heres a few reviews we got in for the Double Scoop CD and a live review...

UNDER THE VOLCANO issue #96-

The Obsessors "Double Scoop"

Like a beam of radiant light cutting through the all-consuming darkness of the current indie scene comes The Obsessors. Quirky female pop-vocals compliment this energetic and profoundly fun release. Double Scoop delivers songs ranging from subjects like SUVs, kleptomania, zombies, and creepy stalkers. The bands use of keyboards on nearly every track really helped to enhance the album's overall sound, making it largely enjoyable. The guitar work brings out the band's bold simplicity and raw musical approach, but has just enough polish to smooth the whole thing over. (CD) -Manic

RAZORCAKE issue #37-

OBSESSORS, THE:
Double Scoop: CD
Total Devo-influenced punk rock with cool girl and boy vocals! With keyboards! I have no idea, but I hope their live shows feature lasers. New wave silliness, with lyrics about zombies, toxic waste, kleptomaniacs, and presidential stutters (seriously!). If this were a cereal, it'd be Cocoa Krispies. Take regular Rice Krispies (sort of political, serious lyrics), then add tons of chocolate and sugar! Yum! –Maddy (Braindart)

METRO NEWSPAPER-

The Obsessors

SUBURBAN subversives with more hooks in their music than a pro fisherman has in his tacklebox, the Obsessors are hitting Johnny V's with their retro-infused punk rock and the amps cranked. The Obsessors just hit that certain tone that's reminiscent of New Wave mashed willingly with the chops of punk. Their sound could've sat comfortably in the revolutionary musical age of the early '80s, but is thankfully being belted out at a dive bar near you. Catch the Obsessors tonight with hardcore thrashers Butterface and the Misdaringers.

Ryan Osterbeck

The Obsessors play on Friday (Feb. 16) at 8pm at Johnny V's, 31 E. Santa Clara St., San Jose. Tickets are $5. (408.947.8470)

It is at Homestead Lanes bowling alley in Cupertino and its all-ages w/ bar for the big kids, show up and support bowling punk.

We will not be booking any new shows thru Nov. and Dec. '06.  Cobra Lily will be having surgery in late Nov. and needs some time to recouperate.  We have been writing new songs and will be recording our second album tentively titled "Wiretap" in early Jan. once again with the amazing Mr. Bart Thurber at House of Faith. Expect the Obsessors to return to their wave af sonic destruction in 2007.
The split 7" with our friends THE MUCKRUCKERS is in production and should be out by years end!
Thats it for now as my head aches, eyes burn and ears ring...stay tuned for more updates soon.
see ya,
Kirby

Here are a couple reviews I found online for the Obsessors, more will be posted
when they come in for the "Double Scoop" CD (stay tuned). Thanks alot to those who took the time to write about us-

THE OBSESSORS "DOUBLE SCOOP" CD

I was privileged to get a copy of THE OBSESSORS "Double Scoop" CD. The album just came out recently, and it's easily one of the best albums of 2006. Quirky-fun New Wave Punk with awesome catchy vocals. It's a 17 song masterpiece. Get their album as soon as you can! -REAL HOGAN

THE OBSESSORS - punk/pop-punk
I was expecting a "Devo meets Blondie" sound from The Obsessors, but instead they mainly reminded me of early X, one of my all-time favorite bands. They've even got their own little Exene in the person of Cobra Lily, on vocals. It may take a little time for Lily to grow on me, but the guitars in this band are a powerhouse. Absolute thermonuclear guitar energy! The songs had some of that old-school bratty punk humor to them, and they were catchy and fun. "Best Daughter" was my favorite, but all the Obsessors' songs were good. This would be a great punk band to dance to, but last night's crowd was a little too thin for that. Oh well. ***½ -Chris, Bay Area Ska

Best Daughter
by The Obsessors
pop, rock, punk rock

Din says: Oh man, this is brill. Best daughter falls from grace with dad by falling in love with a punker. Heh heh.. I was that dude once :) And a firm believer in karma, I shall never have kids. Have fun obsessing over The Obsessors! I know I am.

The Obsessors

Next up are local punkers the Obsessors on the miniscule stage at Johnny V's. The Obsessors shoot their taser-style hooks..hot-wired directly to their amps..straight into your head and crank the volume up to 11. Straight out of the suburban digs to the nearest dive bar, the Obsessors hit with melodic riffs, harkening back to the gutter-laureate days of bands like original West Coast subversives X blended with the anti-materialist bent of Devo, spitting out bratty New Wave punk.

Fronted by Cobra Lily, who shares vocals with guitarist Kirby, the Obsessors belt out witty licks with horror-pop banter. Hearing them rip it up onstage takes you back to when you bought that first wax disc and danced in your bedroom till Mom yelled at you to turn it down. Stick around for the Runs, Terezodu and the Muckrackers on this bill. -Ryan Osterbeck, Metro Newspaper vol. 22 ..36

THE OBSESSORS (pop punk)

I'd been to the Obsessors' previous show, a Rocksteady Lounge gig in October, and posted a review of it at http://www.bayareaska.com/SKAboard/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3613. I feel kinda bad about that review now, though, because I didn't have anything nice to say about vocalist Cobra Lily. She has such an Exene Cervenka thing going on, and let's just say that while I love X, Exene is my fourth-favorite member of that band. But Lily's growing on me now, like I thought she would. She showed up for the gig in retro-punky plaid pants, which I thought looked very cool. She won me over with her performance here, and at this rate I'll be asking her to marry me in another couple shows. The Obsessors play pop-punk with a Devo-esque New Wave streak, and their songs are uniformly great. I missed the start of the set, but I did get to hear a lot of my favorites from the last show, as well as something new, a cover of Devo's "Gates of Steel" that sounded unbefuckinglievable, faster and more muscular than the original. That one's another winner. The Obsessors are a tight musical machine, but they're spontaneous too, and fun. They deserve a much bigger following, and if there's any justice in the world they'll soon get it. ****
