Look, we've been seeing each other for a while and it's time that we just came out and said those little words that mean everything: Come To Our Show.

You're so beautiful.  We can hardly contain ourselves.  We long to hear you say yes (that is: yes you will yes you say yes).  It's quite a commitment, but we think that we're ready to make that plunge with you.  We long for the day (this Saturday, in fact, Sept 9) when we will gaze into your eyes (all of your eyes, because that's how strong our feelings are) and tell you all those things that you want to hear (and to a backbeat, no less!).

Follow That Bird, who rock more than Sleater-Kinney and LiLiPut/Kleenex and other lady punk guitar-goddesses who turn Greil Marcus into semi-literate drool, will go first.

Parks and Wildlife, proudly licensed by the U.N.'s Germanic Rock Forum to have two keyboardists in the band, will continue the night.

Finally, The Dialtones, led by the incomparable and amazing Lauren Gurgiolo, will lead you home.

It's real.  And it's all for you.  We anxiously await your response.

Just a quick word of thanks to folks who came out last night.  Despite the fact that it was slightly hotter than the heart of the sun up there, we managed to slop our way through a somewhat spacier set than usual, with a medley of Love's "Live and Let Live" into Pink Floyd's "Interstellar Overdrive" as the centerpiece.  Both of these songs, incidentally, have been on our radar since before Syd Barrett and Arthur Lee's recent deaths, and we'd decided to do this medley almost a month ago.  All of which means that we have the power to kill with our covers.  Next cover: John Ashcroft's "Let The Eagle Soar".  Anyone know if Dick Cheney's ever written a song?

Anyway, Follow That Bird and The Distant Seconds burnt down the house.  In other news, Follow That Bird is going to be playing with us at our Sept. 9 show at the Carousel.  They've got a killer Sleater-Kinney/LiLiPut thing going on, so definitely check them out.

A: By "Thursday," you mean this Thursday, April 27, 2006.  Parks & Wildlife are playing with The Distant Seconds and Sally Crewe, no less.

Q: Wow!  Where is this fabulous Carousel Lounge?  And what time does the music start?

A: The fabulous Carousel Lounge is located at 1110 52nd Street in Austin.  Parks & Wildlife are playing around 9, Sally Crewe & The Sudden Moves around 10, and the Distant Seconds around 11.

Q: You seem to be prevaricating about the estimated time of rockage.

A: Was that a question?

Q: Actually, it was a statement intended to provoke a response.  A conversational gambit, if you will.  But now the tables are turned!  You are the questioner while I am the answerer!  Ha!

A: Our official response to that is "Whatev, dude."

Q: I'd like to switch letters.  Seriously.  It sucks being a "Q."  People stare in the supermarket.

A: Ummmmmmmmmm, wellllllll... Hm.  No.

Q: You still didn't clarify about the start times on Thursday.

A: I have already answered the question.  We will not comment about an investigation that is ongoing.  We'll be happy to explain about the start times when the investigation is over, and we promise that anyone found tampering with these start times will lose their job.  However, in no way should this be interpreted to mean that we are actually promising that anyone actually found tampering with the actual start times will lose his or her actual job.  Next question, please.  I think Sumil had one.

Q: Why did these guys hire you to promote their show, anyway?

A: This press conference is over.

Q: Fuck you, McClellan.

Hey Kids,

Parks and Wildlife plays this Thursday, March 9th, at Trophy's (aka
... the reverberatorium) across from the 7-11 on South Congress ...
load up on ear plugs and come on down. We should play first at 9pm.  The other bands are The Distant Seconds, The Guise, and Basic.

This is our second official gig, but there'll be some new songs and a
new instrumentalist on synth sounds (for a net total of two musicians)
for increased m-value.

We at Parks & Wildlife have made many promises to you, our myspace friends, over the years.*

First and foremost, we re-affirm** our undying pledge to never, ever, under any circumstances, shoot you in the face with birdshot. We remember and revere the words of the beloved mascot of the Rifle and Gun Fightin' and Fun Council (RGFFC), Gary The Gun Safety Groupie: "Don't mess with Texas or the Vice President will shoot you in the face! He liked this guy! Imagine what he'll do to you, pinko!"***

You can test our good faith in person, this Thursday, 2/16, at the Carousel in Austin, starting at roughly 9 pm.

Also refraining from shooting you in the face will be The Distant Seconds and The Casting Couch.****

Thank you, and may God continue to bless America,

The Parks and Wildlife Management Team Task Force Sub-Committee on Pledging Not To Shoot Anyone In The Face

* This statement is not, in fact, true. We have only been a band for a few months, and this is the first time we have used this bulletin function on Myspace.

** By which we mean "affirm for the first time with hopes that you'll think we did so previously" or, at the very least, "provide plausible deniability for any future situation in which we may do otherwise than promised."

*** This is from memory. Actual quote may have had something to do with "scales of justice" or some such nonsense.

**** No promises are made herein about the shady guy who will be hanging out at the back of the bar, though, so watch out for him.
