Chris d'Adda, owner of Vale Studios in the Cotswold countryside, has renamed his studio 'Liberation Vale' in honour of the fact that he's mixing the Hiatus LP here. Or so we hear. Or so we imagine. Or so we would like to believe.

Insert joke about 'needing more cowbell' here.

On Thursday, December 10, we are playing a charity fundraiser for the Latin American Foundation for the Future at the Bedford in Balham, South London.

The charity works with young people in Peru, helping to fund shelter, education and care. For more about their work, please check out: http://www.laffcharity.org.uk/index.html

You can buy tickets for the event here (by making a donation to the charity):

It's going to be our last show in London this year, so hope you can all make it down for a great night at one of the city's finest music venues.

Tuesday saw the unveiling of Spencer Murphy’s masterful portrait of Smoke Feathers at the National Portrait Gallery. This and other lesser winners of the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Award are on display until February 14th 2010, and admission is free. Go before January 24th and you can also take in the awesome Beatles to Bowie exhibition, a collection of classic photographs of famous 60s musicians.

A portrait of the artist as a young(ish) man.

"You talkin' to me?"

A shot of Smoke Feathers huddling on the frozen surface of Bewl Water has won the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Award, and will be on display at the National Portrait Gallery from the 5th November to the 14th February 2010 (admission free).

The picture was taken by our close friend Spencer Murphy, a professional photographer who has snapped subjects as far flung as Gordon Brown and the Beastie Boys. To check more examples of Spencer’s work, click here. For an allegedly amusing insight into the shoot itself, click here.

Where there's smoke, there's ice.

To celebrate the possibility that a 25ft great white is prowling the Antipodean coastline my brother calls home, I'd like to draw attention to this majestic exercise in psychological suspense. Seldom has a movie captured the confusion of blind terror; the sense that the great white shark is, ultimately, the monster that lurks inside us all. Click here to witness the unthinkable.

Huge thanks to all who made it down to Madame Jojo’s last night – it was an important gig for us, and having such an awesome crowd turned something that should have been nerve racking into the most fun we’ve had in weeks. But what a seedy venue, eh? Soho at its most pink and provocative. Or perhaps that’s the Revue Bar, formerly the Raymond Revue Bar, where Cyrus spent his eighteenth birthday. A tale for another time, perhaps. Anyway, there’s a moral to this story, and I’m getting distracted. Err… oh yes, I remember. You’re all legends, and we love you.

We have just finished recording 12 tracks for an LP at the vintage Vale Studios with Chris D'Adda in Worcestershire. Split over two sessions, we recorded the following:

Liberation Theology
Light Over Me
Once Revolutionary
South America
We Will Maintain
Faint Heart
In You The Fire Burns
Living With The Wall
Islands In Her Eyes
Girl On The Corner
Thunder
DJ At The Weekend

Cyrus is going to be mixing these down in the next few weeks in his Brixton studio. Thanks to Chris and Moira for treating us so kindly during our stay. The studio is amazing.

Watch this space.
