To update all the local show goers about the Thursday July 9th show @ the Keith Anderson Community Center:

The Insubordinates(NY) had to postpone their tour because most of their shows fell through at the last minute.  They do hope to reschedule their tour for a later date and again come to Maine.  They wanted to let everyone know this is not standard operating procedure for them but they would not be able to carry on with the few shows they had remaining due to the costs they would have to incur to get to them.  Understandable!

***  The show will still go on with 5 awesome bands including ***
PINKO & THE ACTION BOYS
JOSEPH MERRICK
CRACK HEAD MIKES
AFGHAN BANANA STAND
BREADLINE

This will be a rocking show, so come out and dance your asses off!

Hello again CRR supporters!

Lots of news to cover this time around, let's get started.  We are updating our Myspace account once again to include new links.  We took down the old links for now but they will be reposted on the new "Resources" page of our website.  That page is still in the works but as soon as it's finished we'll be adding a link to the page directly from our Myspace homepage, for your touring & D.I.Y needs.  This page will include links to local venues, show promoters, zines, and more.  Parts of the website are still down until we get a chance to finish them, but the rest of the site is up and running. For details on the new links added to our Myspace page, check out the LINKS section below.

We added a new song to our site this week, and we also added lyrics to most of the new songs on our Myspace songplayer.  Check out the SONGS section below to find out whats new.  New photos and videos have been posted, for details see the PHOTOS and VIDEOS section below.  We also added a new show to our list of upcoming CRR shows, as well as posted new updates for some of the shows we already had set up.  Check out the SHOWS section below for updates.  New distro items have been added and a few items have sold out.  For details on what's new and what's gone, check out the DISTRO section below.

In other CRR news, we'd like to congratulate John Blanchette of Bangor, ME for taking 1st place in the Nintendo Kontest back in April.  Here's a photo of John with his "official" P.U.N.K. Fest trophy.

We would like to announce the launching of a new website for the Bangor Community Media Project.  They are going to include a space on their new site with a directory of local artists, musicians and filmmakers.  A forum is planned, as well as Mp3 sharing for local bands.  They are in search of bands who are interested in advertising their music on their site, so if your band is interested send a few songs as well as contact information to Brandon at zeraph.moore@gmail.com.  Send song files as attachements, or send a link for Brandon to download your songs in mp3 format.  The Mp3 submissions must be in by June 1st at the latest.

PHOTOS
Since our last News update we have added photos from 2 different local Maine shows.  The first set of photos is located under the 05/09/09 @ The Big Easy, Portland ME album.  Photos from this show include USA Waste, I Barbarian, Grendel's Army and The New 45.  The second batch of photos are located in the 05/20/09 @ The Kave, Bucksport ME album.  They include photos of Fight For Blood, Vails Gate and Interrogator

LINKS
New links added to our site this month include two D.I.Y. record distros we'd like to support as well as a New England show posting/entertainment news site.  Dirty Feet Records is a D.I.Y. punk label based out of Tucson, AZ.  It was formerly Did It Myself Records out of Auburn, ME.  They are  looking for bands to be on their next compilation CD.  Contact them via the link or through e-mail at dimrecords@gmail.com.
Tsunami Records is a D.I.Y. thrash label out of Shapleigh, ME.  They also have an online distro with tons of vinyl for decent prices, as well as links, photos, videos and more.
The Glimpse Monthly is a New England entertainment news site.  Their site includes show postings, band reviews, music news, venue information and much more.  They also provide information on upcoming local art and comedy events.

Hello CRR Supporters!

First off, we would like to say thank-you to everyone who made P.U.N.K. Fest such an amazing and memorable event!  Thank you to all the volunteers who helped run the show, including Adam Conners, Pieter Vanhorn, and Andrew Vanhorn (Nintendo Kontest designers/judges), Deborah Bradford (pizza cook), Terry Shark (helped run the door), as well as Jayme and Shane from Voice zine for helping advertise, film and taking some photos for us. We also need to say thanks to all the bands who came out and rocked us.  We were lucky to have the band Forged Steel jump on the bill at the last minute to play a pretty badass set.  Local band The Nerve Endings also played a surprise set, reuniting after 2 years of hiatus in place of Use Your Head.  Thank you to Nate "Amigo" Michaud for his excellant comedy act.  We hope to work with Nate again at future CRR shows.  Overall it was a blast for everyone, everything went smoothly and we were able to fit 13 bands and a comedy act into our schedule.  Genres of bands included punk, accoustic, thrash, metal, and hardcore.

