Been Busy! Been playing a lot...still trying to Promote the "Bring It Home" Cd and the Forth coming "Yesterdaze News" Cd. I have a few full band shows coming up, but the band is going to lay low for a few months so that we can prepare our new material. I'm ready for new music!

Before I released "Bring it Home" I was playing the songs months before..This time I want the new music to be a surprise and not show case it till the Cd is weeks away from release. I have a few titles in mind for the Cd..."The Organic World", "Organic Music" Or "Organic Hillbilly Music" : )The word "Organic" has to fit in it somewhere, I don't know why, it just does. I'm Open to any Ideas! I have many songs written and many more in the works.  I think I want to record everything I write, and then just pick the best 12 songs for the CD. Here are some of the Title of the songs...
"To Believe" written in memory of My Nephew Stephen Serrano.
"My Mothers Eyes" a song about My mothers stories of her Long hard as a kid living in the depression.
"Her Song" A Brian Wilson ballad inspired tune.
"I live for Me" A Nice Jazzy/blues about a troubled  soul : )
"Behind The Curtain" Featuring My dear buddy and Nashville session player Mike Gregory on Guitar! If you seen Zeitgeist then you know the song haha
"Ain't No Sunshine" our Cover of the 1973 bill Withers Hit...Jerry Jennings has a smoking guitar solo in this tune!
Anyway just to give you an insight on what's cooking, however I'm trying to do something different musically as well so We'll see what comes up!
I've been working on the Becca Danielsen Cd

and it's coming along great!  Finishing up on Her cover of Roberta Flacks "Feel Like Making Love"
and really happy over the results. I'm planning to have Becca's Cd out around the same time as mine so we can have a Double Cd release party and hoping to get Her on next years Royer park park show. Anyway that's all for now : )

The man behind all those great early Elvis  songs like, "That's Alright" "Baby Lets Play House"and "Hound Dog" has My CD : )
When I was little I got a hold of "Elvis' Sun Sessions" LP and I was floored not only By the Rawness and the Untouchable Voice of Elvis himself, But also by this Cat named Scotty Moore on Guitar.  If your Familiar with The Sun Sessions,
You'll know that most of those songs were only 3 guys( Like the Stray Cats!)...Elvis on Vocals and acoustic, Bill Black on Upright Bass and Scotty Moore on Guitar. Because of not having a drummer on most of these songs, Scotty used his unique Pickin' style and pretty much took everything he knew and filled in any open spots to compensate the lack of a drummer.  This was the Birth of Rock-N-Roll and Rock-A-billy Music. I remember being about 10 and hearing a track Called "Just Because" off the album and I was in Aw over his playing.  I wore that record out trying to pick out what he was doing.  Scotty went on to influence so many greats after....people Like George Harrison ( Another Favorite of mine) Jimmy Page, Albert Lee, Brian setzer and the chain continues. I have always said if  It wasn't for Scotty Moore and George Harrison I may have never picked up the guitar.
These guys were/are my guitar idols.

A few moths back I was lucky enough to Meet Scotty's daughter here on Myspace... I say lucky because she is a nice very warm hearted person who I have great talks with. I have told her many times the admiration I have for her Dad, and was wondering If I could send him my Cd.
She said Yes and I sent Her and Her Son who is also a wonderful musician, and Scotty Himself My Bring It Home CD.   I just wanted to give something Back to the man who has influenced me as a musician.  It was a wonderful feeling when I heard he had received it : )
Anyway that's all.. Thought I would Blog My Happy moment : )

HOT HOT HOT!!  That's all I can say!! Ha
Man I don't know how many bottle waters I downed...at least 15. Other than that I had a wonderful time.  I Played guitar with the Jimmy Crocket Band, and that was lots of fun.  I had a week to learn 9 of his songs and lucky enough I did.  Jimmy is one of the best Singer/songwriters I know...and He's an amazingly sweet guy to. Not to forget, he's a great Keyboard player as well.
I felt pretty good about my set as well.  My drummer Jeff couldn't make this show so My Bass player Paul brought in his fellow band mate from paradox, Christian.  I had 2 short rehearsals with Christian and He did a great job. Jerry's band was awesome as usual, same for Relayer. I'll tell you, it's nice have an awesome sound man....I can actually hear my vocals very well.  It was so hot, I had to down a small bottle of water after each song!!  I t was a good turn out to....As the day went on more people showed.
A few of My friends  showed up as well, so it's always nice to see them : ) Next year Steve who threw this whole thing, Is gonna plan it later on...like September so it's not so hot.  Either way
I'm on!!

Some of Our Dreams Are Just '2 Days Away'

By LincolnLady

As my friends and family can attest, I am a music junkie from way back. It all began when my Mom got me tickets, front and center I might add, to the Monterey Pop Festival during that infamous Summer of Love of 1967. It was a huge influence in my life and set the barometer for my future years as a music addict.

When I moved to Lincoln from the Monterey Peninsula in the Summer of 2000 it was a huge social and cultural adjustment for me. And, I will be the first to admit, there were a few years in which I believed I had made a monumental mistake in pulling up the deep roots I had back home, and trying to restart them in Lincoln’s legendary hard-pan.

