OK so I do my thing as guillermo e. brown solo/duos/trio/quartet/Cut Up Quintet/Arturo Klauft/Breuklen Tek/The Beat Kids/playing with whoever I play with
OK so Gordon Voidwell/Will Johnson does his thing whenever he wants to
OK so Cochemea Gastelum/Johnny Arrow does his thing however he pleases

WE DO our thing as BiLLLL$ whatever whenever we want to make sing or take however we want the beat to break we eat everything else and have our cake. (we smoked BAMcafe with Liberty Ellman, Neil Ochoa, & Kareem Bunton)
===============================================================

Jazz drumming, fashion/music magazine writing, NYU adjunct professoring and general hip-hopping aside, Guillermo E. Brown (aka Arturo Klauft) & Will Johnson (aka Gordon Voidwell) activate as BiLLLL$. With multi-instrumentalist input from Antibalas/Dap Kings/Amy Winehouse standby Johnny Arrow, the group debuted they're intergalactic sounds in a triple threat throwdown @ The Apollo Theater on April 18 & 19, 7:30pm. Upcoming is a full fledged beat treatise on May 9th @ BAMcafé in BKLYN.

The BiLLLL$ boys, with Bronx and Brooklyn roots, lose the boho BS and cut straight to the nouveau b-boy dancefloor.
Listeners can expect authentic, post-hybrid bodyrock, headnod musick - musick for dat ass & dat mental area. This is pure urbanite stuff.

"Get your vegetarian, eco-friendly, organic hamburger sneakerhead fashionista nerd fix right here."
-Paul Simon, former singer-songwriter/critic for The New Folk Chronicle

"Get your hott buppie bounce on."
-Star Jones, formerly of The View

"Wreckonize the full fx ah dis post zigaboo punk heart & synth soundsystem."
-Ben Vereen

"BiLLLL$ is that post gangsta hardcore Gotti shit widout da gunz. Fiyah! Fiyah! Bup! Bup! Bup! Come down selectah!"
-Reggae recording artist Snow

"On fiyah in the bedroom & the boardroom, BiLLLL$ is that crashproof bizness model u've been wanting to buy in2."
-Alan Greenspan via SMS

A musical thinktank poised to be reckoned with, BiLLLL$ is ready to blow!

Scott and I were all set to continue working on a project together then this happened. He is an amazing person and stellar producer. I look forward to his recovery and working with him again ASAP.

THE SCOTT HARDING FUND

Scott was involved in a car accident after finishing up a recording session on Friday Feb 15 and is now paralyzed.

Scott is in the Intensive Care Unit at Bellevue Hospital in New York City, his condition is serious, with fractures of his clavicle, rib, shoulder blade, and back. The full extent to which he will recover is not yet certain, but we have high hopes. He will need time, patience, and extended care to recover. Part of the doctor's stabilizing efforts at this early stage will be an operation on his back, expected to occur sometime this week. His spirits are good, and he's able to fully participate and decide on all decisions regarding his health and welfare. He is receiving the best in medical care and treatment, and all his friends and family have mobilized to aid his healing as best we can, with round the clock coverage in his room by one or more close friends at all times.

This is about helping someone in need immediately - Unfortunately Scott, like most dedicated musicians, does not have a health care plan, lived modestly, and cannot afford the luxuries of extensive bank accounts full of savings for those rainy days that always come one day. While there are already several great ideas afoot to raise funds through benefit concerts on both coasts, this will take time to organize and put into motion. The short term need to raise cash to handle his affairs is real, and now would be as good a time as any to send any size donation you can manage to establish some cash flow to be used on Scott's behalf.

Please make your checks payable to "Scott Harding c/o Tom Camuso", and send them to:

Thank you for your support.

This past weekend July 13/14 was all "BUSINESS" literally when we took it to Iridium in midtown Manhattan. Free Jazz, Times Square, definitely a harbinger of an oldr more seedy side of NYC, like when bandleader David S. Ware used to drive a cab and before that (ie 70's, 80's NYC/Boston).

The first night we were really tring to get our groove, replete with tourists walking out who didn't know exactly what they were getting themselves into. Hey I bet there is someone who walks out of every show, no matter what the type of music it is all what floats your boat.

By the 2nd night we were flying and 1/2 way through the 1st set I felt something clique. The last set was phenomenal. That's naturally how these things go, especially with a new band, new music and a wierd, Frigidaire venue. I think this would've felt alot different at a place like The Stone or even the Blue Note.

the other musicians Keith Witty and Joe Morris and of course David---did their thing to the utmost, utter sonic bliss.

these sets were recorded for maybe/possible release on Aum Fidelity. we shall see, it looks like there are more performances dwn the road fo this group so stay tuned.

