Hey everyone -

I'm heading back to Nashville tomorrow for the Americana Music Conference and doing a few shows while I'm in town.
They're both on Saturday night (9/19), starting at 6:30pm over at Douglas Corner Cafe where I'll be playing as part of 6th Annual Americana Renegades AMA Week showcase.

Then, I'm heading over to The 5 Spot in East Nashville for the Gram Parsons Tribute Night, where I'll be playing some tunes, starting around 9:30pm.
I'll also be taping a radio session with "Big Kev" Ploghoft for his Motel Time Again series, so I'll keep you posted on when that will be available to hear. His previous guests have included Hayes Carll, Joe Ely, Carlene Carter, Anne McCue and Raul Malo, so I'm in good company!

If you're around, definitely come on by.

Hey there -

Thanks to everyone who came out to the July shows with Rosanne Cash and The Guggenheim Grotto. They were both fantastic nights.

I just got a new review as one of the Featured Artists of the Week from an excellent online magazine called The Alternate Root, which you can check out here:

http://thealternateroot.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=52&Itemid=106

or just read it below. They will also be doing a feature on me for the August issue, so check back in a few weeks.

See ya soon.

Joe

JOE WHYTE
Life is often a series of hurdles. Steeping around the land mines are those moments when you cross the line safely. The wins. Joe Whyte’s music is the audio equivalent of those personal successes. Everything lines up in his songs and the results come through as fully formed gems. Joe is a New York City based singer/songwriter. The landscape his music inhabits blends Americana, Alt Country, Folk, Rock and Country. His words are clear, his emotions evident.

‘Devil in the Details’, his most recent record, has been gaining ground since its release. Along the way the album has garnered awards such as an Americana Roots ‘best of’ and Joe has been the recipient of the ASCAPlus award, a songwriter grant, for the past four years.

If, as the title track suggest, ‘The Devil is in the Details’, there must have been the smell of sulphur in the recording studio. Crafting is key in these songs. The vocal delivery is honest, the storytelling clear and the words confessional. Surface level titles give away big clues but the heart of these songs beats in their deep messages. The tracks lead right into familiar experiences and lessons burned into the psyche with ease. ‘I love the tear stained sheets that you caused” (‘Linden to L.A.’).  “Come on, climb in., I’d love to have you trouble me again” (‘Just in Case’). “It’s not that I’m needy, it’s just that I need to know“ (‘Let Me Down’). Our free download, ‘This Foolish Heart’ showcases a nostalgic narrator desperate for times that were easier. Not all of us have gotten burned by the flame but I dare ya to tell me you have been a little singed. - Danny McCloskey, The Alternate Root

Hey everybody -

It's been a few weeks, but I'm gearing up for what is going to be a VERY busy month.

First up, tomorrow night I'm playing a benefit at Godfrey Daniels for Americana radio DJ, Torchy Blaine, who is battling Lyme Disease and needs all the help and support she can get. If you're anywhere near Bethlehem PA, PLEASE come by, or go to
http://www.myspace.com/torchystroubadours for more info.

After that, I head down to Nashville next week where I was picked to play in front of the historic Ryman Auditorium on the WSM Radio (home of the Grand Ole Opry) stage during CMA Fest, country music’s biggest festival, on June 12th. I also just added another show down there at The Listening Room on the 13th, playing with Larry Bagby.

Then, I head back up to these parts on June 19 for a show as part of The Wave Gathering in Asbury Park, NJ. This is a GREAT music festival which takes over the entire town for the weekend. There are some fantasic acts playing. You won't be dissapointed!

And finally, on June 24 I'll be back in NYC for a show at The National Underground with my friend, Alec Gross. If you missed us at The Scratcher last month, make sure to be at this one!!!

Oh, and as if that wasn't enough, I also got a gig opening for the incredible Rosanne Cash in July, at an amazing venue in Connecticut, Infinity Hall.

Well, that's all for now. Hope to see you on the road!!

Hey everyone -

What a week I had.

First, on Wednesday, I got a gig in Connecticut opening for the incredible Rosanne Cash in July, at what looks to be an amazing venue, Infinity Hall.
http://www.infinityhall.com/events/rosanne-cash

That was followed up on Friday by getting picked to play in front of the historic Ryman Auditorium on the WSM Radio (hope of the Grand Ole Opry) stage during CMA Fest, country music’s biggest festival, in June.

My head is still spinning from both of these incredible opportunities coming my way, so please wish me luck!
