For those who don’t know Resident Evil 5 is the latest in the classic video game franchise that started in 1995 and has many of classic video games and movies every since. The story of the latest game features a return of character Chris Redfield (a white guy) and partnered up with Shiva (a very fair skinned british sounding black woman) in Africa killing hundreds of crazed zombie like Africans (black people). Before reading this be familiar with the game, just google it and you will see images from it….I’ll give you time……. Heres one So because of images like this the question arouse is the game racist??? Here is my answer: NO...but.... THIS GAME IS VERY RACIALLY AND CULTURALLY INSENSITIVE. I understand that most Americans (and non Americans) are trying to move on from the whole racially divisive issues we have in this country. That’s great!!! But unless you acknowledge the past you can’t really move on to the future. As I am sure most of you know during slavery, one of the ways that whites justified their demonic behavior was to characterize blacks as crazed, violent, unsophisticated, animal like creatures that NEEDED to be tamed by the more sophisticated, intelligent, less violet western world. This was a way they tried to legitimize whites being able to enslave, torture, and dehumanize blacks, because according to the sentiment at the time "they were doing blacks a favor". This sentiment was seen in most of the media at the time; books, pictures, cartoons, news papers, etc, portrayed blacks as scary animalistic creatures that were to be feared. They showed blacks as a very savage and animal like people often saying we weren’t much different than wild animals, namely monkeys. Now this is significant in RE5 because some of the images in this game depict blacks in the same light, as violet savages. Yes I know they are zombies being controlled by some unworldly creatures, but the images are still very similar to these.... And I know that the Japenese designers behind this game aren’t trying to send the same messages as the white supremacist propaganda machine of the past (and the underground present), but the images are too similar to ignore. When you see herds of mindless violet, tribal blacks trying to kill a white man, it is an image oh too similar of what was portrayed in the past, and not acknowledging this is racially and culturally insensitive. Defenders of the game like to mention RE4s European setting (with Spanish whites playing the infected trying to kill the main character a white man and white woman), or Far Cry 2’s African setting as reputing RE5 racial issues, its not the same. Its apples and oranges, you can’t compare because of the history. Americans don’t have this same history with Europeans (specially Spanish). And the Africans in Far Cry 2 weren’t animalistic; they were just bad guys who were black. Basically I am saying is RE5 is not racist. The designer’s aren’t trying to say that whites are better than blacks. And I think everyone gets that. But unless you have been raised to understand the issues of African American history in this country, unless you have had these images burned in your head since childhood, unless you have studied the history of slavery in this country it may be hard for you to understand why this is such a big issue, but it is, because the images from this game are just too similar to ones used in the past to justify slavery. Fact is this game was designed by a people who are unfamiliar with the intricacies of our culture (Japanese), they don’t know the intricacies of our history (to be honest its clear a lot of Americans don’t either by what I read on the message boards reguarding this issue), and we as American gamers shouldn’t just dismiss the issues because the game rocks. We should say “Hey Capcom you made an awesome game, with a great story and we appreciate that, we want to play it, we want you to continue to deliver this quality, but we need you to be more enamored with our culture when you make games that are aimed at a western audience as to not offend; no matter how unintentional it maybe”; because in the end that’s what’s best for gaming. And to gamers who want to move on from the issues of the past. Who are sick of the racial issues of our country, we cant do that by just ignoring it and moving on. We have to have real intelligent dialogue about race, the issues of our past, and how they effect us to this very day, and we can start by acknowledging that they still have an effect on us this very day. Yes its great we have a black president but this country is far from putting the issues of racism and slavery behind us....else I wouldnt have found this

