My fingers are freezing, so let's keep this quick(ish)...

First up, if anyone caught last night's Tuesday Night Diner, you might
have heard Mike Lidskin mention that it was snowing in certain parts
of California! Weird weather indeed... I thought we had one place on
earth that was populated by Recharged people where the sun always
shone! Obviously not...!

Nevermind though. If you missed that show, you'll be able to catch it
on the Recharged Radio player very soon.

Over to the rest of this week now...
Tonight, 8-10pm - The Justin Wayne Show. A Yank that's slightly more
used to snow, being from Minnesota n all, Justin will be playing all
the stuff he thinks is good (as is his want). Jump in the chatroom at
8pm to discuss what he's doing at length but you'll have to email for
requests as tonight's show was recorded a few days ago, the man
himself helping out with a Christmas production of Hairspray (or beard-
spray in JW's case). justin@rechargedradio.com

Tomorrow, 7-8pm - Night Of The Artisans, with Pete Robbins - Yup, it's
that time of the month once again, where Pete drops by and does his
show. If you want a nice, happy, gentle acoustic hour with Pete and
all the people he reckons are good right now, listen in. Ideal to
listen to with a cup of tea, in fact. studio@rechargedradio.com

Friday, 7-9pm - The Friday Forum, with me and assorted members of
Recharged Radio - Of course, if you want something that involves live
sessions, interviews, random people with scary CVs and, of course,
Silent Dave, then tune in to this. This week, we have an interview and
session with Laura Catlow, Kitty and the Canopeners will be popping
for a chat in as they're in town, PR gurus Tony and Denise from
Manilla PR will be in the box and also (for some reason) Steve Honest
has managed to come back for a second week running. All this, plus the
music (Alex assures me there may be a few more Christmas tracks...).
studio@rechargedradio.com

However, if you're reading this thinking 'But it's Christmas (almost)!
I want to go out, not listen to the bloody radio!' then may I
recommend The Scratch's Christmas Party, at The Horn in St Albans
which is also taking place this Friday. The beer is cheap and the
train station is over the road. You're allowed not to listen if you go
to this. It's the rules.

Don't forget (and I run on about this every week so you should know by
now!), Music Unleashed Top 40 is at 5pm on Sunday, followed by Rob
One's 20-20 Hip-Hop show at 7pm (which reminds me, he's sent me a
track that I need to listen to!).
Finally - and staying on the whole gig thing - send your gigs in for
us to include in our gig list. Also, if you have any news about your
band, send that in too and Minki will include it in her mid-show round
up on Friday. Or else we'll make things up. Probably.
Hmm, fingers are a bit warmer now...
Speak later!

Man that was hard this week. Need some wit pills. Daaaaave...!
Tuesday, December 01, 2009
Or is that supposed to be from the 7th? Oh who cares, get the
chocolate out of the back of your child's advent calendar (if you
can't find a child to upset, borrow one).

Speaking of which, over at RechargedRadio.com, you'll find our own
take on the yuletide process. Yes, we have an advent calendar (and
snow) with a band from the RR playlist behind each window! Check back
every day to find out which band is behind the day's window! A note to
the selection process though, before we get accused of nepotism; we
had 24 days and many more bands to pick from. So, we made it fair and
each suggested five bands each, stuck them in a hat and made the
process random. Don't email back and say 'oh, so who did you suggest
Jord?' because I'm not saying...! So there. *sticks out tongue*. A big
50ft hand goes to Minki for doing the legwork. Tar, Mink.

Now, because this email is early this week, I can write about a few
things in small detail before rushing off to the week's schedule. So,
before you scroll down, read on...
- Projekt have released Ocean Passage today. Yey. More info soon to be
found here! Tourdates.co.uk/projekt (where you can listen to the song
in question in full - none of this 30 second sample crap...)

- The Scratch have just released a video for Teen Idol. Double Yey.
Can be found here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvuBlsPaVVs

- Fearless Vampire Killers played a blinder of a gig last night at
their launch party for their new single 'I am Gonna Leave You'. Also
on the bill were Zebedy Rays and The Furbelows (who were blighted by
terrible sound.. go cheer them up at tourdates.co.uk/the-furbelows).
Anyway, FVK really made the night their own so well done to them!
tourdates.co.uk/fearless-vampire-killers. Triple yey with cheese.

