To help kick start our new Reverb Nation profile and our new Japanese web page, i have uploaded two of the Tea Time remixes that will be included in the new expanded collectors edition of Tea Time which is released on RebCo Records early in 2010, to the music players on each of the sites.

One is the 'Take It Black Like Your Metal' remix by Flesh Eating Foundation and the other, the 'Club' Remix by The Ladder.

This will be the only previews available of this disc before it's release and they will not appear anywhere else.

Early in 2010, RebCo Records will release an 'Expanded Limited Collectors Edition' of our single 'Tea Time'.

Tea Time was our last 'self released' single before Global Citizen signed to Rebco late in 2007 and so has never really been 'widely' available except on a 12" picture disc. This is set to change with this special expanded collectors edition which will feature the 3 tracks from the original release along with a further TEN tracks! Yep, you got that right, that's a total of THIRTEEN tracks!

The track listing is:

1. Tea Time (Original)
2. My Lovers (Original)
3. Tea Time - Glitter & Ash Remix by Saul Strange
4. Tea Time - Take It Black Like Your Metal Remix by Flesh Eating Foundation
5. Tea Time - Club Remix by The Ladder
6. Tea Time - Techno Remix by Qubiq
7. My Lovers - Remix by Markus P
8. Tea Time - Early version demo
9. Clown
10. Slave
11. The Only One
12. Yakuza Dawn
13. Zero Butterfly

Catalogue number on RebCo Records is: REB CD016.

Tracks 9-13 are songs we couldn't fit onto the Master Stroke album due to time restrictions or them having a slightly different mood or atmosphere and because we still play them regularly live we felt they needed a release.

Artwork subject to change.

The new album 'Nil By Mouth' will now be released early in 2010, it's taking longer to finish due to live shows getting in the way of recording but it's almost there! :)

On Thursday 30th July we will be heading off to Fano in Italy for the Moonlight Festival!

We will be at the festival all 3 days but only play on the Saturday at 8:30pm on the main stage.
On the same afternoon as the live show we will take part in a 'meet and greet' session along with the other performers that day.

Band line-up for this show will be myself on vocals as usual plus Junko and Vade AKA September, October, November ...... :)

We look forward to playing alongside Neon (Italy), Din (A) Tod (Germany) and Specimen (UK) and also with the artists playing the other days such as our friends Gothika (Japan) and Ira K Organisation (Italy) etc.

See some of you there, from what I've seen of the organisation/promotion for this event, it's going to be huge and it's gonna be a blast! :) We are very excited indeed ...

A new interview with The Fano Moonlight Festival media partners 'Erba Della Strega Magazine' has been posted here:

http://www.erbadellastrega.it/_NewSite/articolo.php?mcat=9&cat=26&art=1031

For those of you who can't read Italian, here's a rough translation:

01- First of all, please present yourself to the Erba Della Strega readers.

Greetings dark music lovers, my name is September (AKA Rich), Lead vocalist and song writer from British dark electro band Global Citizen.

02- Can you give us a brief  bio of the band?

Global Citizen formed back in 1994 by myself but were called Constructive Noise back then, we changed our name to Global Citizen in 1999
after writing a song with the same name.
We spent the next number of years struggling like any band does to get themselves noticed, releasing our own material on a
very small scale via our own label Whoopy Doo Records and gigging as much as we could, mainly in and around London.
I think we released 6 albums in that time and quite a number of singles also, those releases are no longer available though.
Things really picked up for us with the birth of the internet which meant we could reach a much wider audience with our music more easily
and after joining Myspace in 2005 things just got better and better.
Eventually late in 2007 we were picked up by London independent label RebCo Records
Late in 2008 our debut album on RebCo Master Stroke was released and continues to do well to this day.
Since then we've been busy recording more material and enjoying playing live as much as we can.

03- Can you tell us about your early days as a musician and why did you begin to make music? Who are your major influences?

