We know you have. We did recently. On a certain Miss California. But that's not the topic of this post. The topic of this post is one of our personal New York house classics, Junior Vasquez's Drop A House. We say Junior Vasquez's knowing fully well that the soaring vocals belong to ...read more on the blog...

Those of you who are regular readers of exModia already know that although we are a house music blog, we are highly political. We have to be. Being Gay necessitates political action. Fighting the forces of right-wing political oppression doubles that necessity. We do try to keep it under control so as not to lose focus on our blog. But you will agree with us that the events that have unfolded in our country since September of last year have no precedent in our history.

This post is a personal message to all of you and an homage, not only to our new president, but to all of us. You see, our generation has finally taken the reigns of power. It was our generation that went to the polls and ushered in a new chapter in the life of our country.

We heard two things today that reminded us of just how much we have achieved and just how much we have to do. One person commented that we have finally overcome, hearkening back to the famous civil rights protest song. We do not believe that we are quite there yet. We have much to do before we can say that our nation is close to reaching the ideals of individual justice and opportunity for all.

Another person reminded us that President Obama is preparing the country for its certain future. He pointed out that every day in the United States, for every individual that dies eight Hispanic babies are born. The future of the United States is one where Hispanics, Asians, Southeast Asians, African-Americans and Middle Easterners will predominate numerically. They will determine the nature of our culture and the color of our politicians. Our generation is the first vanguard in that new reality. We had to make a choice and we are enormously proud that, as Ray Charles used to say, we got the right one, baby.

At this juncture in our history, there is no better man to lead us into that new reality than Barack Obama. And at this juncture in our history there is no better generation to choose that leader than ours. Our generation is the first to be largely free of the mental shackles of hatred and racism and free from the withering grip of prejudice and privilege.

In large part, music has led the way. It has been the language of our common emancipation. It is through this common musical language that we have built common bridges and are crafting a common culture. This is a language that is not just for the the United States. It is a gift that we willingly and freely have given and continue to give to you, our brothers and sisters all over the world, in the hope that together we will hold hands in brotherhood and create a better world for us all. So, we give you another small gift from that language of music and brotherhood: one of exModia's official participating deejays, DJ Lollipop's Official 2009 Inaugural Ball Mix.

We love you all and today we love our country deeply.