Well if you read my last blog you know I was really excited about the HTC Touch Diamond, well a few months later I never got that phone; it came out on Sprint not Verizon like I thought...but it will sometime next year but by then who cares. Anyway I replaced my want of the Diamond by the very very very hyped BlackBerry Storm (BBS from now on). Well people have been asking me over and over what I think of the phone because its the hot new item now and hard to get. Well here is my review. Its a really good phone...it has the best screen I have seen on an American phone. Its like HD but in the palm of your hand…lol… Its a BlackBerry (BB) so the Operating System (OS) is awesome and very easy to use. But the real question is how does it compare to the Iphone. The BB OS is better than the Iphone OS but unfortunately this is the slowest blackberry so it does fall short of the Iphone in the speed (as in running apps) department, and a lot of hardcore BB users I know really HATE how slow it runs since most BBs run so fast. The internet browser on the BBS is better than most phones but nowhere in comparison to the Iphone or Opera mini that comes with new Windows Mobile phones like the Diamond or the Omnia . The click screen is great. It may be a change of pace for someone used to a touchscreen phone like the Iphone (so I am sure they won't like it), but if you're used to buttons on a phone (or a QWERTY keyboard) it will feel great to you and it will be much easier to make the switch from a button phone to a touchscreen with the BBS than an Iphone. The screen isnt as precise as the Iphone but again I think that's due to the slowness of the device. Sometimes it doesn't respond instantly to your touch so you think you didnt touch the right spot. The media player is no where close to the ipod on the iphone but its still very good, it plays music, movies, and pictures. It has a lot of the features that people complained were missing from the first Iphone but since these features are in the Iphone 3G it has a lot to live up to. The new Iphone app store has really opened up the device and made it so much better than it was a year ago, while most BlackBerry Apps dont work on the Storm and the ones that do shuck, there are a few that were made by RIM and work great, but these are few and far between (literally there are only like 10 apps). Also some of the better selling points for this phone from Verizon cost extra. Namely VZ Navigation (which turns the phone into a Garmen or TomTom like GPS system), and Visual Voicemail (which lets you see your voicemails and decide which ones you want to listen to); they cost $10 and $3 a month respectively to use (fortunately it does come with BB maps which is like google maps just not navigation). Bottom line in comparing it to the Iphone is it does BB stuff better (email, calendars, documents, etc) but the Iphone is more responsive and does multimedia (pictures, movies, music, internet) better, and thus a better phone. But it's a great device and if your already on Verizon, which to me is the best network in America, and you're looking for an Iphone alternative smartphone, get this if you like Blackberry's and get the Omnia if you like Pocket PCs (part of me wants to switch to the Omnia since I have had PPCs for 4 years now, but there are aspects of the BB OS I love and don't want to lose). Any questions let me know

Lets get right too it.
Soul Calibur IV Rocks.. I have been playing a lot of Soul Calibur IV online lately. This is honestly the first game I play more online than I do offline. I love it. And you know I am playing the PS3 version with Vader. Shit I have created like 30 create a fighters that I like to use when beating peoples asses just to show off. I have met so many friends on there. So if you ever feel like getting your ass handed to you get at me at ccruse1112 on the PlayStation Network. And yes I know the new Madden is out but I don't play Madden so don't worry about challenging me on that. Speaking of gaming why do I even own a 360 anymore. Besides Ninja Gaiden II I haven't really played the damn thing since the holidays, I actually hate the white machine…for now…I am sure Ill feel different once Gears of War II drops in November.
Countdown to the Diamond I don't know when Verizon will launch the phone but I will be getting it on day one…and if you don't know what the Diamond is... click here....http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/HTC-Touch-Diamond-Review-review-r_1956.html
VH1's non-reality shows Suck!!!! Ok if you know me or been reading my blogs then you know I used to be a fan of the "Love" shows on VH-1. But the fakeness of the last season of Flavor of Love turned me off…check my last blog if you want to know what I am talking about. Well Brett Micheals and Ambre announced their break up sighting Brett's hectic life on the road as the reason. Then a week later VH-1 announces a new season of Rock of Love and with a new gemick, instead of being in a mansion they are going to be on a tour bus going from place to place…coincidence no I think not….bullshit is what it is…and knowing they do shit like this I cant get into any of there shows anymore. The New York goes to Hollywood is a joke. Luke's show seems fake…and Diddy is typical BS Diddy.
Serious Shit Well I have had a few people who watch the news ask me, "Hey Chris what's up with Delphi? I hear they are laying off 600 white collar workers. Are you going to lose your job?" Etc etc etc…Well thanks for the concern. I have had a bad time with Delphi since June of last year when my old group downsized. I am a good engineer so I was a high priority to get reassigned but that new job sucked ass and I hated it. Things didn't go well and April of this year I was given a new assignment. Well I was forced out of the BS assignment and asked to do any odd job until they could find me something to do…none of which dealt with engineering….So I pretty much been doing BS for the last few months…That's why I have been looking for work since April. There aren't a lot of jobs out there and the ones I did find weren't really a good fit (a few I really liked but I guess they didn't like me…oh well). So on Monday August 18 2008 when Delphi announced all the layoffs I turned in my letter of resignation. My 6 year tenure with them (8 year if you count being a college intern) had come to an end. But don't worry about me everyone. I will be starting my new job with Fujitsu-Ten on Monday August 25, 2008, with more pay and better benefits…and I don't have to move… YEPPPPIEEEE!!!! I will be an electrical engineer on Toyota Radios (that's the type of work I like). I am scared about working for a Japanese company for a Japanese customer (I hear they are really demanding) but I am prepared for it.
JAJOJA!!! I would really like to take this time to thank all who have prayed for me during this rough time in my life. It has really been hard for me and has tested my faith. I really want to sent a shout out to Ms Jade Jonelle (I hope I spelled that right) Jackson. JAJOJA you really had my back during this tough time, praying for me, giving me words of encouragement, sending me jobs via email, and just having my back and showing me strength, because out of all the people in my life, you know what I'm going through, so it meant more coming from you than anyone else. I mean you went to a black school just like me, you're Greek just like me (pretty boys love pretty girls), we interned together at Delphi, we both hired on there after college, and even though you left Delphi long ago, you still had to deal with a job situation that was not ideal, were the people didn't want you to succeed, and it ended up costing you that job (just like me), and now you have to do a career change. And you've been out of work so long I started to wonder, but yet you keep your head up and your faith in god and you knew better days are ahead for you, and that help me do the same. So I want to thank you for that and tell you how much I love you and will continue to pray for you and I know you will find the right career for yourself soon.