Ahh, the old three questions in one trick! You naughty boy! ;o
I started music fairly young i guess but not as young as a lot of people. My parents bought me my first synthesizer as i left school after
messing up my schooling/exams by having already got into girls and music, both of which had already got me into trouble at school.
I'd already started dying my hair and wearing eyeliner from the age of 11 or 12 thanks to Tubeway Army and had already started messing
about inside girls knickers before i was of a legal age to do so. Both of these things meant the system turned on me and resulted in me turning
on the system also and so i left school with few decent qualifications to boast about. I'd already decided that music was my thing anyway,  enough at least, to convince my parents that it was worth spending a lot of money getting me my first equipment. Lucky me.
My first band was an electronic outfit called Lonely Crystal Child, firstly as a duo with me on keyboards and my friend Jolyon singing,
then as a 3 piece with another friend Neil joining on keyboards and then as a 2 piece again but with me taking over vocals and Neil
remaining on keyboards after the departure of Jolyon. We'd got ourselves a small collection of analog synthesizers and a drum machine by then
and spent most of the time rehearsing and writing much the same as anyone and then split after just one or two shows.
I went it alone after that with various short lived projects until Constructive Noise/Global Citizen was born in 1994.
The rest as they say, is history.
The reason we began and our influences back then was one and the same thing, Gary Numan and the synthesizer. OK, that's two.
Both were new to the general public and so exciting at the time as no-one had ever seen anything like it and it immediately turned thousands
of kids into wannabee electro synthesizer wizards, including myself and my friends.
These days, things are slightly different as more influences have joined the party such as Japan, women, sex etc, etc.

04- Tell us about your last record? Do you have a message in your music or not? Which instruments have you used for the recording process? Analogue/digital etc?

The album Master Stroke is probably one of the darkest, yet exquisitely sexy albums you will ever hear. It's powerful yet atmospheric and is filled to splitting point
with fourteen excellent tracks that will excite you, disturb you and leave you wondering why you'd never discovered it before. It has excellent artwork inside and out
with one of those covers that will be remembered as a classic in future times. I'ts haunting, dirty, twisted and perverse and you will love it!
There is no underlying message in our songs, I just write about subjects i enjoy or stimulate me and i guess they just show the dirty old man that is inside of me!

Our music is almost entirely synthetic and I use both analog and digital synthesizers.
My current kit list, most of which was used on this album is:

Roland JP8000
Roland SH201
Roland Juno D
Moog Little Phatty
Korg Microkorg
Roland D10

We've also just recently acquired an Alesis Fusion 8HD which is already being used on new recordings.

For drums I use sample hits and build my own rhythms.

I work entirely in audio without the use of midi.

05- Can you describe your music?

I'm not very good at describing my own music any different to what i said about the album so I'll quote you the words of Canadian electro violin wizard Nash The Slash
who's making an appearance on our next album:

"It is sinister, twisted and very cool with great production, artistic design, sonic noises and a unique approach with enticing lyrics
that are original and honest. I'ts the total combination of vocals, sonic landscapes and visual graphics that makes it work."

06- How much is the fashion side important for you?

I am what is often described as an eighties kid as in my teenage years growing up were in the 1980's.
Back then, fashion, image and dressing up was very much part of life, in the music scene and in everyday life.
Yes, it's true that a lot of the fashion when you look back at it these days was horrible but on the electronic music side of things, imagery was
much cooler and played a big part in what belonging to the different genres/scenes or following a particular band was about.
This has stayed with me all the way until now and i believe that a band should look good as well as sound good and so yes, it is important
to us and we do everything we can to look the part. Of course, it should go without saying that you should not look good but sound rubbish!

07- I've read that a 12" vinyl of yours is now a collectable/rare item. So people still will buy records? I mean, REAL records, not cd's or (brrr) digital download?

Ahaha, yes, our first release on RebCo was a 12" picture disc of our single Tea Time, it was quite a risk to take in these unstable times but seems to be turning out
for the better. The disc recently appeared in the Most Wanted section of Record Collector Magazine turning it into an instant modern collectible and
causing sales of the disc to rise massively. I wouldn't class it as a rare item yet though as it is still available but there were only 500 individually numbered discs pressed
and so it will, I'm sure, become a rarity in the future.
And so to answer your question, yes, people still buy vinyl and more and more are starting to do so again and more and more bands are pressing on vinyl again.
In the not too distant future I suspect that vinyl will become the only hardware music release format you can buy and everything else will be digital formats, Cd's will disappear and will unlikely be replaced.

08- You're playing in Italy at the Moonlight Festival at the beginning of August. Emotions/wishes/surprises...what can we expect to see/hear during your live set?

YES! The band and I are very excited about traveling to Italy for this great new festival and look forward to playing to hopefully lots and lots of wonderful enthusiastic Italian music fans!
This will be our first trip to play live in Italy but we hope that everyone will enjoy what we do and that we will be invited to return many times to follow.
We will play a one hour set on the main stage on the Saturday (August 1st) though I'm not sure at what time at the moment.
Although we only perform on the Saturday, we will be staying for the whole festival to see all the other great bands and mix with the fans.

You can expect that we will certainly stand out from the crowd, you will not see or hear anyone else like us during this festival and i fully expect most people
in the audience to stand there with there jaws dropped and their eyes wide open, following every little move I make and every word I breathe ....
We will also be a lot more powerful live than you expect after hearing our album. The album itself is very powerful but the live version takes it to a another level!
We will perform a mixture of songs from our current album and our next album and a couple of old live favourites from our early days.
To sum it up, you will enjoy it very much! And so will we.

