So Bonnaroo day one is in the books, and we're drying out a bit now. We got to see Passion Pit and ATL boys Zac Brown Band last night, before the heavens opened and made things nice and gushy for today. Today, its a hipster's wet dream on the Which Stage, with performances from Animal Collective, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and TV On The Radio. Then, its all about the Beastie Boys on the What Stage. Late night, we have Phish, Paul Oakenfold, Public Enemy, Phoenix, and more. Just another great day of music here at The Roo. We have some video up now on our YouTube page and will have plenty more throughout the day on YouTube and in the AV Room at 99X.com.

That gives me a good opportunity to plug our pages...

Bonnaroo - Day 1
Posted Thurday June 11 at 6:42p by Pat
Well we're here on the bus to Bonnaroo (yeah they got flippin WiFi on this thing!) and figured I would go ahead and put up our first post. We're totally stoked about this year's Bonnaroo and glad we can bring everyone along for the ride. Last year was really memorable...My Morning Jacket in the rain on Friday night...Jack Johnson and Pearl Jam on Saturday night....waiting up until all hours of the morning to see Kanye West...hating on Kanye all day Sunday... Death Cab's sunset Sunday set....plus all the rad experiences and people we met. Hopefully this year's Roo will meet or exceed all that.
I am personally most excited to see Ben Harper with his new band The Relentless 7, The Beasties (never seen 'em live!), MGMT, Passion Pit, and Cage the Elephant. It will also be really special to see some of the more established acts like The Boss, Elvis Costello, Al Green, and Booker T. Bonnaroo has become so diverse that there really is something for everyone.
In that spirit, last night I put together a little Bonnaroo '09 mix with a mix of the old, some of the new, and some you may not even have heard yet. If you're headed to Bonnaroo, check it out and whet the appetite. If you're not going, then still download it and see what you're missing.

There are two huge 99X.com shows coming to Atlanta
and we want to make sure Freeloaders get the first
crack at tickets. We're giving you the opportunity to see
two of the most amazing live bands at the most intimate
venue, the newly reopened Tabernacle. Both shows will
definitely sell out, so your best bet for tickets is to take
advantage of this exclusive presale. The Mars Volta are
up first, coming back to town after having to cancel their
previous sold-out show due to the tornado damage.
The show is September 24th and the following week,
on October 1st, The Raconteurs play The Tab.
Definitely take advantage of this presale offer.

From the Desk of Kinard

From the Desk of Kinard

Hey gang.  We've been hard at work since 99X went from regular radio to the internet and HD2.  We have made quite a bit of improvements too since we started.  Have you checked out the latest version of 99X.com?  You can now just listen to the station or you can click to do audio and video.  Our sound quality is one of the best that's out there.  We'll take the Pepsi Challenge against any stream!  I want you to know that we are working everyday to make sure that this site is an amazing source of music and more.  The more you support us during this time, the easier it will be for us to come back to regular radio, if the opportunity arises.

Thank You for your continued support of 99X.

FAQ's

Here's what you'll notice if you haven't checked us out lately:

"What about the DJ's?"

We have jocks now on the air every weekday.  Jillian is on 9a-2p.  I am on 2p-6p and Lewis (from Matt C and Lewis) is on 7p-Midnight.

"Can I still make requests?"

We have a new request line and its toll free: 888-515-499X.  Use it!  Make requests or call up to just BS with us. You can shoot us e-mails whenever you want and we will do our best to respond or play your song.  You can make those e-quests to jillian@99x.com, kinard@99x.com and lewis@99x.com

"Hey Kinard, what the hell?  I want to listen to 99X in my car!"

You can.  Just use an HD radio.  You can buy an HD radio for car, office and home.  You can also learn more about HD radio on our homepage under the "You can still listen in your car" button.

"What about events?"

We will still be doing all the same 99X events.  One of the first ones will be Unplugged in the Park at Park Tavern.  It kicks off real soon. We will still bring you concerts and you'll find us out all around town.  Nothing has changed, except we are now found only online and HD2.

"What about the music?"

Musically, we want to get back to being the station for which you turn to find what's new.  You'll still hear your favorite songs, but we hope to truly expose you to new and different bands over the course of the year.

"What's up with this visual radio thing?"

This whole visual thing we have been talking about will start in about 8 weeks.  When you see it, you'll know why it took so long.  It looks frickin' sweet.

"Will you guys still do contests and give away concert tickets?"

Absolutely.  Again, nothing has changed except where you can listen to us.

Explore the site and tell us what you think.  If you find things that are wrong with it, let us know.  On the home page, on the right side, you'll find an "Under Construction Report Bugs" button.  Click there and tell us what you found.