Now, the schedule:

Tonight 8-10pm - Tuesday Night Diner (aka, The Friday Forum for kids)
with Mike and the...er..Waitress. It's an American version of what we
do but not like Justin Wayne (cos he says 'mum' these days) but good
nonetheless. Tune in. Or else. mike@rechargedradio.com

Tomorrow 8-10pm - The Justin Wayne Show, with Justin Wayne
(predictably). Lord knows what he'll be playing but expect someone to
be loitering on Skype while he does it - there usually is. Again, an
entertaining listen...!
justinw@rechargedradio.com

Thursday, 7-9pm - TBC. The reason I say this is that it's not
confirmed yet. Check the website for service bulletins. Or something.
Friday, 7-9pm - The Friday Forum, with me and some RR staff (probably
Dave, Al and Minki). Also joining us will be Wyld, Andrew from Fake
Teak and...the other one from Fake Teak who I've met once and who
looks a little like a smaller version of Tony from Jespa. Nice chap
tho. Anyway, they'll be along, along with Karim Fanous and a special
guest. Find out who on Friday! Final note to this show, this will be
the final new subs show for 2009 so tune in! Studio@rechargedradio.com

Saturday - Nowt.

Sunday, 5-7pm - The Music Unleashed Top 40. Unleashing music.
Independent style. chartshow@tourdates.co.uk
7-8pm - 20-20 with Rob One. I've heard a rumour somewhere in the mill
that Rob will be hosting his own mini awards show soon - maybe this
could be it? At least he'll be talking about it, so if you're into
your Hip-Hop, listen in and find out how to nominate!
rob@rechargedradio.com

As ever, keep us up to date with your gigs and news! Demand we read
them out, instead of wittering about nothing when we should be doing
music stuff. Keep us honest - studio@rechargedradio.com
And now, I'm done.

See ya later, amphibian!

myspace.com/rechargedradio - Children Playing

and in the next thrilling mailout, we'll be talking about Easter!
Thursday, November 26, 2009
Hello,

Yes, Good Lord. It's Almost Crimbo. Seems like only other day I was
writing one of these, doesn't time fly, seems to come earlier every
year but everything is left to the last minute and we're not doing
presents this year as no-one wants anything really, oh no, you
shouldn't have - no, really, you shouldn't. I didn't. Bugger.
Right, now that all that malarkey is out of the way, time to talk
Recharged!

The more observant of you might have noticed that we seem to have alot
more shows here on RR of late and you'd have been right! Lots of new
stuff happening here - as well as all the music - and will continue to
happen right the way into the new year. Lots of new regular weekly and
monthly shows, so make sure you're keeping an eye on
rechargedradio.com for what's going on on which night of the week.
There's usually something fun going on - we have real live Americans
broadcasting for us two days a week now!

But back to these shores, what be going on tomorrow, Saturday and
Sunday? Pray, tell...

Friday, 7-9pm - The Friday Forum, Featuring Hotbeds and the Pick Of
The Month thingy. We've got some Field, Serpentfly, Fearless Vampire
Killers' new single, OK and Jarmean? (who we saw at the popular Cirque
De Creme Anglaise last week after the show) to name but a few!
Studio@rechargedradio.com

Saturday, 8-9pm  - Andy Quirk presents Hits Of The Near Future.
Formerly at Catch-22 in Haggerston (not Shoreditch - I have proof!),
this is the new radio version of the old live show. It's quite fun.
Also, he might feature Hotbeds. Maybe. studio@rechargedradio.com

Sunday, 5-7pm - The Music Unleashed Top 40 - More interesting than
other slightly more predictable charts are these days. Murray also
makes a return this week. Get in touch with the show -
chartshow@tourdates.co.uk

Sunday, 7-8pm - The 20-20 Hip-Hop show, with Rob One (cos there only
is one Rob One). Rob, as usual, finds the best underground music from
the streets... something seems wrong with that sentence... not sure
how. Anyway, tune in! rob@rechargedradio.com

Finally, a mention needs to go to the Tourdates Musician's Clinic,
which takes place at The Hawley Arms once a month. The final clinic
before Christmas was held on Monday this week and was a huge success,
as it has been for all of 2009. If you were involved in any way (on
the panel, or a band/artist who came along) then thank you very much
for your support. Here's to more good events in 2010 and to the people
who gave me CDs on Monday (again, you know who you are!) I have them
here safe.

