Current mood: enlightened
It's kind of sad that you when you tell people your a Christian, immediately their defenses go up. It's almot like saying your a used car salesman.( I don't mean to rip on used car salesman) Being a Christian is not about being religous, people are sick of religous people. Christ himself did not care for the so called religous people (The Pharisee's). He called them hypocrites, that what most people call us christians. The Bible itself is about a passionate God, wanting His creation to encounter Him. It ends in the book of Revelation with Christ returning for His bride. Christ wants to rule and reign in enternity with us. To me that's amazing and beyond my comprehehnsion. but if that's what He wants who am I to question. He must love us more than we know. He was willing to pay the price of His life so that His bride (believers) could enter into intimacy forever. One way to enter into that romance on a deeper level is that is often neglected is through prayer and fasting. Prayer we all know about (talking to God) Fasting is mostly a foreign language in the church in America. It's about denying the flesh so that your spirit is awakened. When we fast we are in a state of weakness. Your surrendering yourself to God and it allows him to move in a more powerful way. "His strength is made perfect in weakness." That's why healings, miracles, moves of God take place in China, India and Africa on major levels. The people are pressing in through prayer and fasting and God responds. Check out the book of Daniel chapter 10. Daniel is 84 years old but he is in passionate pursuit of God through prayer and fasting. When you deny your flesh, your spirit man comes alive. The Bible says "when your fast" (Matt.6) it's not saying if you fast, fasting is a requirement. I've had some powerful dreams and visions and even heard the audible voice of God once. He said "trust in me" during a period when I was really struggling, but sought answers through prayer and fasting. I didn't get all the answers I was searching for, but somehow the answers weren't that important after that experience. It was a stunning moment that will have an eternal impact on me. Christians, stop doing church and go after Christ in passionate pursuit.
