NEW LINE UP, NEW SHOW, NEW RECORD....yall ready??

Well regardless, we're coming, and it's gonna be big. = )

So let me take this moment to officially welcome Abstract Rude to the crew!!
Yes indeed, on Microphone duties for the US tour, it will be none less than
Yarah Bravo & Abstract Rude (ATU & Project Blowed)
I raise my glass to one of the illest baritones in hip hop...Welcome!

And Of course on deck duties we got Dj Vadim holding it down!!

Aight, let me get to the point...

If you are familiar with One Self. Then you are probably familiar with
mine and my crews work ethics.
The only way to make change in this music industry and in this world
in general, is if we unite. And truly support what we believe in!

So when we head on tour to spread our music and vibration.
We want our fans to be part of this experience. We want to connect,
and be connected.

We want you to get involved, cause at the end of the day our music
lives through you.

There are a lot of ways in which you can help.

The main one at the moment though is to help us get the word out
on the upcoming tour. There really won't be any promotion except
for the work that we put in ourselves, here on myspace and on our
websites etc. But since we're on the road most of the time, and the
world is as big as it is...
it's impossible for us to hit up all the local radio stations and record
shops to promote it.
That's where you come in.

We are looking to create a Street Team in all the cities we are hitting.
We need people who can help us distribute flyers and posters to record
stores, clothes stores, coffee shops, colleges... hit up local radio, campus
radio, promote at local shows etc....and spread the word!
If you got a website, or run a blog etc...feel free to post it on there as well.
we'll make online flyers too.
We are not Rockafella. We do this music on a independant level with
no backing, no sponsorship or outside money or funding.
So there will be no money involved, but you will get hooked up in any other
way possible. guestlist passes, beers, drinks, respect, and hugs in abundance
and of course you will be shown a good time as part of our team.

Like on our One Self tour in the US, we met some amazing heads that
became part of the family and will remain in our circle of friends for a looooong
time to come. Bless up for the continuous support! And let the family expand...

Diesel

In 1893, German inventor Rudolph Diesel published a paper entitled "The Theory and Construction of a Rational Heat Engine," which described an engine in which air is compressed by a piston to a very high pressure, causing a high temperature. Fuel is then injected and ignited by the compression temperature.

Diesel built his first engine based on that theory the same year and, though it worked only sporadically, he patented it. Within a few years, Diesel's design became the standard of the world for that type of engine and his name was attached to it.

Diesel thought that the United States was the greatest potential market for his engine. The first diesel built in the United States was made in 1898 by Busch-Zulzer Brothers Diesel Engine Co. The president of that company was Adolphus Busch, of Budweiser brewing fame, who had purchased North American manufacturing rights. 1

Diesel's Humanitarian Vision:

Diesel originally thought that the diesel engine, (readily adaptable in size and utilizing locally available fuels) would enable independent craftsmen and artisans to endure the powered competition of large industries that then virtually monopolized the predominant power source-the oversized, expensive, fuel-wasting steam engine. During 1885 Diesel set up his first shop-laboratory in Paris and began his 13-year ordeal of creating his distinctive engine.. At Augsburg, on August 10, 1893, Diesel's prime model, a single 10-foot iron cylinder with a flywheel at its base, ran on its own power for the first time. Diesel spent two more years at improvements and on the last day of 1896 demonstrated another model with the spectacular, if theoretical, mechanical efficiency of 75.6 percent, in contrast to the then-prevailing efficiency of the steam engine of 10 percent or less. Although commercial manufacture was delayed another year and even then begun at a snail's pace, by 1898 Diesel was a millionaire from franchise fees in great part international. His engines were used to power pipelines, electric and water plants, automobiles and trucks, and marine craft, and soon after were used in applications including mines, oil fields, factories, and transoceanic shipping.2

DuPont, Mellon, and Hearst:

Diesel expected that his engine would be powered by vegetable oils (including hemp) and seed oils. At the 1900 World's Fair, Diesel ran his engines on peanut oil. Later, George Schlichten invented a hemp 'decorticating' machine that stood poised to revolutionize paper making. Henry Ford demonstrated that cars can be made of, and run on, hemp. Evidence suggests a special-interest group that included the DuPont petrochemical company, Secretary of the Treasury Andrew Mellon (Dupont's major financial backer), and the newspaper man William Randolph Hearst mounted a yellow journalism campaign against hemp. Hearst deliberately confused psychoactive marijuana with industrial hemp, one of humankind's oldest and most useful resources. DuPont and Hearst were heavily invested in timber and petroleum resources, and saw hemp as a threat to their empires. Petroleum companies also knew that petroleum emits noxious, toxic byproducts when incompletely burned, as in an auto engine. Pollution was important to Diesel and he saw his engine as a solution to the inefficient, highly polluting engines of his time. In 1937 DuPont, Mellen and Hearst were able to push a "marijuana" prohibition bill through Congress in less than three months, which destroyed the domestic hemp industry.

