Cheers from the D.M.U. Camp!!!

.. ..

Hey there fellow Metal Heads!!!!!

In our ongoing efforts to be of service and give you as much as possible… we have decided to start work on another D.M.U. CD!!!   Dudes and Dudets this is going to be killer….   We have so much material gathered, and F**K does it sound heavy!!  The guitar parts thus far are more meatier, heavier, more in your face.

.. ..

We will make this none the less a D.M.U. sounding album, but with something NEW!!  But you will have to wait….   We of course are open to ideas from our fans…    so go ahead and comment on what’s on your mind, and or what’s missing these days.

.. ..

D.M.U. will attempt to keep a video log of our progress and post it on YOUTUBE.  If you haven’t registered please do on our YOUTUBE page, that way you will hear and see everything that happens in our camp.

Peace and Respect

I couldn't have asked for a better band to end my reviewer hiatus with. Death Match Union reminded me of why I love our local scene here in BC, and helped me shake off that jaded shroud I have been carrying around for the last couple of months. I mean after hearing the same poorly played hard rock, metal crap over and over again a girl tends to get a little jaded and cynical. But, ah, the refreshing sound of well played and well performed music a la Death Match Union brought me back, and I am ever grateful. Thanks guys. Now on to the music!
These guys can be described in one word and that is 'committed'. I won't even say that the music is well written, but that it is well designed. Each chord that was struck, each note that was sung, and even each beat of the drum was specifically designed for the individual song that it was made for. The whole set was awesomely executed with just the right touch of showmanship, and in your face antics. There was no smoke in mirrors here my friends, just pure, real, unfiltered hardcore rock. What really stuck out to me was the creativity on bass, I mean you could tell that some of the songs were constructed around one perfectly fingered bass riff. I love when a bass player has the balls to take center stage rather than just keeping time in the background. Brett (2-Sticks) you have my big ole stamp of approval, you were truly energizing to watch and the music that you pulled off was intense and uber creative. Kudos dude. I really have to give you credit for contributing to your bands larger than life sound, if you listened to this band with your eyes closed you would never guess that all that sound was coming from just three musicians.
These guys are not just talented, but they're also memorable. Being memorable is one of the most important things in this scene, cause let's be honest, if I can't remember your set then I probably won't be back for the next one.
Machine tore it up on lead guitar and vocals. He was consistent through the whole set, with gritty vocals and amazing solos. This guy had his guitar screaming so high that I though my ears were going to bleed! Very awesome. He was creative, entertaining and made sure to show his appreciation to the few crowd members that made the dangerous journey to Envy on a Saturday night. Let's face it, Surrey is not the safest place to go on a Saturday night, unless of course you're wearing a bullet proof vest. I blame rap music!.... Anyways, enough about the downfall of society and back to the music.
Not only did I hear great new school guitar riffs, but I was also treated to some fantastic throwbacks to the old school sounds of our great hard rock legends. Always a treat for my musical taste buds. It's obvious why they call him 'Machine' as you watch him perform with an endless supply of energy and his almost mechanically perfect fingering of sweet solos. Very nice.
I think that the only place I found lacking when it came to performance and energy was behind the drum kit. I understand that it can be difficult to show a ton of energy when you're trying to keep time for the whole band and lay down some truly riveting beats, but come on dude, at least give us more than one tired facial expression!
Other than a few difficulties, these played amazingly and showed a true talent and passion for the art of music. Each song the played had it's own individual appeal and characteristics all the while staying true to one consistent sound. Some bands I've seen have tried giving individuality to each of their songs and failed miserably, with listeners getting more and more confused with each tempo change. Is it rock, is it punk, is it metal, is it pop....no one knows. But these guys get an A+ for consistency. Good on ya!
So to wrap this up I will say, thank you to DMU for giving me an excellent homecoming, and to the fans a great music all I can say is do yourself a favor and check em out! Not in a little bit, not after the game, not even after visiting your Grandma in the hospital, check them out right now!
Till next time my friends.....
