Hello there!
We've been busy in the Maple Leaves camp of late, recording at Chem 19 and the like, and next week will see us play not one but two gigs so we're very excited!
Please do come and see us at The Captain's Rest on Great Western Road this Friday 23rd October, for the Silence Breaks Your Heart night, as we're playing with the wonderful Withered Hand and Tenebrous Liar. Should be a really nice night with a great lineup, so do come and say hello!
We're also playing as part of the Oxjam Festival at the V Club on Sauchiehall St in Glasgow on Saturday 24th October. All proceeds of tickets of course to a great cause, so will be brilliant to see you there too!!
cheers,
Anna, Maple Leaves x
P.P.S: we've a facebook group and a twitter page (@mapleleavesband) if you would like to join us....i'm still figuring out the mysteries of tweeting so if anyone fancies joining and tweeting that would be ace too!x

August 6, 2009 - Thursday
 |
Hi all,
So we had our first band meeting yesterday, with some good food and tea, and there are a few exciting developments on the horizon...
Firstly we'll be going to the legendary Chem 19 studios for a couple of days of recording in September...hopefully an E.P. will emerge from this. I've also set a drum kit up in my house so we're planning on doing that "home recording" thing as well. All of which means there should be some new songs up soon. Glee!
Secondly we'll be playing The Mill at Oran Mor next Thursday 13th, which should be great - best of all it's free! We're even going to the trouble of learning some new songs, and mixing the set up a bit, so if you wanna see what we've been working on recently, get yerselves down. Playing with the brilliant Panda Su so yeh, no excuse. Text MILL57R to 82500 for tickets.
We're also playing King Tut's (woo!) on August 28th with Run Toto Run and others, getting a video shot for Easy Speak, doing a "songwriting retreat" at some point, etc etc etc...(repeat to fade)...
And here I am, sitting in the sun, listening to Talking Heads "Remain In Light" which is such a fantastic album it makes me want to start an ambient afro funk project all of my own.
Hope you're all well!
J

Woohoo!
We've just come back from playing T in the Park and we had a blast! To all those who came along and/or wished us well, many many thanks, you are very lovely indeed, and we really appreciate all the support on friday!
We even had a few 'canadi-fans' in to see us embracing the spirit of fancy dress friday, decked out in the maple leaf flag and full hockey gear, which was very exciting.
Just before the gig we recorded a wee acoustic number for Vic Galloway for BBC Three, which was featured on the T Break feature. You can catch this on iPlayer for the next few days or so...we're around 30 minutes in!

We'll also be putting up some photos soon too...so do check them out :-)
cheers,
anna, ML x

Hey friends,
We're excited, amazed and delighted to reveal we've been selected to play the T-Break stage at T in the Park! We found out last week and are still in considerable shock. The 15 bands playing alongside us are all stellar (Brother Louis, Punch and the Apostles, Mike Nesbit to name but three), and we feel more than a bit nervous, seeing as it'll be our 5th ever gig! If any of you are heading to T, come down and cheer us on - we'll probably be on at the same time as Beyonce or something.*
Thanks to all those who came to a hot and heavy Stereo last night, and listened and clapped (and occasionally whooped)...we had a blast! My Latest Novel were astonishing, go get their new record as it's really rather special. There's photos of us in the photos bit, thanks to Anneliese and Matt for being on the ball.
We've got more songs than we know what to do with at the moment. Some proper recordings aren't too far away...
best!
J
*pretty sure Beyonce won't be playing
