I've written some new songs since settling in Seattle, including: "Amanda, Lately", "The Nearest Autumn In The Future", "Becky's Detailed Exposition", and "I Wish I Were An Expert". Expect these to be on album #3, whenever that happens. Until then, come to a show and hear them live.

Dear Bicyfans,

I'm in the midst of the depression I get after being on the road. This particular trip was the best one yet. I owe a great deal of thanks to my touring mate Kelli Rae Powell and to everyone who helped make us feel welcome in every town we visited.

I have a new lofty ambition to play at least one gig in each one of the United States by the time I'm dead. This past trip helped me rack up seven new ones which brings the total to 19 out of 50. Not bad, eh? So all you New Hampshires, Oklahomas and Oregons better watch out, because I'm comin' to git you.

Also, I'm moving back to Rochester. Providence was nice, but it was exhausting... everything's at the top of a hill.

Let me know if you'd like me to come visit your town to play a show. I just...can't...stop.

Your Sharkness,

Zach

Frank De Blase has written up a favorable review in anticipation of my show at Daily Perks to kick off my tour with Kelli Rae Powell:

ROCK: Bicycats (8/11)
By Frank De Blase on Aug. 8th, 2007

The Bicycats is an absolutely brilliant outfit. It's real tough to be odd and appeal to those who may not cotton to odd all too well. The Bicycats play pop music with doses of mania and a Young Fresh Fellow sense of unpretentious cool. Zach "The Shark" Bernstein appears to be the only official Bicycat, though the CD "I Love You For Your Mind" has a few folks joining Bernstein as he bounces between ukulele, guitar, piano, and some sort of organ.

At a glance, The Bicycats is a fun group that mixes pop and dry wit; however, the songs shouldn't be dismissed due to - or despite of - their random, matter-of-fact subject matter (girls with moustaches, lost love, melting Ferris wheels, making the bed) and clever arrangements. In a word, the music is fantastic. Different never made better sense.

Before taking off to tour the States, The Bicycats play with Kelli Rae Powell and The Soups Of The Day Saturday, August 11, at Daily Perks Coffee House, 389 Gregory Street, 271-2340, 7 p.m., $5, all ages.

In other news, I have stopped living in Providence, Rhode Island. To Rochester, New York I shall return. I've got a score to settle with Danny Wegman...

To Those Who Give A Care,

I have moved to Providence, Rhode Island.  So if you've been wandering the streets of Rochester, saying "Hey, where's Zach?", now you know.

And just because I don't live in Rochester anymore, that doesn't mean that I'm not a Western New Yorker at heart.  After all, home is where the heart is.  And I'll miss Rochester a lot.  Rochester -- the Romance Capital of the World.

I will be touring the Great Lakes cities and Midwest in August with Kelli Rae Powell.  Keep checking the site as new shows are posted, etc, etc, so forth, blah blah.  Maybe by then I'll have some RI plates on my car.

A baby waved to me yesterday,

Looking back on my most recent tour with Amos Rosenstein and Benny Oyama as The Handsome Trio, I feel like we've stamped a mark of goodness on the glowing children we've passed by.

A Personal Thank You to Every City We Visited:

Rochester: I live here. Thanks a bunch.

Burlington: The best part was when the venue was empty and then became packed within thirty minutes. Love your coat factory.

Providence: Best Hannukah themed show in March ever.

New Haven: Yale is too big. Make it smaller.

New York City: I used to live there. Thaaaaaaanks for nuthin'. And also for the fantastic turnout!

Binghamton: You gave us a good reason to drive in dangerous snowy weather for eight hours.

Ithaca: Where the men hard-boil their eggs, and the women are all right with me.

And thank you everyone for agreeing that our named was quite apt.

Hello Bicycomrades!

Over the next few months, you will be seeing shows listed in March under the name "The Handsome Trio".

The Handsome Trio is just a fancy name for my hometown buddies, Amos Rosenstein (the other Shoeshine Boy), Benny Oyama and myself. Together, we've made a lot of music, but thanks to college and other circumstances, have all gone our separate ways and got used to writing songs on our own. But, The Handsome Trio has been assembled so that none of us have to play our songs by our lonesome, and instead, we're all playing each other's songs as a combo -- which is how it's meant to be. So at these shows, you'll still hear Bicycats songs, but also songs by Amos and by Benny, both equally guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

So, now you know who the Handsome Trio are, and I expect you all to flock to our shows we are planning for New England and New York.

Always and Forever,

Zachary T. S. Bernstein

Okay, so some of you have been asking how you can get a copy of the new CD "I Love You For Your Mind".

At shows or in person, I sell each CD for $5.

If you cannot attend a show because you live in Nevada or something, then add $2 for shipping and handling. That's a total of $7 by mail.

I don't have a paypal account or anything like that, so:

If you'd like to have the CD personally sent to you by me through the mail, just send me a message on myspace with your mailing address, and I'll send it as soon as possible.

INTERNATIONAL MAILING:

Again, send me your mailing address, only expect to pay a little bit more for shipping and handling, and wait a little bit longer for me to find out just how much shipping and handling will cost.

VERY IMPORTANT:

I've never done anything like this before, so if it takes a while, I'm sorry. I don't imagine it should. But when you get the CD, enjoy it a lot.
