Hey folks. Here at The GO compound, we've been brewing up something tasty for a new decade of creative indulgence. 2009 will mark a departure from The GO and a reinvention, or rebirth into 2010 with "Conspiracy Of Owls." This doesn't mean that The GO will leave everybody high and dry... we've got plenty of archived material that NEEDS to see the light. That said, "Conspiracy Of Owls" is the new platform by which we will be launching our ideas. The debut, full length LP is currently being refined, or more like unrefined, and will be made available to you, on vinyl, in the spring. In the meantime, join the Conspiracy Of Owls... debut video and download: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdtxVs9vr7c myspace site: http://www.myspace.com/conspiracyofowls Adios! Current mood:  anxious
Sorry for the odd inconvenience, everybody. Here's a letter that I've just received:

Dear Bobby,

Hope you are great. The two vinyl distributors we are working with are called NuLoop and Juno. The first serves France, the second, the rest of the world.

Here are the direct links to the APRIL77RECORDS products:

April 77 Records (France)

Unfortunately, they have yet to receive THE GO shipment. We are hopeful that this will be in the very near future. As soon as it's up on the websites, we'll announce it on ours, and inform you as well.

Hi folks.

It's my pleasure to report that the scheduled armageddon has been postponed due to the American youth voting President Barack Obama into office. Well done! The war criminal formerly known as "Pres. Double-ya" has been handed his walking papers, and the threat of reducing the national IQ to an average of 65 is officially over.

Whew! 8 years of white knuckle, nail biting behind us! Unreal.

That said, I've been working on an interview with the French clothing designer April '77. They are now an internationally renowned record label as well. The GO has recorded 2 new songs for April '77!! Produced by yours truly of course!
These songs will be available for download and limited edition vinyl 45 rpm Sp import.
They've also designed a custom GO shirt with a strange, French riddle that only people who have been listening to France Gal and staring at Gustave Dore etchings for 40 years can understand.

Anyway, for those of you who are interested in my take on other dimensions, politics, ancient riddles, French films, and the music industry... read the interview when The GO becomes the featured band, in February.

Keep an eye on: http://www.april77records.com/

Pre oder your vinyl copy of the new GO single as well!! At last, we bid a fond farewell to the album 'Howl On The Haunted Beat You Ride' with the lost title track landing on the A side.
Flip the record and you'll discover/rediscover a song sung in French called 'Scenic Railway.'
This is one of Serge Gainsbourg's finest.

With fond regards always ~ Bobby Harlow

The Go's music to appear on the Starz network

Detroit rock group the Go can be heard on the Oct. 31 episode of the Starz Network series "Crash," starring Dennis Hopper. Listen for the songs "So Long Johnny" and "Howl on the Haunted Beat You Ride."

The same night, Oct. 31, the Go will celebrate the release of "Tracking the Trail of the Haunted Beat" with a show at the Magic Stick in Detroit. The Haunted Beat Band (featuring members of the Go and Dan Kroha), Magic Shop, Infinity People and Druid Perfume will also perform.

Haunted Redux

The Go
Tracking The Trail Of The Haunted Beat
Bellyache Records/Italy Records

Many will say that The Go have seen their ship sail. Some say they went the way of the high seas during the post-Free Electricity incident with Sub Pop, while others will point to the failure of the band's third album. These events were all supposedly the final nails in the proverbial coffin. Yet, like Jesus Christ … or Santa … this mythical entity has yet to breath its last breath.

Enter '07's Howl on the Haunted Beat You Ride. And if you needed more convincing, The Go impresses again with a redux version of the album, Tracking The Trail of the Haunted Beat. Apparently, it contains the original version of Haunted that was supposed to be released last year. Tracking shows that Bobby Harlow, the true perfectionist he is, wouldn't circulate the album without feeling it was as close to faultless as possible. The result:

"You Go Bangin' On"
John Krautner and Bobby Harlow taunt you with the fact that you can't write a song like they can. Reworking the original chorus of the first single of Howl, Krautner and Harlow are the kids that you couldn't catch while playing tag as a kid on the playground. It's just unfair.

"Our Love's Alive"
Taking the verses of "Caroline" from Howl, "Our Love's Alive" sees a revisiting of Bobby's nod to Ginsberg, but drops the namesake from the chorus all together. The lonely acoustic guitar and organ on the verses make the song much more melancholy.

"Kevin & Georgi"
The chorus reeks of Krautner's bubblegum love affair with its catchy "la-las" while Harlow tells the tale of the two lovers. Ultimately, although I love this track, I'm not sure if I would've left "So Long Johnny" on the cutting room floor.

"Ami"
Harlow is lonely as he reminisces about his love on the other side of the pond. It's sentimental and beautifully simple.

"Gimme Back My Love"
Remnants of "Love, And If We Try" from the Supercuts record are apparent in the melody of this Krautner-penned tune, but that only adds to the magic of this short blast of bubblegum pop. At a minute and 40 seconds, it's one of my favorite additions.

"Help You Out [Extended Version]"
Nearly twice the length of Howl's "Help You Out," the Tracking version sees the addition of a weird and extensive synth/guitar solo that propels the song into outer space. There's an old-school Free Electricity feel.

"Down In A Spiral/Jigsaw Man"
The first thing I heard about this record was that there was a near perfect ten-minute solo from Dan Kroha on this track. While it's no ten minutes, the truth is Kroha is on fire here. "Jigsaw Man" is truly a piece that was missing from the original Howl as it's spaced-out feel is something the Stones could've used on Their Satanic Majesties Request.

Would one hear these songs the same way if they hadn't heard the Howl version first? Who knows? I believe Tracking works best when looked at as a continuation of what The Go originally did with Howl ... and what is still yet to come. — ERIC ALLEN Real Detroit Weekly, Oct 21, 2008