Hey friends… Its been a long time….how the hell are you?...lol…Its been a while since I posted on the blogs, and the last thing I posted I took down because of the racist comments that were posted that pissed me off and actually made me lose my taste for MySpace for a while….but Ill speak on that later (but I will say HAHAHA Barack Obama won the nomination haters!!!) I first have to start by saying big ups to Elliot, he asked for a post and I am giving it to him, and asking everyone to pray for him since he is going to Iraq....Also welcome back RI RI....here are 9 blogs to keep you busy...yes 9....damn!!!
Ok so lets start with the easy Stuff.
Flavor Flav needs to disappear
When the 3rd season of Flavor of Love started, I told everyone on this very blog that Flav was in it for the money and not Love, and I think I was proven right with the reunion show. Fact is if he really cared for the woman he picked he wouldn't have waited until the reunion show to see her. That's what happened last time and why him and Deelishis didn't work. No one from the other shows who have gone on to have good relationship followed that rule. But Flav was about the money not love so he had no problem following that 6 month rule, and each time he went back to his newest baby mama, so it should be no surprise that he proposed to her….and that nigga didn't need a show to do that….now he needs to disappear, because there is no more Flavor of Loves and his other show sucks balls!!!

I love Hulu.com. It is the greatest. If you haven't been on it then you need to get on it. Hulu is an online video on demand service offering streaming video of TV shows and movies, primarily from NBC and FOX and their cable networks. Hulu has online social networking features, allowing users to clip videos, or parts of videos, from the site for posting in outside online communities, like your MySpace page or Facebook. Its like YouTube but instead of user created stuff it has actual TV shows and movies. Best of all most businesses haven't blocked it yet like they have YouTube, so you can watch it from work. I have been watching Hulu pretty much every day at work for the past 3 months. I have begun to watch certain shows exclusively on there that I used to watch on DVR, such as My Name is Earl, The Office, Simpsons, King of the Hill, and Family Guy. They were posting new episodes of these shows the day after they came on TV, so instead of waiting until I get home and watching them on the DVR, I just watched them while at work (I still do my work its just called multitasking). Plus it gives me more time to play videogames while at home instead of watching TV (I have spent sooo much time on GTA IV and Mario Kart Wii). Also I have been able to try new shows out, and become fans of some shows that I never was able to get into on TV, such as Paradise Hotel 2, 30 Rock, The Riches and Arrested Development. It has even made me a fan of SNL again too because I don't have to waste a Saturday Night at home watching an hr long show that has a few funny sketches. Now I just watch a 5 minute long clip of the funniest sketch from the week…AWESOME…(you need to check out Dick in a Box and Punched)…I have never been one of those people that can spend hrs watching YouTube but man I can waste a day on Hulu.com if given the opportunity… Get on it before jobs start blocking it...

A friend of mines needs a new car, she has been driving used cars for many years and is tired of putting money into a car that seems to always need work done. She is finally at a point in her life were she can afford a new vehicle compared to a used vehicle and wants to capitalize on that long dream that many people of my generation have of owning that nice SUV. She asked me about my discount and I asked her want she wanted, she said "a nice midsized SUV"…I said What The Fuck!!! She said she has always wanted on, and I told her "so fucking what!!!". That is a 25k car minimum, with a 22 gallon gas tank and an 14/20 MPG. So if she only goes through 1 tank of gas a week then she is spending $350 a month on gas alone, add to that the $500 (minimum) car note and the $150 (minimum) insurance, now your talking about spending $1000 (minimum) a month on this vehicle. Are you serious? See doing that is fine for a family that has money to burn, but in my opinion when your living check to check that is a little much. Now since I work in the auto-industry I see how much of America is moving away from SUV's and Pick-Ups and starting to buy more fuel efficient cars. The average American family who buys a new car makes more money than my friend, so that should mean something right, I mean if the average American who makes more money than my friend thinks its not wise to buy an SUV because of the economy and gas prices, wouldn't it only be smart to follow the tread and get something else…but NOOOOOO!!!! Oh well she is just going with the foolish behavior so many of our people show in buying things that we want and not things that we need just because we can. Spending $1000 a month on a vehicle before you even own a house is just asinine.

