The record labels are pushing a bill that would levy a Performance tax on the music local radio plays. That means radio stations will inevitably play less music and stop taking chances on unknown artists.
This tax was imposed on stations that broadcast on the internet, causing many terrestrial radio and internet stations to discontinue their broadcast via the internet.
If this passes, small market radio, independent artists, labels, publishers, writers may all go out of business.
Please call your congressman and tell them to vote no on HB 848. And call your senator and tell them to vote yes on S. Con. Res. 14. You can call (202) 224-3121.