I can tell you forthrightly, and without hesitation that my saving grace, not just then but throughout my life, has been my love of live music and the musicians who make it. As I felt the stiff and unwelcoming veil of despair falling over my naturally optimistic persona I realized I needed to get back to my passion, and that was music.

I began a quest, of sorts, and found myself scouring the internet for venues that offered live acoustic music. For many years I attended music events at small pubs and Open Mics exclusively in the downtown Sacramento area.

When the gas crunch came down on me, with a slam, I realized I needed to start looking a bit closer to home for my future music fixes. To my happy surprise, slowly I discovered a seemingly endless pool of talented musicians, playing right here in my own back yard.

And so it was through this chain, of sometimes less than happy events, I came to know some of the sweetest cream of the musical crop this Valley has to offer. Becca Danielsen is of that genre. Becca had attended one of Cuppy’s Coffee Open Mics a few months ago when I was in my usual spot, front and center. She blew me away with her amazing voice and soulful lyrics.

Becca’s compositions flowed movingly, between the brilliant covers of Bonnie Raitt and Phoebe Snow. Over the past few months I have come to know Becca through our mutual love of music, and learned she has recently formed a musical duo with her good friend, Ken Koenig. Ken has his own CD “Bring it home” and he is currently producing Becca’s first CD.

A few weeks ago, my partner in musical adventures, David Lightfoot and I had the pleasure of attending their debut performance in Fair Oaks. It was a full house, and they did not disappoint our critical ears. Their folk-rock-jazzy-pop wooed the crowd, and made us proud!

It has been my dream to one day be able to enjoy quality live music every day of the week here in Lincoln. With that in mind, I invited Becca and ‘2 days Away’ to come up to Lincoln to add their touches to the tapestry of our growing music scene here in our little hometown.

By following one dream, a small circle of disconnected dreams has slowly begun linking together, into a beautiful endless circle.

Focus your vision, follow your passion, and enjoy living your dream.  ‘2 Days Away’ will be making their Lincoln debut on

Wednesday, July 15th from 6-9pm at
Old Town Pizza
436 G Street, # 202 (upstairs, elevator)

Please join friends and me, as we unwind with the superlative sounds of Becca and Ken, while savoring the absolute best pizza in town!

Very sad to hear this...I grew up as a little kid in the 70's listening to the Jackson 5. I still remember My sister and I cutting the record "ABC" off the back of Alphabet's cereal Box. I remember having the 45 of "Never can say goodbye" and playing it over and over on My "Close 'N' play". My sister christl had the tape "Ben" and We would listen to it all the time. In the 80's when I was a teenager and like most people my age, got to witness the Great talent he had. "Thriller" and "Off The Wall" is still  great Masterpieces!
He was more than a performer...He was outstanding at what he did. A spokesman of our generation.  No matter if you grew up in the 60's,70's,80's or 90's, we all grew up to Michael's music. And No matter if you like Him or his Music, he deserves the respect as an outstanding artist.  I don't care what the Media has said about him, I just don't believe it....The Media has been on his ass for so many years, and making soo many stories about him. I only hope they can let him rest in peace now. I was really hoping he could come back and do what he did best. Thank you Michael for the years of Great music and memories....My prayers go out to you and your family.

I didn't think they were going to play us at first and when it came down to the top 3 requested I was thinking for sure We were not going to be played.
Then they said "This guy has had thousands of phone calls and millions of texts" and then the open chord to "Never Be The Same" : ) A very happy moment : ) I was told that after the song was played more requests were coming in! Anyway, I want to those who voted for us....VERY MUCH APPRECIATED! And I would also like to thank my most awesome band....You guys are the best!!
God is good! : )

Well I got to thinking...Maybe it's because I'm a very humble,God fearing and thankful person....The smallest things in life can mean a lot to me.
What I don't understand is When Artist's post things like "Check out my new tune...I'll return the favor"
and then they never do or even say thanks.  I will take the time to listen to an artists song(s) and I give them a detailed response on why I liked it. Not that I care if they return the favor, but a simple "Thank You for taking the time..." would be nice. I have always said thanks to the people that has giving me compliments. Even if I'm busy, I take the time to at least say thank you....even if It's a day or 2 later. One time I  responded to a Female artist  here from Sacramento, by letting her know that I thought she had a wonderful voice and music and that I would love to come hear her play and would love to buy her Cd. She never responded and then deleted my Comment! Ha
Wasn't like I was hitting on her... I was being nice and meant what I said. Well that Girl lost a potential fan now. I know here in Sacramento there's artist's with the big chip on their shoulders, but when it all comes down to it, We're all in the same boat brotha or sista!: ) I know the "Sac Scene" has their own little circle which is kind of a joke when you think about it, but it doesn't hurt to be nice and say thanks....it will actually do you some good.
If you don't want to say thanks, then why ask or why have that person on your friends list if you don't want to respond?  If you want someone to boost your ego without saying thank you, that's what your mom is there for because after all she'll always say your good : )
I'm not dissing the whole Sac town of musicians because I have some GREAT friends, bands and meet some new people that are wonderful singer/songwriters/musicians.....and that are humble as well.  Ok I'm done ranting now : ) ...it is what it is! haha
