Hey all,

Thanks to everyone who came out on March 7th at The Middle East Upstairs for the 2009 Rompetition finals. It was a great show and wicked competitive, but someone had to win. That band was Traces David, and they will be taking the 2009 No Contracts Needed stage on 4.18.09 at The Regent Theatre.

Some of you may have picked up some NCN t-shirts while voting. KEEP THOSE SHIRTS! Because, if you wear them to No Contracts Needed on 4.18.09 you will be eligable to win a pair of tickets to a Sox game. If you want a shirt so you can be part of this contest, then buy NCN tickets at Slyrox.com. You may also luckily get one when we are promoting on the street. No matter how you pick up that NCN t-shirt, get NCN tix and wear that shirt to the show so you can have a chance to see Big Papi and the 09 Sox take the field.

Thanks to everyone who made the 2009 NCN Romp possible! The bands, the fans, the judges and the clubs!

To enter the No Contracts Needed Rompetition please e-mail me back requesting a date to play. You can either play on 2.15 or 2.22 at The Greatest Bar if your act is 21 and above. You can play 2.14 or 2.21 at All Asia if your act is mostly under 21. Bands get 25 minuets in the preliminary round. There will be a full back line provided for every band. This includes a drums kit, without a snare, cymbals and pedal. A bass rig and guitar head and cab will also be available. Each band must use this back line for the sake of time and fairness to each act.

Bands are scored on a 120 point scale. There is pre-show voting online, then ballots cast at the shows and judges. Judges give bands 100 points. online voting gives the winning band 10 points, ballots give the winning band 10 extra points. The top four bands take home cash prizes. The first place band wins. $150.

1 band from each preliminary show moves on to the finals on March 7th, 2009 at The Middle East Upstairs. There will be one wild card band determined by the most online votes. Online voting ends on Feb 28th at midnight.

There will be 5 bands in the finals. Winner takes home $500 and a slot at No Contracts Needed 09 at The Regent Theatre in Arlington.

All bands will be given promotional flyers specific for your date of the Rompetition. These will be available at the Rompetition meeting, which will be set up once I have heard back from all bands and all dates are scheduled.

No Contracts Needed is seeing new bands as they break into the fold, hearing new music as it takes its sound to another level, experiencing musicians with an attitude for the future.

No Contracts Needed is a theatre-sized local concert that amplifies a new perception of seeing local bands. NCN promotes independent talent within Massachusetts to the high school students, college students as well as music scenes enthusiasts that are looking for the most visually enhanced way to see local, independent bands play their hearts out. Boston has a long history of developing great, lasting local talent and this is the way to see the next Aerosmith, The Cars, Aimee Mann or Letters to Cleo before they are signed and on MTV.
