We are recording a new record!!!!
Last week we began recording the basic tracks for the album with Raymond Richards over at his beautiful studio Red Rockets Glare.
Drums, bass, guitars, organ, wurlitzer, mellotron done on 4 songs already!
Looking to be full length.
Title ... TBD! Send suggestions, as always. Our ears are open. =)

We are very very very excited to show these new songs to all of you. It's been QUITE awhile since our last full length release ... in fact, since King Giraffe. So this is a big deal for us!!!

Stay tuned!!!!

Some of you know (some may not) that we are going to be releasing a brand new 7" EP in April. We have finished recording/mixing/mastering, and it is being sent to the pressing plant next week!!

Now the IMPORTANT part. Naming the release.

We the band have narrowed it to two names ... and we are in a deadlock. We'd love an outside opinion. If you would be so kind, please cast your vote in a comment (or in a message, if you'd like to be more private about the matter).

Do you prefer:

Unicornicopia

or

Orangufang

So we've got some announcements to make, to those of you who care to read!

First off - WE HAVE A NEW 3 SONG EP VERY MUCH IN THE WORKS!!! Keep your eyes and ears peeled. This looks to be coming out digitally and ON VINYL. We are really excited. We will let you know details as they emerge. But three cheers for new releases!

Sad news is this: our lovely bass player David Swensen (Flat Man Parson), and our even lovelier keyboardess and tambourine-goddess Erin Way (Combat Parson) are not going to be playing with us very much starting this year.
David has moved to Portland with his wife, following the opportunity to run his very own recording studio! Its super exciting, although sad that we won't have his sweet bass licks. But please note - he is still penned in as part of our touring lineup. So when we hit the road, at least most of the time, he will be with us as part of our rhythm section. He is a 100% Parson, and they never disappear completely! So those who catch us on tour, you are lucky.
Erin, my sis, has become SO busy with acting (her real passion and goal), that she is running out of both time and energy...and life...to pursue both acting and the band full time. She will still be singing and tambo-ing with us when she is able, at shows all around the LA-area. But she is having to cut back severely. Sad for us, but it is for a good reason!
But we'd like to give you the word of NEW Parsons filling their places! Andy Creighton, who many of you know as Andy, lead singer and songwriter of The World Record, will be taking over as our bass player. This is exciting (and he needs a Parson name - any ideas?). And Taylor Goldsmith, of the wonderful band Dawes, will be often playing keyboards with us, as well. This is really exciting. These guys are top notch players, and top notch friends of ours.

Thanks everyone for reading! The Parsons are really excited for this new year. We have a ton of new music, and all sorts of plans and ideas. I think 2009 will be our best year yet. Can't wait to see all of you at shows. Can't wait to play you new songs and hang out. Lets make 2009 the year of the dance party, okay!?!?!?

So you know those bands you see/hear and say to yourself: "how are these guys not totally famous right now? It's a crime!" Well, I do the same thing. A lot. It makes me angry that bands I feel are uncommonly better than most bands are so unknown to so many people. I get filled with a rage brought on by injustice. So here I am to quell that fire. Here is a list of bands that you have to hear now. Otherwise....you are no better than a criminal.
