It is coming up on the holidays here in the states and of course the TV is being bombarded by Christmas/Holiday commercials. I started my shopping last month and I am trying to be frugal..which is hard for me. I want to buy everyone a gift and spend a lot of money. But with the way the economy is going right now, I need to save my money for art supplies!!! I am telling everyone to get me gift certificates to craft/art stores, so I will keep up with all the new and fancy art stuff that is coming out. There is so much out there I get soooo overwhelmed.

Another good holiday idea is I buy myself workshops to attend. I tell my family that I have a couple of online workshops I have been eyeing and they can purchase that for me too!!! Also the new Arrowmont catalog came out last week and it was cool seeing my class listed there with all of the other wonderful artists! I wish I had the money to just travel and take workshops at all of these wonderful art schools.

Fiber Collage Workshop Jan 10th and 17th

For anyone that lives close to me and would like to take a Fiber Collage/Art quilt class, I will be having one in January. The cost is 120.00 and it runs 10-4 on the 10th and 17th of January. This is basically a beginner class on how to construct an art quilt and no sewing experience is needed. Also, all the sewing is done by hand, so you won't need a sewing machine.

I have been addicted to Facebook lately and have met up with a lot of old friends and met some new ones too.It is cool to hook up with other fiber artists and seeing what they are doing. I think it is an excellent networking too!

September News!!

I hope everyone is safe this week. Especially our friends in the Texas area where hurricane Ike hit. Wow....I just can't fathom losing everything in one swoop. Please send out prayers and good vibes to those who are going through tough times right now. They might not be affected by Ike, but the financial sector here in the US is taking a banging too! Maybe it is good to be a "starving artist" and not a multi millionaire right now. I just can't afford any gas to go anywhere....thank goodness for Ebay and the Internet!!! Which brings me to online classes!!!!!

I have taken on a new project and have started a free tip website called Creative Inspirations. I have always been interested in all books that talk about Creativity and Creative Coaches like Eric Masiel. If you have a creative tip you would like to share with my readers please email me at sorrell@creativechick.com. You will get full credit, so include your first name and where you live.

The whole purpose for this site is to help others when they have been boxed in and don't know how to start a project and need that creative spark. I know I have need prompts in helping me in my artwork and I am always getting asked "how did you do that?" or "where did you get the idea for that piece?". This is my solution is to creative a place to post creative ideas and hopefully get readers to participate too. ..