Upcoming This Friday!!!! SOLO BIZNESS!!!:

we played our hearts out last night me Liberty Keith and Will opened for Tortoise and Four Tet. That will stand as one of my most memorable music performing experiences playing my choons! I loved every minute. The assembled crowd was quite responsive to my sheet, it will CONTINUE,,,,new nu NEW stuff coming! Scotty Hard and I willll be working in the studio to make this music happen (along with my essential caste of characters)

Four Tet and Steve Reid really rocked it, 'twas a pleasure to hear and see such open and live acoustic electronic hybrid music in action

The same goes for Tortoise who never fail to amaze me. Drums at the front, DRUMS at the FRONT!!!

I was happy to be a part of that amazing evening.

NYrs comeout to Luna Lounge on Wednesday and DSW @ Iridium Frid/Sat

peace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last night I finally got to see Baraka de Soleil and his company D'Underbelly do their thing. I understand this was a smallr production than last year's "First Dark Drama" which I missed, But I was too happy to be in attendance. Baraka and his 2 dancers were extremely too tough together. syncing and geeking and breaking and bouncing and syncretizing and exposing and lighting and darking and confusing and tiring and energizing and focused and then some.

Daniel Given's beat/vocalscape was a sonic joy fabric of darkness breath and life. There were only a beat or 2 that I recognized, but the NEW stuff took mee to smithereeen planets! house, crunk, free jazz+++hip hop, there was even a twisted pan-Afro-Latin thing, I was flrrrd! Vooices cloaked in dg's ever-tricked out rhythmic sensibility. There it was all the elements that inspired me back in '00. Formidable wise intelligence. I cnnt wait to hear these new ones in my ipod, stereostereo and on st st studio speakrrrs.

There is still time to see it this wknd,,,you should,,,

whoa this past weekend was type BERZERK

Friday night I saw Cochemea play with the Budos Band
sick grooves/arrangements/serious front line horn section ovah bass/drums/perc/cowbell/keys...what a wonder!

then headed to BPM for Paula's B-Day with Chin Chin

missed Moisturizer, but since I played with them Ise always super moist, it doth stay with you./

this was my 1st time seeing them (Chin Chin) do their thing. but I was expecting something good with Jeremy and Torbitt involved, this was my first time seeing Wilder in action I was deeply inpressed with his vox stylings, stage presence, pure devotion to the music, and brilliant in-crowd games. Also with my TBK cohort Yusuke Yamamoto (LEGO HAIRCUT)who amazes me everytime I hear him, with his shining multi-instrumentalism I cant say enough about what a wonderful musical spirit he is. And TADA, awww sheeet he is just as bad-ass---I need to just take simple bad ass lessons from these two. in fact they are ALL multi-instrumentalists, switching with ease. such a wonderful glee to behold!

YUKO did it to wild abandon on the visuals visually.

the many in attendance were absolutely enthralled by the brilliance of the band Chin Chin

it's always nice to just be an audience member, you get to see/hear alot more and concentrate on the music, if I have a gig or am sharing a bill with someone it's much more dificil to concentrate, porque I am trying to get my faculties/energy together to do mi cosa. hence the much more descriptive language regarding the performers on Friday night as opposed to Saturday.

OK then Saturday, I'se completely tired out---BUT

i was able to snag a new drum that I have been searching for for quite some time. it's a 16X16 floor tom that has a pedal that can be tuned like a TIMPANI. ever since the DSW QT opened for Max Roach/Cecil Taylor I was reminded and have been searching for one of these beauties. "Finally it has happened to me right in front of my face my view lens can't describe it"

rest.rest.rest.............................zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

THEN I played the VISION FESTIVAL with Rob Brown, Flip Barnes, and Todd Nicholson. This was a blast for me even though I had several technical problems like the snare on the house snare busting and my zendrum acting VERY funny. but I was able to pull through and had a great time improvising with Rob's music and the other group member's improvisations. Always a pleasure to see and hear other musicians who you've only heard on record or read about. This is always an immense experience for me, especially at the Orensanz Center it is such an immense colorful building, it seems like it improves each year.

next up for this week
CUT UP at JALOPY THEATRE JUNE 30th

shows to see:
D'Underbelly at Dixon Place&
Pharoah Monch&
Paul Amitai and Lady Firefly, Possible and Mouna Andraos, and Buccheri / Allen and Angie Eng at Galapagos on Thursday&

I'm definitely going to be putting more and more videos up. These are two from the past. 1 is me and my friend Lyn Goeringer just making a great forest-racket. The other is a solo work that I've been developing (I'm turning it into a larger ensemble work) called Postcolonial Bacchanale.

Keith and I are ALMOST done with the NEW BEAT KIDS record called "Sound Magazine"

Been diligent in the studio lacing my beats with live instrumentation and vocals and more, imagine the beat Besancon in 3D. that's what the process of layering this live stuff has been doing to my tracks. when you can play you can definitely spray it. and i'm trying to spray/control my tracks like switchin' nozzles on spray paint.....the project is my solo sheet and it's called "Shuffle Mode" my beatz, vox, background singers guitar bass, string section horn section percussion....all sick Sample fodder...

the new group BiLLLLz has been laying things dwn @ the moment it's me Sir BiLLLLectrician, Cochemea (from Nation of Billlliams) and BILLLLiam the younger.

expect a mixtape soon with all this fine music....
