Hey Everyone,
We are looking for volunteers for each show on the tour to help out Garaj Mahal with the merch booth. You will be in charge of selling shirts and other merchandise throughout the night. We would be able to give you a free ticket to the show, 10% of whatever you sell that night, and a free t-shirt for your work.
If you are interested, please reply to: JEFF@FANMANAGER.NET with your Full Name, Phone Number, and What Show You Want To Help With (Dates Listed Below). Also please indicate that this is for the Garaj Mahal Merch Booth. This will be on a first come first serve basis, so if you don't hear back from us in a few days it means we have already found someone for that show.

Owl Studios Artist Fareed Haque Navigating the Airwaves
INDIANAPOLIS,
July 26th, 2009 – Each week jazz record label Owl Studios, along with
each and every other jazz record label in the country, gets a report
that ranks the top 50 jazz albums played on the radio the previous
week. For a smaller label like Owl Studios, just getting on the charts
can be a reward in itself. But Owl Studios prides itself in signing
only the best jazz artists and it is paying off. Owl Studios, which
only releases about 7 albums a year, currently has 3 albums in the top
50 Jazz Week Jazz Album charts being played on radio stations around
the country and one of those albums is #1 on the Jazz Week World Music
Albums Chart. That album is Flat Planet by Fareed Haque and the Flat
Earth Ensemble.
Flat Planet has been in the top 50 World Music
Albums for the past 18 weeks and has been played on 99 different
stations around the country. Music from this album has been used for
NPR’s Morning Edition, various locally produced jazz shows in Chicago,
IL, Cleveland OH, Detroit MI, Fresno CA and Victoria BC and an
interview with Fareed on PRI’s The World with anchor Marco Werman.
Fareed has been featured on the ASCAP Artist Audio Portraits, which can
be found on the ASCAP website.
No less than 8 different tracks
have been played from this album all over North America. From Toronto,
Canada to Corpus Cristi, Texas and New York, NY to San Fransico CA,
people have enjoyed the music created by Fareed Haque and released by
Owl Studios in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Fareed Haque spent years
on the road as a sideman with many of the finest artists, playing with
the likes of Joe Zawinul, Dave Holland, Paquito D'Rivera, Zakir Hussain
and Sting to name just a few. He has written numerous concerti, plays
classical guitar and jazz guitar with equal facility, and is professor
of Jazz and Classical Guitar at Northern Illinois University. In
addition to his Flat Earth Ensemble, Fareed is the co-founder of the
super-jam Group Garaj Mahal and is currently touring with both groups
throughout the year.
About Owl Studios - Indianapolis-based Owl
Studios is an independent record label dedicated to a financial and
artistic partnership with highly creative, talented musicians. In the
short time since its inception, Owl Studios has become a
well-respected, artist- friendly, independent record label in the
genres of Jazz, R&B/Soul, and Fusion/Jam Band. The label includes
established artists that have made names for themselves performing
throughout the world. In addition to their reputations as composers,
performers and arrangers, many of our artists are also educators at top
music institutions. Owl Studios artists also boast award winners,
including a Grammy nomination; jazz historian/ arranger/ conductor for
the Smithsonian Institute; winner of the Independent Music Awards;
winner of the National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Performer Award;
winner of the Grand Prize for the American Pianists’ Association Jazz
Piano competition; and the music director for the award- winning,
nationally syndicated Bob & Tom morning radio program.
