We're really stoked to announce a new addition to our dysfunctional family: The Reaganomics from Joliet, Illinios!  It's the guys from Ryan's Hope making some of the most fun, stupid, hilarious, and catchy punk rock we've heard in a long time.  Kind of reminds us of Toys That Kill meets Vindictives.

They banged out a 17-song debut called "Get Lost, Stay Lost" that we're releasing via all your favorite digital retailers (iTunes, Amazon, etc) and we STRONGLY recommend you check it out.  Crack a beer and laugh along with these bozos.

And if you really wanna enjoy Reaganomics, you have to see them live.  They kick off the 4th Annual Red Oktoberfest this Friday so come out and join the party!

"Fest" has become a four letter word, has it not?  Well, we're already 4 years into this shit, so it's too late now.  We put together a pretty kickass weekend full of good bands, good friends, and best of all: free stuff!  Here's the lineups, followed by a description of each night's festivities...

Friday, October 23rd at Beat Kitchen:

Off With Their Heads
The Copyrights
La Plebe (from SF)
Smalltown (from Sweden)
Reaganomics (members of Ryan's Hope)

Saturday, October 24th at Metro:
*The Lawrence Arms 10th Anniversary Show*

The Lawrence Arms
The Menzingers
La Plebe
Mike Park

Sunday, October 25th at Beat Kitchen:
*The Lawrence Arms 10th Birthday Party*

The Emergency Room (Dan Andriano of Alkaline Trio)
The Sidekicks
Mike Park

Friday at Beat Kitchen: What're Off With Their Heads and Smalltown doing on this show, you ask?  Well, they're great bands, asshole!  They also have contributed songs to our Swingin' Utters tribute, so there!

Saturday at Metro: The Lawrence Arms are playing their 10th anniversary show and will be joined by some Red Scare faves: The Menzingers and La Plebe!  The Arms are also giving out 100 copies of a limited pressing 7" that night, but I'm sure you'll hear more about that from them.  Or will you?

Sunday at Beat Kitchen: It's a birthday party for The Lawrence Arms and you're invited!  Well, not all of you because this is going to be kind of a smallish affair.  Headlining will be The Emergency Room, which is Dan Andriano's new "thang".  Yes, he's playing Alkaline Trio songs, okay?!?!  Sheesh.  Tix will be on sale for that soon.

Sometimes the business of releasing music and helping underground bands has its ups and downs. It comes with the territory and at the end of the day we all try and do our best, ya know? But today is one of those days that make it all worth it. No shit. Red Scare Industries is proud to announce that as of today we are bringing you the entire catalog of Seattle's favorite pop-punkers: Sicko!

Some of you youngsters may be not be familiar with them, so let me bring you up to speed. Punk rock in the 90's was pretty much dominated by the So-Cal sound. You know, the aggressive skate-punk stuff. But there was a small group of bands like Mr. T Experience, Jawbreaker, and J Church that were doing something a little different and more insightful with their punk rock. Sicko is one of those bands, and they were a HUGE favorite of mine as they were from my home state of Washington.

People were paying insane amounts of money for their outta print CDs, so we figured we'd do our part and bring you their entire catalog via the wonders of digital distro. I highly recommend you check out these records, Sicko was a super catchy, super fun band and I will always remember them fondly. In a strange coincidence, today is my birthday, and I can't think of a better gift to myself and to the rest of the punk community than to bring some of this music back into the light. All four full lengths: “You Can Feel The Love In This Room”, “Laugh While You Can Monkey Boy”, “Chef Boy-R-U-Dum”, and “You Are Not The Boss Of Me!”.

In another strange twist, MySpace refuses to allow Red Scare or the band to post any of their songs at present! We're working on getting some of their music up for you to sample, but who knew that Sicko was a threat to Rupert Murdoch? All the more reason to love these guys. We'll have some music up soon, but for now I suggest you head over to iTunes or Amazon and check out some Sicko.

America's most hated punk label is finally about to launch their first "package tour".  That's right, we've made the big-time: It's the Red Scare Summer Tour!  This month-long odyssey will take Red Scare's horniest bands all across the land and into your dark hearts.  Bands like Cobra Skulls, Copyrights, the Sidekicks, the Menzingers, and even occasional guest appearances from bands like Druglords of the Avenues and the Methadones.  It's the finest bunch of god-hating goofs ever assembled.  All the bands have new releases, so please check out the dates, get out to a show, and dance like a buffoon.  I would mention something about bringing them Weed but there's probably laws against that.

Big thanks to our pals at Interpunk for being so supportive of the label and this tour.  Click here to see a flyer from the tour.

And click here to see the tour dates!

See you scrotes at the show!

Hey comrades, good day to you all!  I can only assume that you're all fighting the good fight, keepin' it real, sticking it to the man, and so on.  Today is a huge day for us because we have new music to share.  That's really the point of all this, right?