I think that's me done for this week!

After months of planning, plotting, and procrastinating, Chef Mike finally debuts on Recharged Radio! His show is called Tuesday Night Diner, and strangely enough, it airs on, ahem, Tuesday nights from 8:00-10:00 p.m.

Chef Mike comes to us all the way from Sacramento, California, USA, and serves up two hours of some of the finest indie music from both sides of the Atlantic! A longtime Sacramento radio personality, he was invited to join the staff at Recharged after flattering the right person!

Also--feel free to email requests, and he`ll see if he can cook them up for you next week (if it`s something like what you hear on the show). Just drop a line to: mike at rechargedradio dot com. Feedback--all kinds--is appreciated!

Thanks so much, and we hope you'll check it out!

There, I`ve done it. I wrote this whole thing in the third person. Whew, that`s pretty tiring, pretending to be someone else. All that fake objectivity. I just hope you like the show!
Friday, November 13, 2009
Morning,
It's one of those days that you just want to not leave the house
today. I honestly feel that people should be banned from doing
anything on days such as these. No-one ever goes home happy.

Of course, if you do feel the need to crawl off this evening and drown
your sorrows in tea and endless repeats of Scrubs, then you have an
alternative! Hooray! See below for the schedule...

Tonight, 7-9pm - The Friday Forum, with RR regular Rob Batley! It's
our second new subs show of the month, so come hear us giving opinions
on things we don't comprehend and/or understand (like quantum
destabilisation, though I'm sure Andrew Wyld off of Fake Teak will set
us right on that subject. He evidently understands things beyond the
average person's comprehension). Join in the fun in the chat room -
last one left gets an open invite to the pub!  In addition to all of
this, we'll be seeing what Rob is up to lately and catching up with a
few members of the RR team who have wandered in from the cold.

Saturday - Nowt. Though if you're in Chichester, nip down to see Last
Days Of Lorca playing at The Hope.

Sunday, 5-7pm - The Music Unleashed Top 40. If anyone caught last
week's Friday Forum (now on the player at rechargedradio.com) then you
would have heard Andy from The Scratch (current no.1 with Teen Idol)
say something along the lines of 'if this drifts off the top spot,
we're stopping the free download'. So, he's thrown
down...the...something... and will Teen Idol be no.1 this week? Or
will it be usurped by a pretender to their throne, in which case The
Scratch will leave the country (probably)? Find out this week. Of
course, if you're sick of hearing Teen Idol, go download something you
do like - for free - over at Tourdates.co.uk.
and finally...

7-8pm - Rob One's 20-20 Hip Hop Extravaganza (fo' shizzle). Always a
fun way to end a Sunday evening and has been described as a 'thinking
man's Kiss FM'. Oo Er... Mail rob - rob@rechargedradio.com
All of this, all available from rechargedradio.com and tourdates.co.uk
for free!

Before I bugger off though, final mention must go to Justin 'I am not
actually from the Klondike' Wayne, who has been working very hard here
at RR doing his show, so in return I won't remove the proverbial
Michael from him this week.

And very finally, Dave and Al graduated this week. They are now fully
qualified humans. Go them.
Speak to you at 7!

Yes, it is the one and only Recharged Radio Mailout...

Piss-poor, done to death jokes aside, it's time to talk music.

Well, one bad as it happens - The Scratch. If you don't know of 'Teen
Idol' by now, then you are a fool and have probably been living under
a rock (or maybe just not listening to us, if so, for shame). This
track will only be available as a free download for a limited time
only, so go get your mrubby gitts on a copy over tourdates.co.uk/the-
scratch. After this buckshee period is done (i.e., when Andy says 'no
more'), the track will only be available on their new album 'Whatever
Happened To A Friday Night', which you can get at thescratch.co.uk.
Finally, in Scratchy news, they will be playing at 333 Motherbar on
Friday. If you can't make it, listen to Andy sound all cool n stuff on
the Friday Forum beforehand. More on that later.

