It is a beautiful day today.  If you're in the A right now, and you own or can purchase that Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik...you must bump it today.  Yeah, I know it's 13 years old, but as Peaches says on the intro, "That shit sho' feel good."

This morning I had been up for maybe 15 minutes before I realized it was gonna be one of them days.  I tried ignoring it.  I tried fighting it.  Tried pretending.  Went up and down about it for hours.  Felt I was drowning.  "Not again," I'm thinking.

Cut to my lunch break and I'm still dragging around.  No sooner than I pull out of the parking garage for my daily joy ride/lunch break does the sky open up.  And you know Atlanta drivers and rain don't exactly mix.

Somehow, though, sitting there in the traffic made me realize it's actually a beautiful day.  And not just because of the water ban, either.  It's warm out, every sort of gray you can imagine can be seen in the sky, and though the rain is steady, it's still light, the raindrops peppering your skin with cool, wet kisses.  Yeah...a beautiful day.

It's no coincidence that this happens just when I need to be reminded to respect the doom and gloom that sometimes colors my spirit, and let it be.  So I wrote off Tuesday.  Wednesday may be better.

I did smoke some weed, too.  Wonder if that matters.

Egads!  My back feels like someone is holding a lit match in between my shoulder blades, which turns into a lightning bolt if I lower my head.  It seems like I wake up every morning a year older.  My bones are cracking like I'm 90.  What is this about?  It's not like I've been getting any, so, unfortunately, I cannot blame it on my bedroom antics.

Then it occurred to me that it could be one of two things.  Someone could have fiddled with my chair at work.  Sitting at a desk typing for eight hours in some crazy quasimodo position because somebody adjusted your chair can cause some very strange sensations.  Trust me.

Or, it could be that after 20-odd years of low self esteem and walking as if my shoes are the most interesting thing I've ever seen, my body is having a hard time adjusting to walking with my shoulders straight and my head held high.

Even though it's only October, I can officially declare 2007 a good year. It's been a long time since I had one of those, and I owe a good bit of that to my friends (and a couple family members).  When  I told them I was had a sneaking suspicion that I was pretty okay, they were there to look at me as if I said, "I have a sneaking suspicion that Kanye West is somewhat conceited."  That encouragement, coupled with the removal of some destructive influences, is all I needed.

Now if I could just get a backrub.

Each player of this game starts with "7 weird things /habits about you." People who get tagged need to write a blog of their own 7 weird things/habits as well as state this rule clearly. At the end you need to choose 7 people to be tagged and list their names.

I'm actually not as weird as you'd expect.  Unless I'm forgetting something.  If that's the case, let me know what I'm forgetting.

1.  I don't like drinking water from a glass.  I prefer bottles.  So if you're ever at my place, make sure you're drinking from the company jug of water.  That is unless you don't mind a little backwash.

 

2. I sleep on my couch more than I sleep in the bed.  Most times I rotate, though.  Bed, couch, floor, and repeat.  But the couch is undoubtedly my favorite.

3. I am obsessed with making lists.  I have lists all over the place – lists of CDs I want, (which I carry in my wallet), lists of things I wanna do before I die, groceries, to-do lists, list of books/DVDs I want to buy/read/see, countless playlists, lists of names for whenever I need to name a character.  I could go on, but you get the picture.

 

4. There is always a song in my head.  Thus I'm prone to burst out into song at the mere mention of a lyric.  It's crazy.  You start talking about your father's members only jacket, and I'm all "it's members only tonight."

 

5. The sound of traffic soothes me.  I have no idea why, but it does.  I just love laying around my apartment listening to people going about their day.  That's one of the main reasons I miss my old apartment in DC.  Car horns, sirens, motorcycles, loud raggedy pieces of shit, the occasional accident…ahh, so peaceful.
 

6. I cannot stand talking on the phone.  With most people it's extremely boring and a supreme waste of time.  So if I've ever been on the phone with you for more than a half an hour, consider yourself delightful.

 

7. Even though I hate talking on the phone, I am still likely to leave a meandering message on your voicemail.  Especially if I forget that I'm leaving a message.  Then I could go on for a minute or two.