You oughtta know by now that Cobra Skulls are a huge part of the Red Scare family and we're so proud of what they're doing with their music and their message.  So today we post a brand new song from their upcoming record, "American Rubicon".  Listen to it and you'll know why we think so highly of 'em.  You may also notice that they are taking part in our first ever "Red Scare Tour" this Summer, and we'll have more on that soon!  For now, enjoy the song.  To pre-order "American Rubicon click here

And on an entirely different note, we bring you a song by The Isotopes from Vancouver, BC.  It's hilarious, upbeat, and catchy baseball-themed pop-punk.  Like the Hanson Brothers...but for Americans!  They released the "Heatseeker EP" on their own and we are welcoming them to the Red Scare family by distributing this EP on iTunes and other digital retailers.  I know Red Scare is known for being a buncha godless commies but even WE like fun times and baseball.  We're pretty sure you'll enjoy this stuff too, so scamper over to iTunes and check out this EP.  We'll leave the baseball puns to them, they're way better at it.

Reno's favorite sons are ramping up for the release of their next full length, "American Rubicon", which comes out online July 7th and is in stores July 14th.  We are seriously balls-deep in Cobra Skulls right now, because not only do they have new music to check out, they are about to embark on the Old Skars and Upstarts Tour with Anti-Nowhere League.  Sounds terrifying, doesn't it?

First things first though; you need to mosey over to their page and check out their new tune, "HDUI".  The song's a true story about Cobra Skulls frontman Devin being approached by an Iraq War Vet who got out of the military by intentionally getting a DUI whilst cruising around in the Iraqi desert.  Good fuckin' times:

You can already pre-order the album from our friends at Interpunk, and the good people at Punknews are currently running a feature about the upcoming record, so if you wanna know everything there is to know about about this wondrous new full length, start here:

That's it for now.  If you want even more ridiculous updates on Cobra Skulls and other Red Scare happenings, you can always do the unthinkable and go here:

Hey folks, there's some big news to announce in terms of how we get our CDs and LPs out to the world.  As you know, it's getting harder to share physical music with the rest of the world, especially for a small independent label like Red Scare.  And that's before you even consider our laziness and rampant alcoholism... well, we're proud to announce our involvement in the Independent Label Collective.  It's just that: and independent collective of cool labels like Asian Man, Beer City, Chunksaah, and many more.  It's pretty exciting for us to be involved with such an intrepid project, and we encourage all you independent entities out there, retailers or otherwise, to check it out and get on board.  Read what Alternative Press had to say about it.

And from the totally cool and constructive to the incredibly lame and undignified... you can now follow Red Scare on Twitter!  That's right, we have all new ways for you to squander your soul.  if you wanna read about my job with the Chicago Cubs or hear about the boring-ass legwork involved in putting out records, well, we have a special place for you:

Hopefully my family never comes across this shit.

Hola friends!

Ya see that?  That was my tribute to the goodly Spanish-speaking people of the world on this Cinco de Mayo.  Not too bad, not too bad...

May 5th (T-t-t-today, Junior!) also marks the arrival of the Menzingers new EP, "Hold On, Dodge".  I know, we've been talking this thing up forever, but now you can actually buy the fuckin' music from iTunes, Amazon, etc.  The digital version also comes with a bonus track too, which should annoy ths shit out of those vinyl folks.  But if you ARE one of the aforementioned vinyl goofs, the 7" should be available very soon and retailers are taking pre-orders now.  Look for it at Interpunk, Hot Topic, Vinyl Collective, or buy it from the band at shows.

Lastly, the band has also posted a second song from the EP, "Lilith Avi", so go check that out along with the dates from their upcoming tour with Broadway Calls that kicks off any day now.  Please have a look-see:

Oh, and we have a Red Scare Summer Tour in the works.  Looks like Cobra Skulls, Copyrights, The Sidekicks, Menzingers, and more.  Workin' on it!

Tuesday, April 14, 2009

Hey sportsfans, how're things?  Turns out Matt from Sidekicks and Greg from The Menzingers both turn 21 this week.  You're probably thinking that's all the news you can take for now, but naw dawg, we got more!  Big news too...

We start with The Menzingers from Philadelphia.  One of our most beloved additions to Red Scare.  When we first decided to team up with these kids we had no idea what great material they had in store for us.  No bullshit, this new EP of theirs really exceeded any and all expectations and we're pretty sure that a real label is gonna snatch them up after this latest batch of songs.  Their upcoming EP, Hold On, Dodge, comes out in May and will be followed by lots of touring.  They have a new song available and you can hear it for yourself over here:

http://www.myspace.com/themenzingers

Also new, is a rare live album from our old pals Teenage Bottlerocket.  They did a vinyl-only release of a live set and called 'er Live In '06 and we did the world a favor and convinced them to release a digital version of this highly-coveted LP.  Who doesn't love a TBR live show?  Communists, that's who!  And we at Red Scare have made this rare album available online via iTunes, Amazon, etc, so thank us later.

Last but not least, Cobra Skulls and Sidekicks are finishing up new records as we speak.  We're also working on a proper Red Scare tour for this Summer.  Chuuch!