From one band to a whole bunch of bands, if you didn't catch the
Sinjitos Records Special show last week, it's on the player at
rechargedradio.com. I'm sure that there is something for everyone in
that show, so go have a listen. Also, in a small insight into how we
work here, we had planned to broadcast the show live but then make it
available mainly as a podcast so we weren't expecting a whole raft of
people to come along and listen live (especially not people from
Indonesia at 3am!) - we were rather chuffed by that!

Back to the present now, tonight sees Wayne, Justin broadcasting his
show from 8-10pm. I was going to give a brief overview of what he's
going to be up to but he's written a veritable essay on
rechargedradio.com's main page so if you want to go look through that,
it's there. As usual he's playing good bands and taking the piss out
of me. Thin ice, Wayne...

Tomorrow is Isabella Scarlet's show, where she does a radio version of
what goes on at her night at the Hawley Arms on the first Monday of
the month. I don't expect her to have Winehouse in tow but I do expect
her to have some good bands to bring along, so listen in at 7pm. More
information about her night can be found out here -
apocalypstick.co.uk. (Tony, off of Jespa, make a note in your
diary!!).

Friday at 7pm is The New Subs edition of The Friday Forum. As I've
been writing this email, I've had a message from oor Alex, saying 'Why-
aye, we've gor sur many propah bands, like, I divvent kna where ther
url gunna gar!' to which I said, 'How about we do two new subs shows,
this Friday and next?' and he said 'Canny, like!' so that's what we're
going to do. Half this week, half next week. Also this friday, we have
missdavinalee along and Andy off of The Scratch. Listen in from 7-9pm

Weekend programming this Sunday at 5pm (man, fingers getting tired
now!) sees the Music Unleashed Top 40, with myself and Murray and then
straight after that Rob One with the 20-20 hip-hop show. Apparently,
it's going to be dope (if you don't like hip-hop, or stuff of that
ilk, listen anyway - Rob is a very entertaining presenter so you can't
help but not like the show!).

Finally, we've had a small heap of submissions through our dropbox
which is great! However, what's not great is that while we know what
the songs are called, we're a bit stumped by what the band/artist name
is... If you do fancy sending your stuff to us (I mean, why wouldn't
you..) then make sure you include your band's name on the track itself
or else we'll get Dave to make one up. You have been warned!!

I think that's it.

Drive music, don't control it..!

Hey!

Having waved Alex off, as he slowly chugged out of the station back to
the land of playlist duties, I returned to my usual seat on the
mailout writing desk.

Must say though, well done to Alex for his spooky premonition that
Cheryl Cole would be number one this week. Coming up to Halloween I
would expect nothing less than spooky goings on... but speaking of
number ones, well done to The Scratch for getting 'Teen Idol' to
number one in the Music Unleashed Top 40 this week. If you haven't got
yourself a copy yet (for shame!) then you can download it buckshee
over at tourdates.co.uk/the-scratch.

Now for more spooky goings on... The Lovely Eggs will be joining us
this Friday! "Hooray!" I hear you cry, as they wander in through the
door on their Lovely Eggs' legs (reminds me of an eggcup I had when I
was a child). We'll be doing an end of the month special show this
week, which will be a round up of all the things we think/thought rock
(ed) this month. 7-9pm, rechargedradio.com. Samara Kain is coming
along and the Recharged Team might dress up. I'm not.

So that's Friday - what's going on Wednesday on the Justin Wayne show?

Let me check the website... Nope, he hasn't decided what he's doing
from 8-10pm this week yet. I can imagine it might feature Field,
Sierra Alpha and some American bands he likes. There may be murder, Go
prove me wrong/right at rechargedradio.com on Wednesday.

And Thursday? Well, Alex is doing a special, never to be repeated* one
hour show showcasing the Far Eastern talent we seem to have stumbled
upon. Come listen from 7-8pm (at reachargedradio.com... yawn) on
Thursday as interesting it will be. Alex has promised. We're going up
the Wilmington Arms after this, so if anyone fancies coming along too,
you're more than welcome. Full line up here - feedyourheadmusic.com
(while you're there, say hi to Chris).