A Mystery:

Diesel died under mysterious circumstances in 1913, vanishing during an overnight crossing of the English Channel on the mail steamer Dresden from Antwerp to Harwich. Diesel's death might have been suicide, accidental or an assassination. Proponents of the assassination theory point out that shortly after Diesel's death, a diesel-powered German submarine fleet became the scourge of the seas. Diesel had been friendly to France, Britain and the United States. 1

What's To Come?

2000: Volkswagen was the only manufacturer to offer passenger cars with diesel engines in the U.S. The diesel car is dead in this country, killed by cheap gasoline. However, the diesel engine is being reconsidered by the Society of Automotive Engineers. The future CAFE (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) standards (40 miles per gallon +) could be met with highly efficient diesel engines as are currently built and marketed in Japan. Electric cars are another possible solution. Diesel powered vehicles have many advantages when compared to electric-vehicles. The development and implementation of biofuels in conjunction with small diesel engines could greatly reduce air pollution.

Star Wars III - The Backstroke of the West

This was originally posted on winterson.com but as the page is no longer around I've put up a copy here for all to enjoy. This is one of the funniest things I've seen in ages!

Original post:

I saw revenge of the sith last weekend at a local theater with my friend Joe who was in town on business. It was much better than the first two movies and a fitting end (err.. middle) to the Star Wars saga.

The next day I was walking past my friendly dvd salesperson and decided to check out Revenge of the Sith. I was assured the quality was good and for 7rmb why not give it a shot.

Aside from the counters on the top of the screen and a distorted perspective it was ok- not high quality but watchable. The captions were a hilarious surprise- a direct English translation of the Chinese interpretation of what the script was saying. It varied from being somewhat close to the script to being 'far far away'....

Star Wars Epsiode 3

amazingly enough, the beginning scroll is mistranslated even though the words are right there on the screen.

Star Wars Epsiode 3 Star war (just one)

Star Wars Epsiode 3 'The backstroke of the west' is the English translation of the chinese title.

Star Wars Epsiode 3Anakin: "this is where the fun begins"

Star Wars Epsiode 3Obi Wan: "Let them pass between us"

Star Wars Epsiode 3 Obi Wan, space battle strategist.

Star Wars Epsiode 3Obi Wan grows impatient with R2.

Star Wars Epsiode 3 the chancellor warns Anakin and Obi Wan that Count Dooku is... big.

Star Wars Epsiode 3 Obi Wan assures the chancellor that it's no problem.

Star Wars Epsiode 3Count Dooku talks tough.

Star Wars Epsiode 3 that's Chancellor Palpatine speaking, talking about Obi Wan.

Star Wars Epsiode 3Anakin taunts General Grevious.

Star Wars Epsiode 3 the General fires off a snappy comeback.

Star Wars Epsiode 3 ummm... ????

Star Wars Epsiode 3Yoda: "Premonitions? Premonitions?"

Star Wars Epsiode 3 sounds like something Yoda might actually say... maybe.

Star Wars Epsiode 3Anakin is haunted by dreamses.

Star Wars Epsiode 3 troopseses!

Star Wars Epsiode 3Anakin gets frustrated with the Jedi council.

Star Wars Epsiode 3 this seemed completely random until I figured out that 'Jedi Council' was being translated into Chinese then back to English as 'the Presbyterian Church'.

Star Wars Epsiode 3Anakin: "Obi Wan, may the force be with you"

Star Wars Epsiode 3Anakin bargains for the life of his cuckoldry. Cuckoldry?

Star Wars Epsiode 3C3PO tells the amorous couple to get a room.

Star Wars Epsiode 3Obi Wan can't face what he must do.

Star Wars Epsiode 3Yoda insists...

Star Wars Epsiode 3 ...and explains that the person he once knew noed longer is.

Star Wars Epsiode 3Anakin tells Padme about his new virtues, now being both strong and big.

Star Wars Epsiode 3 Padme doesn't want strong and big- she also doesn't want to walk on a road meant for running about.

Star Wars Epsiode 3 Lier!!!

Star Wars Epsiode 3Obi Wan has heard enough.

Star Wars Epsiode 3Ii love this translation. Darth Vader is actually shouting, "Nooooooooooooo..."

Captions there be, mangled they are.
