Hey, how is everybody?
Things are ramping up towards the release of my solo record, there's a lot of cool shit going on.
But, more importantly, there is the George Lopez's "Help Haiti Benefit" show at the Nokia Theater tomorrow night. I am performing a couple songs with Beth Hart. Who, if you are not familiar with her is a 1st rate blues/R&R singer/song writer. But go to click here for the list of special guests & click here to get tickets.
Raising cash for devastated Haiti has to be at the forefront of everybody's minds right now & will need to be for some time so we can help them rebuild. On another note, Ernie Ball, Guitar Center & I have a couple new campaigns, the details of which are at ernieball.com & yournextrecord.com. I'm really into the idea of inspiring young guitar players & discovering new talented R&R bands & unleashing them unto the world. Up & coming Rock & Roll talent is getting largely overlooked in the business these days & I want to change that.
Also, I want to announce that Myles Kennedy is going to be fronting the band for the upcoming tour. Something I'm really stoked about. Myles sang a killer track on the record & I think he is by far one of the best Rock & Roll singers out there today. I'm really honored & proud to be working with him. I will announce the other band members shortly.
Lastly, we're starting to route the tour. I want all my fans to follow me on Twitter & tell me what city/country they're from & to tell all their friends & family in that city/country, who are fans, to do the same. I want to get a really good idea on where my fans are, even the obvious major cities & focus the tour around that. So if you're from Alaska or Zimbabwe or anywhere in between I want to hear from you. Follow me at Twitter.com/slashhudson
That's it, I'm excited about the new record & about the band I'm putting together for the tour. I've been jamming around town with everybody & their brother for the last year & I can't wait to get out & do my own show finally. It's going to be a gas.
See you soon,
Slash iiii|; ),

Someone reading this is going to record a song with Slash, for real.
In addition to the album news, Slash has teamed up with Guitar Center, the world's largest musical instrument retailer, for a first-of-its kind undiscovered music program, Guitar Center Presents Your Next Record with Slash, an unsigned band competition that provides emerging artists the chance to win the ultimate career-altering opportunity: record a 3-song EP with legendary producer, Mike Clink (Guns N' Roses, Motley Crue, Megadeth) and have Slash write, record and perform on the winning artists' single. Starting today, through April 30th, 2010 bands across the United States are invited to submit their music at YourNextRecord.com for a chance to win.

ICONIC ROCK GUITARIST SLASH TO RELEASE FIRST SOLO ALBUM SLASH
Album Features All Star Guest Line-Up Of Collaborators (Feb 1, 2010) – In what will be his first true solo album, rock icon Slash announced today his CD, SLASH, will release in April 2010. The album features an all-star roster of guest musicians including Ian Astbury, Chris Cornell, Rocco DeLuca, Fergie, Dave Grohl, Myles Kennedy, Kid Rock, Lemmy Kilmeister, Adam Levine of Maroon 5, Duff McKagan, M. A major undertaking for Slash, he enlisted services of producing partner Eric Valentine (Queens of Stone Age, The All-American Rejects) and compiled a rhythm section of bassist Chris Chaney (Jane’s Addiction) and drummer Josh Freese (Nine Inch Nails). Slash handled the majority of arranging and songwriting duties and hand-picked each guest artist. The album’s guests worked collaboratively with Slash to round out the song.
“The idea was really simple in the beginning,” said Slash. “These are all artists I wanted to work with – that I thought it would be amazing to do something creative and collaborative. And I was so impressed with what everyone brought to the table. They were all so committed to doing a good job. And we had a lot of fun making these songs.”
The album will be released through EMI Label Services. "We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Slash on the "Slash" project. EMI Label Services and Caroline Distribution will be providing unique marketing and promotion services while working closely with Slash on creative ways to expose this great project to the consumer," said Dominic Pandiscia, SVP and General Manager, EMI Label Services and Caroline Distribution.

Greetings enthusiasts, how is everybody doing this festive season? All's well over here in the City of Bangles. I'll be Staying in town for the holidays, but I'm doing a poker tourney in the Bahamas 1st week of January, which is a benefit for "The Foundation for AIDs Research," or AMFAR. It should be a cool trip & it’s for an important cause.
The mastering session of my solo record is done. We did it at Sterling Sound with George Marino, who is hands down the most genius mastering engineer I've ever worked with. He is the perfect engineer to best bring out the dynamic nuances of the analog recording & I'm ecstatic with the results.
Although, it is not in my nature to brag about how good the performances are or how good the songs are, I will say, between Eric Valentine & George Marino it is a fucking great sounding record.
We are now in the process of mixing the special bonus tracks which should be done next week. Then, we will master those & be done with the whole recording, mixing, mastering process.
I should be signing a US distribution deal in the coming days, I will announce who with as soon as I do. We're still looking at an April release so far.
I'll be at the NAMM show next year announcing the New "Slash model" Marshall, as well as a new signature Les Paul & a signature set of Seymour Duncan pick ups, all of which will be available early in the new year. I played the new "Slash model" prototype with the new Seymour Duncan pick ups at the KLOS Christmas Show at the Nokia recently & they sound fantastic. The performance was a little loose, but the guitar sounded great ; )
Anyway, things have been pretty busy around here. Until next time, have a great holiday & happy new year, 2010 is going to be killer! Iiiii|; ),

Hey, what's happening? I had planned on posting this sooner, but the holiday came & I got sidetracked. Anyway, I hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving regardless. The fundraiser at the Avalon was a complete success, the concert raised 170k for LA Youth Network & made it possible for them to keep open their doors. If you were there thank you so much for your support. The gig itself was awesome, all the guests that appeared brought their A game, made a tremendous effort & really made it a special event. There were some fantastic moments up there that night for sure. I want to thank Ozzy, Perry Farrell, Billy Idol, Chester Bennington, Andrew Stockdale, Travis Barker, Dave Navarro, Steve Adler, Duff McKagan, Franky Perez, Chris Chaney & George Lopez for their selfless contributions. I want to thank the amazing crew who made the whole thing come off without a hitch & did it for little to nothing. And, everybody who donated generously to the cause. I also want to thank KLOS, The Huffington Post, the LA Times, the LA Weekly & Fox Sports News for their time & effort in helping to advertise & help make this a sellout Rock & Roll show, the likes of which could never be duplicated.
My solo record is about to go into mastering, it sounds really good already, but that's the final step in the recording process & then it is finished. There is a lot of really cool plans being made for the release of this album, its going to be a blast.
I have a new "Slash Model" Les Paul in the works, I just saw & played the 1st prototype, its killer. There is also a Marshall 100w amp being developed that I'm helping design that shouldn't be too far off as well. More news on both those items as it develops.
I'm also playing a few songs at the KLOS Christmas Party Dec 16th at the Nokia Theater along with Steve Lukather, Jason Bonham & a host of others which promises to be a good time I'm sure.
That's about it, talk to you soon. Iiii|; ),