For all updates, full schedule and Dave (who's just gone to work in
the Apple Store on Regent St, so ask him if you can't figure out your
mac that you bought just 'cos it was shiny) keep an eye on
rechargedradio.com's news postings.

Finally, I can't do my witty links descriptions any more 'cos that's
all pre-set by Justin.

Waaaaaayyyynnnneeeee!!!!!!! (Think 'Khhaaaaaannnnnnn!!!' - those of
you who are nerdy enough will get that joke).

MN2BDNC

Jord

PS - MUT40 and 20-20 will be discussed on the website later this week!
I'm not being forgetful, just... strategic.

Evening people,

What’s gwarning? (that’s “how’s it going” if you ain’t down with the cool people, like us).
Slight change to this week’s mailout:
a) it’s written by me (Alex) and b) I’ll try not to complain about the weather, or make it weather related!

So, this week I’ve had thousands upon thousands of emails asking me “Alex, what’s new with Recharged Radio?”, so to answer all your questions, here’s what’s going on...

Well for a start if you are a fan of 50ft Woman on the old bookface you will now know that the long awaited EP “Tall Stories” is now available from itoons and to make your life easier here is a link: http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?id=335163286&s=14344450ft

Also a band you may have heard played on the Friday shows many a time is the Kabeedies. I saw them play on Monday and literally by the sounds of it their debut album “Rumpus” is also definitely worth purchasing!

Talking of gigs, if you’re in Landan tonight and fancy going to a gig then head to The Legion for Lord Auch’s (them off of “Maredo” fame) EP release gig! Kick off is at 8pm, and it’s free so no excuses!

The Tourdates Sessions is tomorrow night at 8pm! It’s now at The Black Heart, Camden (previously The Tup).

The night is presented by Turning Worm, and The Tourdates Sessions give you a chance to check out some of the best bands to be found from the within the Tourdates community.

This month there is Shiva, with support from Catherine Tran (go to the RR myspace page to hear a track Catherine performed for us a few weeks back) and Rosi Croom.

Anyway to keep you clued up with the best in new music, here are this week’s shows:

Tonight at 8pm – The Justin Wayne Show! In the words of Justin himself: “It..s packed with great tunes, my Field exclusive which is still a JW Show exclusive as well as some Sierra Alpha for reasons you..ll hear on the night, and marking an important revival. The Spot with Bobby Scotch is back and if you don..t know what that is - just head to my website and you..ll find it under the "segments" tab. It..s awesome and I..m very excited to welcome Bobby Scotch back to his rightful place among the airwaves.”

Moving on to…

Friday at 7pm – The Friday Forum! Special guests will be Karim Fanous and Lana! There will also be some rad choons and sick beats, plus polite and informative conversation!

And then…

Sunday at 5pm – Music Unleashed Top 40! We all know Cheryl’s gonna be this week’s number 1, so check this out instead! Go on, we dare you!

And after…

At 8pm – 20/20 Hip-Hop Show! Rob provides the hip-hop soundtrack to Antiques Roadshow!

And after that just chill … to the next episode!

Alex.

Wednesday, October 14, 2009
Hey,

The reason why this might not be fun is that I'm not in a very fun mood, so the tone of this might come across as a little bit cynical (who, me...?). I would also like it to be known that I haven't had enough coffee today. One pot is never enough.

First up, our very own pet 50ft Woman has put her track Glycerine Machine up for download. You can get it over at tourdates.co.uk/50ft-woman. Yes, you too can own a little bit of Recharged Radio and display it on your i-pod for all to see. Download now! There's also free downloading all week plus a great somethingorother for the kids... etc etc.

Secondly, 8pm tonight is Justin "Murderer From The Klondike" Wayne time. He'll be sharing his beard with you, along with a new track (exclusive! Ooh!) from Field (who celebrated his birthday this week) and some band called Lights Out Dancing who I've never heard or heard of but he's cock-a-hoop about them so they must be good (probably). Make your own minds up, tonight at 8, only on Rechargedradio(.com).

Thirdly, there's sod all happening tomorrow. Moving on...

