Write for ROK ICT!
Bloggers, Journalists and Opinionated People:

Join us in capturing and conveying information about the local arts community in a way that's fresh, creative and exciting. We're seeking individuals interested in writing blogs/reports/editorials on the following local topics:
- Visual Art
- High Art Music ("Classical" music, ballet, opera, musicals etc.)
- Music (Bands/Shows/Solo Artists in contemporary music etc.)
- Film (Popular and independent film, documentaries etc.)
- Drama & Literature (Plays, Melodramas, Literature & Poetry etc.)

Requirements:
- proper spelling & grammar (or handy with the spellcheck ;-) )
- the ability to compose, founded and creative 200-1000 word blogs, reports and/or editorials/reviews
- the ability to use basic internet technology such as e-mail and blogging platforms
- the availability attend at least 1 writer's meeting per month
- the availability to attend at least 3 local arts events per month
- high school diploma or higher (interested high school students please inquire for details)

It's a plus if...
...you have previous journalistic and/or blogging experience.
...you have experience writing in the above topics.
...you are a teacher or professor of one of the above topics.
...you hold a degree in journalism, communications, PR or one that relates to the above topics.
...you currently hold free lance/staff positions at other local media institutions.

ROK ICT! is searching for musicians of all backgrounds and genres to perform in First Friday. We are always taking submissions for each month.

How it benefits the musician:
- paid
- large scale promotion
- large and diverse audience draw

Requirements:
- able to perform publicly
- available, to perform at a venue in Wichita, the First Friday of the month, 6p-9p (performance minimum 1.5 hours)

New Musicians Will Be Selected Monthly, Based On:
- quality of content
- originality (tributes welcome)

What is First Friday?

First Friday is a monthly music crawl featuring local Kansas, and regional artists, performing at venues in and around downtown. This monthly event is held in an effort to draw locals and visitors into the heart of the Wichita metropolitan area in an experience that exposes local talent, and increases the awareness of arts culture.

The Kansas Arts Commission today
announces that it will receive $301, 700 in funds from the American
Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) through the National
Endowment for the Arts. Most of these funds will be redistributed to
arts and cultural organizations throughout Kansas to preserve jobs in
the arts, with a small percentage retained by the KAC to implement the
program.
Guidelines for the Grants for Kansas Arts Jobs will be available on
the KAC website beginning April 21, 2009. Applications will be accepted
starting July 1, 2009.