Here is a list of acts who performed at P.U.N.K. Fest:
The Crackhead Mikes
The Union Rivers Tragedy
Martin Chartrand
Nate Michaud
The Nerve Endings
I Barbarian
Grendel's Army
Mongoloid
Kicking Dicks
Forged Steel
The Besides
Interrogator
USA Waste
Clinic Bomb

We also would like to thank everyone who set up literature tables or who brought items to sell/trade.  Thank you to Brandon at the Bangor Community Media Collective, and to Martin at FoodANDMedicine for coming out.  We also want to thank the artists who helped contribute to making and helping set up all the awesome Nintendo-themed decorations, including Shawn, Junebug, Andrew, Pieter, Mike, Erin, Dave, Fred and Kimmy.  And once again, thank you to Aaron for the P.U.N.K. Fest flyer art.  But most of all, we would like to thank everyone who came out to support their local musicians/writers/comedians/artists and lets not forget record labels!  The Fest was a success because of you!

The Nintendo Kontest also went smoothly.  We unfortunately didn't get the last name of the First place winner, but his first name was John and he went home with a trophy, a $20 gift certificate to Bullmoose Music, and a free NES game system.  An official NES gamer's glove was awarded to the runner up, whose name is also unknown.  The top 8 contestants to make it onto the brackett board were all awarded with an official CRR "Small Braggers Rights Certificate Of Mediocracy".  See the brackett posted below for names of certificate winners.

With the change in seasons we are expecting to be working overtime trying to help out touring bands with shows here in the Bangor/Brewer area!  We're looking forward to meeting new folks and hearing some fresh music from all over the country, and abroad.  We've set up a show for touring Irish punk bands Ended and Totally Stoked in Orono on Monday, June 22nd.  We also have a show in the process of being set up for touring punk band The Insubordinates (from NY) on July 9th, to be held at the KACC in Orono.  Our show on May 27th has had another touring band added to the lineup.  In addition to Suburban Showdown, the punk band The Cups from Witchita, KS will now be playing this show as part of their East Coast tour.  For more information about the new shows we are setting up, check out the SHOWS section below.

We've got some new items in our distro this week, including new vinyl, CD's and a few comps featuring local New England bands.  We'll be posting another blog later on today including a detailed list of what we have new in stock. We've also added a bunch of new songs to our songplayer this week, including live tracks from some local bands who have played shows that we put on in the past.  The tracks were taken from video footage and converted to mp3's for your listening pleasure. For more info on the songs we posted up this week, check out the SONGS section below.

We have also added a bunch of new videos to our Youtube site since our last CRR News update, including footage from P.U.N.K. Fest, so check the VIDEOS section below for a list of what's new!  New P.U.N.K. Fest photos have been added to our Myspace photo album as well.  See PHOTOS section below for more details on what bands are featured in the new album entitled "P.U.N.K. Fest 04.26.09 @ The KACC in Orono, ME".

In other CRR news, our website has been up and down lately.  We apologize to our users for any problems this may have caused if they were trying to buy anything out of our online record distro.  We are working out the problems and are currently working on updating the website with some new features.  Keep an eye out for posts about the new site changes.

Tuesday, March 24, 2009
Hey there, CRR supporters!

Spring is here!  We have many updates for you this week, as I skipped last week's News Blog on account of being sick.  So let's get started:

Last Saturday was our official CD release show for the local hardcore band Fight For Blood.  The lineup also included Vail's Gate, A Second To Breathe, Spit Ya Teeth, Interrogator, and Rant.
Fight For Blood's new CD "Dominator" is now available through our distro, or you can buy it directly from the band.  Photos from this show were also posted this week, see the PHOTOS section below for details.

Along with the new Fight For Blood CD, we have many new items in our distro this week! Check out the DISTRO section below for more details.

In other CRR News, we are back to our regular M-F schedule with our Youtube clips until further notice.  We have been experiencing problems with our video camera, so the schedule may be interrupted again depending on how long the camera lasts vs. how long it takes us to save up for a new one.  We'll do our best to keep it going with the clips we have for now.

P.U.N.K. Fest planning is well underway!  First of all, we would like to thank Aaron from Afghan Banana Stand for creating the flier, and a big thank you goes out to all the volunteers who came out on Sunday to help create some pretty awesome decorations for the hall.  We finalized the details of the Nintendo Kontest which will be posted (along with the game list) this Friday!  We are also making some changes to the show time and price. For more details on P.U.N.K. Fest updates, check the SHOWS section below!

Now that Summer is almost here, we are changing the News Blog schedule to once every few weeks or so.  We are anticipating several new releases for this season, and the more time we have to spend on putting them out, the better.  We are also expecting to host some fun shows this summer and will do our best to book as many touring bands as we can to play Maine.  Unfortunately we won't be able to help EVERYONE out, as we are limited in funds and venue availability is scarce.  We apologize to the bands who we've had to turn down due to conflicting schedules or otherwise, and hope that we have a chance to work with you in the future.  We will also be posting up some more upcoming local shows on our Myspace page later on this week, so keep an eye out for updates.

PHOTOS
New show photos were posted from last Saturday's show at The Kave, including photos of Fight For Blood, Vail's Gate, A Second To Breathe, Spit Ya Teeth, Interrogator, and Rant.  Look for these photos in the album entitled "03.21.09 @ the Kave in Bucksport, ME".