Fourthly, The Friday Forum this week features Projekt North in session, along with the return of Roland Monger, who liked being my studio bitch so much last time, he's volunteered to do it again. Alex gets another week in his beloved Newcastle and Minki gets her sentences cut short by me, much to her annoyance. All of this takes place this Friday at 7, only on rechargedradio(.com).

Fifthly - nothing happening Saturday. I might have a lie in though.

Sixthly - On Sunday at 5pm we have the Murray-less Music Unleashed Top 40 and then after that at 8, we have The Rob One Hip-Hop Hour of Haddock Filleting and Hip-Hop. Oh and Rob can actually rap. We found this out in The Ship last week after the Forum.

And sevethly, in future news, The Lovely Eggs have released some slightly mad (in a nice way, not a Justin "Murderer From The Klondike" Wayne way) haloween tracks. They'll be nipping in to visit on the 30th of this month, before they go and play The Buffalo Bar.

Finally (or probably eighthly), J*e*s*p*a need a mahoosive pat on the back for getting a whole plug for us onto Balcony TV the other week. It's such a shame that Dan didn't when he went on there with We The Faceless (and he bloody works for us!!). Nevermind though, he'll redeem himself with sweets from New York I'm sure... but yes, tourdates.co.uk/jespa for them.

I'm done.

Jord

Good Afternoon,

Settle yourself with a coffee and I shall tell you wondrous things about rock n'roll goings on that are happening within our annals this week.

But first, I must give praise (or big up, if you're down with the kids) to our very own Alex Watson for putting together an outstanding new subs show last week. If you missed it, catch it again on Rechargedradio.com. Also, many thanks to Rowland Monger for playing pundit (he will be back again as he knew his stuff) and to The Fancy Toys for doing a very entertaining session!

Now, to this week... let's start with...

Tomorrow, 8-10pm - It's The Justin Wayne show! I have no idea what he's going to be featuring but if it's anything like his show last week, it's probably pretty good! I've heard rumours of interviews and the like... but I've been wrong before (and still frequently am). Check out the main page of rechargedradio.com, as information from the fingers of Jutsin will be popping up there. justinw@rechargedradio.com

Thursday, 7-9pm - The Isabella Scarlet Session. This is the radio version of two nights before at the Hawley Arms. Isabella will be doing interviews, music, chat plus a live session, so tune in (or click on... whatever) for it! isabella@rechargedradio.com

Friday, 7-9pm - The Friday Forum. Yup, my lookout here. This week, we have Sam Kain back from the wilderness, Rob "One" Boffard hanging around looking Hip-Hoppy (?!) and Clayton "JR" Hartley (off of The Furbelows), who will be popping in for a cup of tea, a small cucumber sandwich and a chat about his latest musical adventure (which has a link to the Dali Lama...apparently) plus maybe Dave and possibly Minki. studio@rechargedradio.com

Sunday 5-7pm - The Music Unleashed Top 40 - Tune in. That's all I'm saying. chartshow@tourdates.co.uk

7-8pm - 20-20 - With Rob "One" Boffard. Shake yo' booty and get down with tha' phat dirty beatz. And some clean ones too. rob@rechargedradio.com

Phew! All of that and not an ounce of Keane/Coldplay and Kings of Leon in sight.

Now, before I finish and wander off back to what I was doing I must mention the best unknown gig in London (so good, I've put it in bold).  On the first Saturday of the month, at The Slaughtered Lamb (theslaughteredlambpub.com) over Clerkenwell direction, Chris Turner (feedyourheadmusic.com) puts on The Basement Tapes. If you're not in to noisy gigs but are into low lighting, a personal bar, overstuffed sofas with very cool carpet and wallpaper to match, this is the place that will make your life better (no, really, it will). I also know how hard it is to convince you to go to a gig that comes as a recommendation but believe me, if you go to one a month, make sure this is it. There's a free shot of JD in it for you. Go on. Ah go on. Go on. Go on, go on, go on, go on... find out who's on next time, over at feedyourheadmusic.com

Finally, in this week's Forum, we have some bad and some good news about Andy Quirk's Hits Of The Near Future nights. Listen in for it.

And I think I'm done.
