Fixed it.  The files are improved.  Go listen.
Friday, August 07, 2009
Yo kids,

I've uploaded a sampling of the upcoming album "No Thanks To Hancock" on the page.  I had to convert the files to MP3 and the converter I use likes to interrupt by saying (in a sexy voice) avsomething or other demo.  Fuckers.  I'll fix that as I figure more shit out.  Hopefully in a day that won't be there.  I knew converting them was going too easy.

We have a bunch of new photos up too.  Go check those out.

The album drops September 19 and there will be a live show and release party at Central Station.  There's gonna be a punk show and Corporate T-Shirt is headlining.  The other bands haven't all been nailed in yet so if you have an idea or you're in a punk band, holler.

The day before we'll be one of the 20 acts at The Sharps Sessions.  We'll be playing around 8:00 PM and tearing a new hole into that festival.  We'll be presaling the album at the festival.

Speaking of presales, we'll be taking presale orders soon which means, give me ten dollars and I promise when the album comes out you'll get one.

As usual, thanks to Mr. Clayton Lawrence for making this dream come true.  He is the man and when this album is heard, every band in this region is going to want to use Shiny Brown Sound for their music.  There's really not a place better ANYWHERE.

I totally forgot to update the page until Kate reminded me.

We have a new bass player.  His name is Adam Smolonsky.  He was born in the Netherlands or Ghana...I get the two confused.  He most recently lived in Boston.  He plays the funkiest looking bass you've ever seen and he totally rocks.  Adam is a total ladies man...as you can't see the guy without no less than three woman crawling all over him which is why he goes by "Big Poppa Smalls".  Adam has also invented a cologne titled "Grizzled Hobo".  His other hobbies include emu nueturing and raising ferrets in his mom's bathtub.  He's yet to start the hobby of "friending the band he's in on myspace".

We've done a couple of gigs with him and he's redoing some bass on the album which has excited a couple of people.  You can check him out this week (if you can see through his throng of women) when we play Colonial Tavern this Thursday and the Grape on Friday.

Maybe you too can hop on and ride the Adam Train (if he hasn't quit the band by then after reading this blog).

That's right.  We're done recording.  Now we have to mix and master the thing, register songs with BMI, copyright shit, make some art, send it to the packaging people and start selling it.  Life is good but still hectic.

We want to thank EVERYONE who came out last night to help us with the last bit of recording.  THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.
How do you know if you're cool?  If Corporate T-Shirt invites you to scream on their album.

We're playing the Grape Friday.  Come out.  It will be fun.  There will be special guests.

Stay tuned for the new album.

Alright, kids....come out this Friday.  The Shirts are playing The Grape with our friends Raymond Arthur and Laid Out In Lavender (that's two acts, not one).  Show starts at 9:00 PM and it's 18+ and the cover is a measly $3.00.

The Album

It's been over a month since we started recording.  We're able to go in the studio two to three nights a week.  Mr. Lawrence has been generous with his time and wisdom and he's contributed some great ideas to songs already established in the band.

We have three more songs to lay a scratch (one we already did, but we need to do it over to capture the live feel), drums are done on everything else, bass is almost done and most of the guitar tracks are completed.

My amp was out of commission (bad timing) so we used a couple others, and now my amp is back so we can finish up guitar tracks.

We still need to do vocals.

We have a few mixes down but I don't really want to give them out to the public yet.  We will give you a song in a week or so, but I really want people to hear the album and each song in context with the other songs....ya know?  We're not just making a collection of songs.  We're telling a story and you will have to listen to each song to get the entire story.

Stay tuned, come out Friday.  Special things are on the way.

We wrapped up a few gigs and canceled everything else in April so we can focus on the album.  That's right, we're in the studio.

We're recording at Shiny Brown Sound which is owned by Clayton Lawrence.
We've spent about 12 hours on the project so far and we've done bass and drum tracks for four songs, drank a lot of beer, spilled some beer, ate some Tostitos and tried not to break any of the engineers equipment or step on one of his dogs.

We're psyched about the album and know it's going to sound great.  We have good songs, some of them have been practiced, and we have a great engineer.

We're keeping a journal of the sessions, which will make an interesting read for those unfortunate to actually get their hands on it.
We're also twittering from each session.
Clay's is http://twitter.com/clay335
Remo is http://twitter.com/pathetic2ocdp

This is a learning experience.  We also have to learn where to sell it online, downloads, where to send it for reviews, etc., etc.

Mohito H is helping us with the cover and artwork (we decided to give him that new name after he showed up at the studio all cranked up on Mohitos).

It's going to be an awesome album.  We'll let you know when it's out...and you will know because it's going to be loud.
Thanks to everyone who's been a help toward this.

Current mood:  gallant
Haven't blogged in a month, sorry.  Updates:  We rocked the Tavern then we rocked the Grape again.  Friday we're going to rock Central Station again.  After that we're gonna kinda lay off to focus on the recording.

The recording process starts now and expect an album very soon.  We plan to do this shit quick.  It's gonna be raw, live and energetic just like the shows.

We need to resolve the bass amp situation, get Clay's amp out of the shop again, find Remo some wheels and do something about the massive spider infestation in Clay's room.

See you Friday.

Thanks everyone who came to our show last Friday at Central Station.  It's always fun to play with new bands, like Trippline and Shinguh (I probably mispelled that again).  It was also fun playing with our band buddies, The Toxic Flamingos.  We really like the Flamingos which is why we play with them so much.

This Thursday we're invading Colonial Tavern.  The show will start around 10:00 with the Flamingos and Corporate T-Shirt will finish it off.

We haven't played the Tavern yet so let's bring all of our people (Hoola girls, shout out) and show them what insanity is.

We're busy.  Starting this week we're gonna have a gig for three weeks, and two of those are on stinking Thursdays!!!!
Here's what the schedule looks like.

Friday, March 6, we'll be at Central Station.  We're playing with Shinguh, Trippline and The Toxic Flamingos.  Cover's $5 for normal people and $10 for everyone between 18-20.  Show time is 9:00 PM and I don't know where we're playing in the list.

Thursday, March 12, we'll be at Colonial Tavern.  Show time starts at 10:00 PM and we're the only band playing.  It's gonna work like this, we'll play for an hour or and after people can stay and drink $1 PBR's.  The cover is a measly $3.00 and it's 21 UP.  Though we're the only band playing, there might be a surprise appearance by someone.

Thursday, March 19, we'll be back at The Grape and once again playing with Proof By Assertion and The Toxic Flamingos.  These Grape shows have turned into parties and they've been some of the most loose and fun shows I've ever worked with.  Everyone has a good time.  Show time is 9:00 PM and cover is $3.00.

Somewhere between and after that, Corporat T-Shirt's going in the studio.

Yo, Babies....

Thanks to everyone who came out to hear us at the Grape last Friday.  We had a miscommunication with Proof By Assertion so they didn't make the show, but we had a blast nonetheless.  We started late and did a performance which turned out to be our most intimate yet.  Everybody in the bar had a shot as we started our set, then we tore the house down.  Toxic Flamingos kicked major ass and provided sound so for that...big thank you.
We'll return to the Grape, SATURDAY, March 21, with Proof By Assertion and hopefully the Flamingos will be down with us as well.

Friday March 6 we're going to be at Central Station with our friends The Toxic Flamingos,  and two other bands we've never heard of before, Triplind and Fight The Bear.

I'm still waiting on Mike from Central to provide more info on that show, but it should be a great one.  I've played Central before, but not this band.  Let's hope the building's foundation is strong enough to support what the Shirts and our fans are going to do.
