because, well, driving was impossible... But it turned out great...we ate pizza...watched the Oscars...drank labatt...and laughed our asses off...

My roman numeral knowledge is failing me and I'm tired. Here's the rest:
Then south in the morning. Ate in St. Ignace. Best pie ever. i cannot stop thinking about this trip and how amazing every person I met was and how incredibly greatful I am to have the friends/bandmates i have that make experiences like this possible. Matt O. took care of my sick cat Merlin which I am also terribly greatful for...

Maria took amazing photos as usual.
Kevin is the most organized intelligent respectful festival organizer/possibly human being ever.
Brandon makes every event more fun with his enthusiasm for people, places, and music...so good to see him!

So much more to say...too much. I'll leave it at this...

Thank you Houghton.

Current mood:de-vocalized

Every morning at 9am my cell phone sends me a "quote of the day".

I hated it at first, immediatley thinking..."I better not be paying for this".  But now a year later I find myself looking forward to these little tidbits.  Funny how some seemigly simple or cliche words can change your view of the day ahead or behind....

I saved some of my favorites...

"Silence is not always tact and it is tact that is golden, not silence."

"We must be willing to get rid of the life we've planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us."

"We choose our joys and sorrows long before we expierence them."

"There is danger in reckless change, but greater danger in blind conservatism."

"Punctuality is the virtue of the bored."

"Self-pity is our worst enemy and if we yeild to it, we can never do anything good in the world."

"Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life."

"All things pass...Patience attains all it strives for."

"The most wasted of all days is one without laughter."

"The best index to a persons character is how he treats people who can't do him any good."

"The most valuable of all talents is that of never using two words when one will do."

"The cure for anything is salt water - sweat, tears, or the sea."

"Who is rich?  He who rejoices in his portion."

"Everything that has a beginning has an ending.  Make your peace with that and all will be well."

"The greatest spirits are capable of the greatest vices as well as the greatest virtues."

"Never argue with a fool.  Listeners can't tell which is which."

"Don't be humble.  You're not that great."

"In summer, the song sings itself."