As a serious gamer I have owned most console gaming systems since the days of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System and the Genesis. I have always thought it worth while to own all the systems because each had there own goods and bads and you would miss out on a lot if you didn't have a certain system. For example the SNES had great graphics and rotational sprites, and the Genesis had great speed and processing power. So basically the genesis was great for sports games and games with lots of sprites while the SNES was better for other types of games. So you needed to own both, and since each only cost like $200 it didn't break the bank to own both; same thing with the PS1 and N64 generation or even the PS2/Xbox/GC of last generation. The Xbox had the best looking games, the PS2 had the most games, and the GC had Nintendo games and was dirt cheap. But this generation its good to own a Wii and a PS3 or Wii and a 360 but it really makes no sense (unless you're the hardest of the hardcore like me) to own all 3. A year ago the PS3 and 360 were very different systems, but with all these SW updates that has added functions the PS3 has to the 360 and visa versa and most 3rd party companies bring identical games to both systems, and the fact that these systems cost more by themselves than the other systems from previous generations cost combined; it makes it real hard to recommend to someone to own both the 360 and PS3…Shit I own both and I haven't touched my 360 in a couple of months because I prefer playing games on my PS3. They have the same downloads, same games, same graphics, everything…and since as any person who has read my blogs can tell you I prefer my PS3, I just haven't used my 360 much since the last exclusive game worth playing (which I cant even remember right now). But hey I will be getting Ninja Gaiden 2 when it drops so there is a reason for me to pick up a 360 again…

Don't read this if you don't want spoilers to the game. Ok everyone knows how much I have loved the new GTA game. Its definitely the best game I have played in a very long time. I actually only have one problem with the game, and that's the fact that I was a little disappointed with the story at the end of the game. I know some people have told me that they didn't like the fact that the game was scaled down compared to San Andreas. No more flying planes, riding bicycles, picking up shit with a forklift, firetruck missions, ambulance missions, or customizing the character with just about any clothing, haircut, and body structure you want. And to those people I say get over it, because the way the game was done puts more focus on the many things you can do, and makes you care and have more feelings for the characters in the game, specifically Niko. I honestly care about Niko and his plight more than I do the city he is in, compared to other GTA games where the character was just a means to explore the terrific cities in the games. But the end of this game with the situation with the diamonds and the choice as to which ending you get, I was left feeling unsatisfied. With the diamonds situation it shouldn't have ended with 2 million dollars worth of diamonds falling in a truck to be lost forever. The characters really should have went after them, and even if they didn't find them in this game (maybe they save that for future downloadable content), there should have still been some indication that the characters were going to look for them. Same thing with the tormentor of Niko from the old country, there should have been some indication of what the future may hold between those two that maybe explored in future DLC. And Lastly the choice as to rather Kate decides to be with you and dies or doesn't and live should have been explored deeper before making the choice. I mean when you decide to kill Demitri or let him live, the game focuses on the money and honor of that choice, and Kate gives her opinion when you ask what you should do. There is no indication that how she feels about you will hinder on the decision to work with or kill Demitri. I think if that would have been explained that more before making the choice, I would have been more comfortable with the ending. But other than those few gripes I thought the story was great…and this is still the best game out there…maybe now that I have beat the game I will open my Mario Kart Wii...
Speaking of GTA...read the next blog

The other day while stuck in traffic and some jackass kept honking his horn at me, I just wanted to have a GTA moment. I wanted to get out of my car, walk to his car, yank him out of it and beat him upside his head. Now for anyone who knows me this isn't a new thing with me (just ask Jade), I have gotten out of my car in the middle of traffic and had conversations with people in traffic before. I have a rule that if you wouldn't do or say something to someone's face, don't say it from the safety of a vehicle. For example how many small white women do you think would curse out and give the finger to a 6ft tall 220lb black man covered in tattoos face to face??? But just about everyone would do that from a car….hmmm why is that?? Anyway I am going to start a list of things that deserve a GTA moment… 1) Lets start with the asshole from yesterday…If you are stuck in a traffic jam and no one can drive 50 yards without stopping, there is no reason to honk at someone to drive up. What's the purpose…they ain't going anywhere…you honk your horn you deserve to get beat.
2) If you're driving on the freeway and doing the speed limit, and someone speeds up behind you and starts blasting on their horn for you to move out of their way, they deserve a beat down. Why should you move because they want to break the law…bitch go around...
3) Asshole Cops. I had a cop give me a ticket for my window tent the other day. Something I have had for 5 years on this car alone, shit 8 years if you count all my cars. I have gotten the exact same type of tent for all these years and I have never gotten a ticket about this shit but this one asshole of a cop decided to give me a ticket on this shit and be a real asshole about it. I just wanted to have a GTA moment and beat his ass down. Ok that's it for now… Feel free to add to this list…if you have your own GTA moment.
