just realized our last blog post was....'round this time last year.  but that's not for a lack of things to say.

it's because we've been holed up recording our new record, making sure it's just right, and even writing a bunch of new tunes  .doing the ocassional show too...we had a blast playing at bluesfest, at the elmdale a few weeks back, and last week with woodpigeon...

as you canadians start yr fireplaces, yr car warmers and prepare to huddle up in yr comfy blankets, we polytones are getting ready for a busy winter to warm you up.  the record will be out by february '10, we promise!!  we believe it's called 'the rocks match'.  stay tuned for details and make sure to visit us on facebook by clicking here!

cheers,
b

if you've seen the hilarious ads for the comedy network's newest original program, the jon dore television show, you may know that it stars one 'jon dore' and that the premiere is tomorrow night on comedy ntwk, 10pm.

what you may not know, however, is that your polytones play a role here. listen closely to the end credits tomorrow (wed.) night!!

while you may also know that our songs are not all that funny, you may not know that all our songs are actually serious songs about jon's testicles, which made us a perfect fit (for the show). i'm glad all our writing finally paid off; i mean how many songs can you write about stuff like that.

dear fans, friends, and people who add us without even looking:

polytones may hit your area this weekend, and we have been upgraded to a category '5' rock band.

we will play the jimmy jazz in guelph on saturday, sept. 29. losing strength from the smog, we are then expected to be downgraded to a tropical depression, somewhere over the smiling buddha bar in toronto, on sunday, sept. 30th. (a warning that some rock bands may produce dancing and happiness; always drink heavily)

polytones are fuelled by recent exciting news: a recent toronto independent music award for 'best indie rock', and now our song 'after the show' will be featured on the credits of the comedy network's newest original program, 'the jon dore television show'. come celebrate with us at our shows this weekend!!

see you there. i love you,
ben

Dear fans, friends, child stalkers,

We're pleased and proud to accept the 'best indie rock' award, announced at the Phoenix Theatre during last night's Toronto Independent Music Awards ceremony!

It's an honour to be nominated among some of Toronto's finest acts like Silver Hearts and Sleep the Season.

Of course, since we're based here in Ottawa and work for the man full time, we couldn't be there in person. But hopefully we'll be back to T dot soon to celebrate with y'all.

Love,
The Polytones

dear friends studying for exams and other people of the night:

tonight, thursday april 6, you have a rare opportunity to experience a live polytones show in your pyjamas by the warmth of your thermal carafe.  no, the show will not be in your pyjamas, but on CKCU 93.1 FM on your radio dial!

tune in to 93.1FM just before midnight and hear dentist/radio personality charles anthony host us through a full set of inspiring, exam-friendly music live on the radio & simulcast online (visit http://www.ottawalivemusic.com/ for more details).

focus testing has proven night-people prefer the polytones over energy drink 'red bull' and long-lasting battery 'energizer' as a powerful source of nutritious guarana!!  in fact, those studying late for film history exams and listening to the polytones found themselves suddenly able to reenact bunuel montages, shouting out 'lumiere brothers' to the delight of their fratmates! it works; try us with gin!

feel free to call the station to heckle us or ask for answers to your music and poli-sci questions!

love

hi folks,

our drummer, Brenda, has had to undergo emergency surgery. Though thankfully not life-threatening, the surgery means we're out of commission for the coming weeks. As a result, we cancelled our southern and eastern Ontario shows from January 19 - 22, 2006, and our Irene's show in Ottawa on Jan. 28.

Here are all the affected dates:
Oshawa (Thursday, January 19 at Catch 22 Café and Lounge)
Hamilton (Friday, January 20 at Pepper Jack Café)
Toronto (Saturday, January 21 at Smiling Buddha Bar)
Kingston (Sunday, January 22 at the Grad Club)

Ottawa (Saturday, Jan 28 at Irene's Pub)

We look forward to re-booking the tour -- and more local shows, too -- as soon as possible, and want to thank fans & all the good folks, clubs, fellow bands, and media for all their support and good wishes.

we'll be back at it soon!