09- What are your next projects?

As well as enjoying ourselves performing live whenever we get the opportunity, we are also working on our next album which will almost certainly
be called Nil By Mouth and is due for release around September/October time, again on RebCo Records. We've already almost finished 9 of the tracks for this album and are midway through a couple more.

Before that, the label will release a special Expanded Collectors Edition of Tea Time which will feature the 3 tracks from the original release plus several remixes, an unreleased early version and
at least 3 previously unreleased tracks that we couldn't squeeze on to the Master Stroke album through lack of space.

10- Any last words?

I'd like to thank Max and all at Erba Della Strega for the interview and support. It has been a pleasure and hopefully we will meet at the Moonlight Festival!
If you see us about, don't be shy to say hello, we are not as scary as we look!
Many thanks also to all your readers, have a great summer and hope to see you all soon!
Please join us also on Myspace at www.myspace.com/globalcitizenuk

Best wishes. x

The introduction by the magazine reads:

One of the most controversial and genuine characters of the underground English electro scene is about to arrive in Italy.  Despite the cryptic and mysterious image, Rich has shown to be an acute character and contrary to what was expected, has gained remarkable credibility with us for his band Global Citizen.  Enjoy reading. ...

Just thought I'd give you all a little update on what's going on behind the scenes at GCHQ and what's in store for you in the upcoming months.

Firstly, and apologies for the delay on this, though I'm sure that those of you that come to our shows regularly have already noticed, we have a new male member in the band.
November joined us on keyboards earlier in the year and is doing a great job, is very enthusiastic and playing an integral part in building the public profile of the band.
Anyway welcome November!
This means that October now gets her wishes to step aside and take a back seat in the band, she'll still be around at a lot of the shows and will back up on keyboards where required. She claims she's getting too old for it! ;o

Next, Release news:
We have a couple of releases due out in the early part of 2010.

The first will be Tea Time Expanded, a Limited Collectors Edition expanded version of our Tea Time single. The disc will include the 3 tracks on the original release plus a couple more remixes, an early unreleased and completely different version and 3 other unreleased tracks that we couldn't squeeze on to the Master Stroke album due to time constrictions. So that will be 9 or 10 tracks and worth getting.

The second release will be the follow up album to Master Stroke. Our 2nd album will almost certainly be called Nil By Mouth, though i also liked Early Morning Star as the title, maybe we should put it to a vote?
Anyway, the second album is well under way and i'd say roughly about 75% complete.

Nine of eleven tracks i have started are already at final production stage with the other two already half done. There may be one or two more yet, i don't know.
So the track listing at present but not in any fixed order is:

1. Kimochi ii
2. Early Morning Star
3. Hilton
4. Broken Doll
5. Immaculate Ejaculate
6. Sleep Precious Sleep
7. Nil By Mouth
8. Pearls
9. Your Majesty
10. Tomomi And The No-Panties Coffee Shop
11. Whilst You Were Asleep

The Album is slotted for a release in the first quarter of 2010.

Also, later in the year we have four songs on the film soundtrack of British independent gangster/gore movie Stagger out on 666/Films UK, when I know the date I'll let you know.

The band also appear in the new book on Gary Numan called Fracture by Kevin Spencer. There's a 3 page article on Global Citizen which includes a biog/history, our links to Numan and a full discography including our own Whoopy Doo label releases.
If you'd like to get a copy of the book you can email fracture@tiscali.co.uk for information.

I'm not gonna waffle on about live shows here as you get regular bulletins on them anyway but the big ones in brief:

Sunday June 28th we headline at Incestuous, The Purple Turtle in Camden, London
Saturday August 1st we head to Italy for The Fano Moonlight Festival
Saturday September 5th we are one of the top bands playing The Dark Mills Festival in London
Friday October 30th we play Club Antichrists' Halloween Special, London
See regular bulletins/calender for details.

I reckon that's enough for you to sink your teeth into for now but why don't you subscribe to our blog so you know what's going on as soon as we tell it!?!? :)

Thanks for stopping by.

Global Citizens' Tea Time 12" picture disc has made it into the current issue of Record Collector Magazine (March 2009, no. 360).
Appearing in the 'Most Wanted' section, Paul Rigby from the magazine goes on to say "one of the joys of collecting records is spotting up and coming bands" and that Global Citizen are "ones to watch" and Tea Time is "one to hear".
This article has already caused a surge in the sales of the picture disc, if you want to grab a copy of it yourself, we still have stock in our ebay shop here:
